Why not? SLI scales almost linearly with two cards except where severely CPU-bound, and being CPU bound won't affect a single fast card any less than two slower cards. I could have understood this position back when drivers were poor and microstutter gobbled up performance gains, but Nvidia fixed that issue ages ago, and AMD recently fixed it. These are mature, functional technology these days. There are tradeoffs between two power hungry 560TIs and, say, selling one and getting a 760 or 770, but to suggest both are not options? Again, why not?

It also requires your game to support either SLI or Crossfire......a particular problem...here...

Actually, Tom's seems to think you have the smallest nVidia worth SLI'ng. The link you want to read is within that page linked …

Just understand "multi-card setups always have drawbacks," and "MW:O doesn't officially support multi-card operations."

The 750 ti isn't really a good buy compared to the 560ti. As far as I can tell, the 750 ti is actually a downgrade.

I really wanted to recommend you buy a 650 ti boost. I bought this card a while back as an interim card for my computer for 109 USD off newegg, but it I can only find it for 150 or so now. It's like a 12% upgrade from the 560ti.

Given that the 650ti is only available for around the 150 mark, and isn't too much of an upgrade, I suggest you shell out for a GTX 760, which, new, is as low as 233 dollars on Amazon: http://www.amazon.co...id=&seller=&sr=

Although if you're stuck with just newegg, you'll have to go 250: http://www.newegg.co...-_-na-_-na-_-na

I actually ran the 1280x1024 monitor for a while and from personal experience, with all settings for MWO on max, a normal GTX 650 was around 30-40fps, a 650ti boost is 50-60fps, and the 660ti/760 are always above 60fps. (And I put vsync on at this point because 60hz monitors)

Stats wise, I'd say go with 650ti over 750ti, because bizarrely, it looks to be a better card. Of course, wait a couple of weeks and the comparisons will let people know for sure. (Also, the 650 ti is darn cheap: 125 on newegg http://www.newegg.co...-_-na-_-na-_-na or 109 at microcenter: http://www.microcent..._x16_Video_Card )

A second 560Ti for under or around 100$ candian and 100$ for a used 1080P monitor will allow you to makeshift a SLI profile for MWO-only game that requires this effort and blast dirty sick frame rates still under 200$ and you could further push your OC,from 4.4 to 4,6ghz easily......turning your hyper 212+ 90 degrees for push/pull config into the exhaust fan....... Than you could turn on all eye candy, max the 1080P out and be happy........for less $.

MY 760AMP is only 100% more powerful than my old DCU2 gtx460 1gb.

**edit** If i had of bought a 990 chipset AM3+ board i surely would have SLI'd my gtx460 and saved 200$$, but seeing as i would have needed a PSU for SLI-and a MOBO, I went with the much more powerful Zotac AMP 760 2gb...........I wish MWO had any ability to use phys X(having a use for the 460 in MWO would be nice seeing as every other game that utilizes phys gets huge benefits from dedicated 1gb gtx460)which is the best i can do with my M5A97EVO......

I'm actually looking at the price right now, and it looks like the 560TI is still going for enough money that selling his 2GB version would make getting something like a 770 only $150-$170 or so. A GTX 770 is as powerful as two 560TI in SLI, but you wouldn't have to deal with SLI's occasional quirks, and it would consume massively less power than two 560TIs, 180W vs 320W during intense gaming.

So all told I'm thinking getting a 770 is probably better, given the very high used prices of a 560TI, which I admit I didn't expect. The two drawbacks OP, is it will take work, and you'll be without your computer between selling the 560TI and getting the 770, unless you can afford to buy the new one first.

If $150 or a hair over is too much, sell the 560TI and get a 760. Then you'll only be spending $100.

Update: If i wanted/were to go the SLI Route, i could get a MSI Twin Frozr III 560Ti 2GB for $75 from this Guy: http://kitchener.kij...QAdIdZ565858576

All I would need is a extra $15

I Could be mistaken but the Twin Frozr cards are Factory OC and better Cooling then something like my EVGA 560Ti 2GB Correct? if so I could just get the Twin Frozr 560Ti 2GB for $75 and hopefully sell my EVGA 560Ti 2GB for $100-$120 to go towards Windows 7 or a new monitor/TV if I decide not to SLI Them.

Edit: Looking through this now: http://www.tomshardw...-nvidia-geforce
Looking through that thread from Febuary - September 2012, It says that 2GB VRAM is Overkill, 1GB should be fine, that likely the clock speed and stuff will be a Bottleneck before VRAM.

Decide now whether you want to SLI them or not. If you don't, sell your current card and get a faster card.

Neither a new copy of Windows, nor a better monitor will make you happy if your GPU is underpowered.

The only issue I see is that his resolution is low enough to not utilize anymore than a 460/470gtx (1280X1024??) Like having 600HP car with 2 donuts(spare tires) on the drive wheels ------> no traction, just smoke........the closer to 1080P u get to offload CPU(his obvious bottleneck) to GPU-------> clearly capable of running MAXED setting @ <1400X900@60hz, he needs to tune the living snot outta that 4100..........and ram, and use what hes got first.......I sold him that chip, I have had it stable @ 4.8ghz............@ 1080 on a 460 1gb..........with much better framerates........in MWO/

I forget now but what Voltage were you using to get 4.8GHZ? currently using AMD OverDrive and got it up to 4.6GHz at a voltage of 1.2625 (CPU-Z shows between 1.248 and 1.264) and using MSI Afterburner got core clock of my 560TI up to 925MHz ( 103MHz up from Stock), MWO Just Patched so I'll get on and Test it under the load of MWO.
Edit: 15-22.5 FPS on HPG at Theta in Heavy Combat (Very High/Maxed Settings), worse then it was at 4.4GHz
Tried War Thunder to see if it was as bad and it never tanked like MWO, but was still better at 4.4GHz. going to try upping Voltage again, next test will be voltage at 1.2875 (CPU-Z Shows 1.280), staying at 4.6GHz, setting Voltage to 1.3000 in AMD Overdrive underclocks it to 3.3GHz regardless of target
Edit 2: 1.2875 seams to be better by a little bit compared to 1.2625, 1.2000 @4.4 might still be better though, I'll just try going from 4.6 down to 4.5 and see how it goes.
Edit 3: Overall, not much difference, checking benchmark function of AMD OverDrive to see what get's highest score.
Based on 1st runs of benchmarks after the setting changes,
1.2000@4.4=System performance score of 6745
1.2875@4.4=5836
1.2875@4.5=6703
1.2875@4.6=6899
1.2875@4.7=6808
I don't think 4.8 would work so I didn't try it @ That
out of curiosity, I tried 1.300@ 4.6 Target (Actually downclocked to 3.3), it had a score of 5099

I used push+pull on hyper 212+ for 4.788ghz @ 1.440? MOBO was 228X21=4788mhz ...... you could set it to 1.350 and easily hit 4.6......but your temp could be an issue due to single fan config......my 1333ddr3 CL 7-7-7-21 2T ram was Ocd to 1502mhz CL 8-7-8-24-2T when set to 1333mhz with 200mhz FSB(no OC)
Each board has its own limits whether it be a VRM or chipset(adding makeshift cooling is underrated massively)
a 990is generally more OC able than any of the 970s ive had :)

Indeed the bios OC is the only way to go... anything else is problematic, to say the least.
generally speaking some settings for AM3+ to help give u an idea,
LLC load line calibration, Vrm attitudes......voltage>heat or vise versa
FSB stock 200mhz..............You could easily set this upwards in very small increments of 5 till roughly 220 where u would go in increments of 1..........Multipliers final CPU core speed drastically effected due to multiplier.
Vcore........1.350 should be a safe core voltage to start bumping clock speeds....proably get to 4.5 no problem....stress testing will determine if and how much u need to bump the voltage with the + key above right side(numpad) enter one bump per reset.
HT freq- aim for 2200-2600mhz generally but remember this will climb as u + FSB just like CPU speed. so start below where u want when FSB is about to go up.
NB freq- 2200-2600 generally but will climb with FSB + same as HT freq so start below target speed before tweaking FSB
And there is a ton of powersaving features inside all mobos as powersaving states HPComputing and anything throttle related or power saving have to be shut off.......

You should set ur ram to 1333 @ cl9 standard settings for head room to bump FSB as it will climb with HT NB and core clock...
thats why you see most peoples OC'd rigs having strange odd number ramspeed like my 1333ddr3 @ 1578mhz lol

Well, I got a new monitor now, it's a Acer A221HQL, 21.5" 1080P, Paid $60 for it with 2 VGA Cables, HDMI Cable and a HDMI to DVI Adapter:
http://www.canadacom...&item_id=059052

The guy I bought it from got it with a Alienware bundle he got last month, he was asking $75 for it.

Now the scale of work load should shift slightly to the GPU from CPU, as u go up in resolution, and with DX11 coming soon and pushing that balance again to the gpu side of the equation. you should be seeing better frame rates. Right now as u go up in resolution it may suffer a hit in fps, but the higher res. allows u to turn off things like AA, and Anistropic filtering, and still have it look alot better overall,
also try setting shadows to med, post processing med, keeping most other high or highest......should land u in a decent performing better looking area.

If u have some time over the next while we can go ahead and get you started on a FSB OC, and move away from the Mult. OC
I will help walk you through the small steps to get you more comfortable with adjustments/testing/benching/.

For now, enjoy the upgrade.

Current BIOS OC Settings:
CPU Clock Ratio: x22= 4774MHz
CPU North Bridge Freq: Auto= 2170MHz
CPU Frequency (MHz): 217
HT Link Frequency: x11= 2387MHZ (Would be about 28xxMHZ at auto and I remembered you saying under 2600MHZ)
Memory Clock: Auto= 1446MHz
CPU NB VID/CPU Voltage Controll: +0.150V= 1.3500V (CPU-Z Shows 1.312-1.328)

MWO Settings:
V-sync: Off

Effects: Very High
Object Detail: Very High
Particles: Very High
Post Processing: Very High
Shadeing: Medium
Shadows: Low
Texturing: Very High
Enviroment: Medium
PostAA: Off

Idle on Frozen city night in testing grounds I get 60-62FPS
In Match at HPG Manifold lowest I seen was drops/spikes down to 20-22FPS and 30-40 up to 60FPS

after Testing Grounds and match, I checked Gigabyte Easytune 6 for Temps, Showed System temp at 38*C, CPU was up to 59*C (I Alt Tabbed out after I died to check and it was up to 60*C then went back to spectate), and went down to 45*C after about a minute, if that Alt Tabbed out of MWO.

Keep in mind also GPU is OCed to 925MHz Via MSI Afterburner.

Okay now u need to monitor your CPU temps to see how close to crazy temps you are.(try some games with 2nd screen hooked up as extended desktop you can load gpu monitor on it,cpu temp and see how that 4100 is doing with 1 fan.........Than we talk DDR3..........tasty :)

**edit** you could bring NB up to 2400-2500 with no problems..... after 2600 its sketchy and needs voltage (see; pain in the arse)

As far as MWO settings goes, POST PROCESSING is the grainy textures or smog, in the distance, a massive CPU intensive process id put shaders up and post processing down. should give a healthy bump to FPS...........

Than after that your ddr3 is the next performance jump.....I just dont know your settings as far as what you could select for ram speeds at this moment and settings in bios. and we would look for reviews of OC your hyper X kingston????? 1600 CL9? post a link to exact set of sticks and we will start/ but OC ram past its natural 1600 is going to add heat......we may not want to do this......untill you have 2nd fan/

On a side note, I love how FSB OCs make your mouse clicks respond faster. when my FSB is 200mhz (stock) no matter my cpu clock speed I wait for the response.
