First of all i'm playing this game about 5 to 6 weeks and if the following doesn't happen, im doing pretty good for my thoughts.

1. Cowards..... there are lots of ppl in Assault Mechs who just hides behind the others and don't wanna make a step forward before others in lighter mechs dont do it.

I have seen Atlas Mechs waiting until the Battle is almost over, then step out with 100% armor and kill the rest of the enemies.. Meanwhile they hiding in a map's corner and just doing nothing. Doesn't matter wich type of game (Conquest, Assault, Skirmish) is played.

2. Freaking LRM rain. one or two fast light mechs are enough to keep track of the target and you will get ****** by like 1000 LRMs. AMS sucks and you cant always hide behind stuff when there is somebody in a light mech wants to shoot your back. You have to move!

Until the Trial Stalker appeared it wasn't that bad like it is right now. Everybody is just hiding somewhere, standing still while pushing one button and thats it. How poor and annoying is that?

And to be honest, lots of ppl just dont have the brain to flank the enemy and take out the LRM suckers. Even Atlas, Highlander and other Heavy/Assault Mechs are only carrying LRMs with them and don't take a step forward... just launching one LRM wave after another and this isn't funny anymore. Players like this should mark and keep their targets by themselves to avoid this goddamn annoying playstile. One damn Firestarter (who doesn't take any serious dmg for his 30 tons by the way) is enough and i'm melted by thousands of missiles... even while trying to dodge them behind hills/houses or whatever.

THIS JUST SUCKS.

Flame on!

oh and:

1. i play fast medium mechs, everyone is carrying AMS,

2. i'm good in dodging missiles IF they come from one or two locations but its senseless if they swarm out of like 5 or more mechs, each with at least one LRM 15 and there is no bridge where i can hide underneath.

3. i have a brain to think tactical but i'm mostly alone when it comes to flanking or taking out the LRM boats.

4. no, i'm not a good loser. i can lose a match no matter how i will be defeated EXCEPT when i get melted by LRMs aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall day long without any chance.

its okay for me to die to a 2xAC20 Jager, or a brawling Atlas or whatever kills me while active fighting me.. Its my fault to die then... But its a pain in the ass when there's another game where i just die because of so many missiles.

5. Every game i play where's almost no LRM suckers on each side is ALLWAYS a good game because the players are thinking about what they do first and... thats the point... they fight.

Regarding LRMs, all I can advise you to do is to learn the maps, http://mwo.smurfy-ne...peaks&m=assault. Second, take command and give a few orders. Sometimes players will come to you and support your flanking maneuvers.

Hi,

thanks for answer.

after one week playing i already knew the maps and know what to do or wich coordinates the players are prefering to attack/defend, thx for that.

The map in your link is the best example... running up the hill at H9 and defend it is the key because everybody just meet in the center of the maps and wanna start a brawl... another point are the open field underneath it.. good for any LRM launchers.
But there are still players who dont get it... standing in front of the hill and getting killed be those who where faster up there.

i've had two matches on this map earlier today and everytime i was the only one who just runs up the hill before the enemy could take it... i took a look at the (mini)map and my teammates where just standing around, waiting until somebody else did the first step. meanwhile the opposing team rushed the mountain and almost killed me.

THEN my teammates started to charge the hill but it was too late, getting shoot into pieces from up there like rabbits.

i just don't get it...

another thing i dont get : LRMs have a minimum and maximum range, all the idiots are shooting whenever they get a lock, doesnt matter how far or how near they got me. as soon as i make a step out of cover i hear that damn sound... not only once or twice.. no it just keeps talking "warning, Incoming Missiles" "warning, Incoming Missiles" "warning, Incoming Missiles" "warning, Incoming Missiles" "warning, Incoming Missiles" "warning, Incoming Missiles" "warning, Incoming Missiles"

then i know.. ok, its again a game like it is in 90% of the games at these times.. poor, boring, annoying, frustrating....

This game is stand off sniper wars, with the odd bit of LRMs thrown in.

If more support was given to the idea of roles and Mediums more encouraged in this game as opposed to heavier and slower Mechs playing turtle blob wars at distance the idea of mobile tactics might be more relevant.

However, the short game plays second fiddle to a long range dominant AC/PPC fest that does not allow easy encroachment to the blob or entrenched positions. Can be done, but not with confidence, and not ideally by more mobile Mechs like Mediums as they then have to face multiple opposition of larger scale and firepower who can still defend well at the short range anyhow.

Seeing more LRMs on the field, even if pugging however does mean that at least there are less snipers being used. So in theory a little bit more diversity is good to potentially see here. But until the short game gets some love and/or tonnage restrictions are applied in April you will have to accept that the Medium whilst not completely useless is mostly in game as a pinata for heavier Mechs at range.

Agree with the assault thing, the rest is called, teamwork. Welcome to a team game, you don't want little lights pestering you and holding tag on you, then play in a group. And have lights of your own, or light killers.

we will see what will happen in april... ;)

i love playing my mediums and i'm doing good in them. i can accept getting killed by a sniper.. or not.. i can sneak in his back and give him my fire..

but i cannot accept getting killed by (_insert random hundred number here_) missiles when i just take a little step out of cover while i have to fight somebody else who's shooting my back. One step is enough and it will rain ...

LRMs are a major part of the weapon system, look how many stock designs carry LRMs. Proper tactics are needed to defend against LRMs, which includes taking proper cover, killing spotters, and sending lights to harass the enemy missile platforms. It's not complicated.

to be honest, if the lights are doesn't do that, then they are almost useless.. BUT ... there are way too many ppl who just standing around in a corner and pushing one button, launching 50 missiles at once, crippling your mech who has no chance of fighting back. AMS doesn't work against this many missiles and dodging it while (not only lights) fighting others in your back isn't possible all the time.

yeah its teamwork, yes its okay but not in those dimensions.

Pugs hide because there is no coordination with a keyboard and most are sick of being cannon fodder for premades. I would say one out of 30 matches I might see a premade communicate their intentions but that really is rare.

The hide and seek lances are annoying and to just hide till the end is a cowards tactic. Watching your teamamtes get shredded so you can have it easy is wrong no matter how you slice it.

Lack of comms is the biggest culprit in my view and second the idea that pugs are fill second.

As far as anyone calling premades on comms and pugs on keyboards teamwork I think they are the most delude posters here.
Thats not teamwork. [redacted]

I really don't understand the problems some people have with LRMs. Within a few minutes of the match starting you'll know if the other side has strong LRM support or not. If they do have a couple of LRM boats then simply stick to cover. If you're getting hit by LRMS from all directions you're doign something wrong.

I'm frequently piloting medium mechs and whenever I face a team with heavy LRM support I start probing their flanks. Often enough I manage to sneak behind their lines and end up behind a Catapult.

I can probably count the number of times I got wrecked by multiple LRM boats in the open on one or two hands. Sure, it sucks and one feels completely helpless in such a situation. But compared to death by PPC, AC or Gauss it's rather the exception than the norm.

It seems a lot of people are having problems adapting to strong LRM presence and continue to play as usual. With non-surprising results.

it gets complicated when ppl start arming their mechs almost only with LRMs, doesn't matter wich mech it is... arming nothing else because they knew what LRMs can and will do at present.

Taking cover doesn't work when you're in a fight and somebody locked you, believe me, i know how it should work.. my playstile is like that but i won't cry here about LRMs when it is so easy.

most of the "spotters" are playing for their own.

sending lights to harass... good joke ;) spiders, jenners, firestarters are mostly play for their own, arming PPC, ELL or LRMS too and start sniping.. i dont get it

i'm doing exactly THIS... but i said before, i'm almost the only one doing this, the catapult turns around, locks me and i'm dead because ther's not only one catapult/stalker or whatever carries LRMs, no, there are LOTS and i can't flee that fast (i mostly play hit and run or sneaking up single mechs ... but they can also lock you and then i begins to rain) to avoid getting crippled (if i'm unlucky)

i'm not an idiot, i know how it works.. its just too much!

i had lots of games where the opposing sides are standing in a line on each side just fighting with LRMS.. each mech! no lasers, no PPCs, no ACs.. only LRMs...

ok thats no big deal to avoid the rain then... but it shows whats going on right now.

When you start on the left side, then you can't take the hill before the other team is there. But you can counter it and you don't know it.
Move on the K/L-line to the right side of the map, covered by hills, then up the 11/12-line to H11 and H12, while your light mechs make sure that the enemy team is still on their hill. If they left hill then they lost their advantage as well.
H11/12 is higher than H9 and all at H9 have no cover. Furthermore they can't rush your base anymore because you are already at their base.
The problem is that only a few people listen to orders in pug games and moving to H11/12 all together needs some coordination.

You never get tired of making every single post made by anyone a pug vs premade thing.

If even a fraction of what you preach is truth then most pugs are inept twits and every premade player is a mustache twisting deviant.

I will now provide some useful information and not push some personal vendetta.

Firstly I will tell the OP why it's simply bad,no horribly bad tactics to commit an assault mech to pushing forward either unsupported or into an unknown situation.

Assault mechs are the slowest and largest targets available. They are very easy to hit and possess some serious offensive potential. This is why assault mechs get focused fired (even by Pugs it's that obvious).

So,when an assault mech breaks cover to lead the charge it's life expectancy is measured in seconds. If an assault mech is the first enemy spotted everyone within range has pressed R and that is now EVERYONES target and even the newest of the new mech pilots can hit a mech plodding about at 50ish kph.The assault mech will vanish under concentrated fire and in the proccess has inflicted very little damage on the enemy.

You have now traded an assault mech for aproximatley one salvo from it's guns. Also, everyone else is still hiding behind cover until the next "brilliant" tactician feeds the enemy another mech.

The proper choice for being "first" in would be what ever is the smallest and hardest to hit target in your drop.A light mech is optimal for sowing disorder in an enemy gun line.

Dart out with a light running at three times the speed of an assault mech and one third the target profile and when the entire enemy team presses R they have targeted a fast evasive target they will not likely hit.

NOW is when you commit the big stuff because there is a pretty good chance several of the enemy are currently tracking a light mech zipping by them at 150kph.

Your assault mech can now clear cover, locate a target and fire a few salvos off before most of the enemy has figured out it's happening.

Evasion is ALWAYS superior to armor not getting hit does no damage.

This of course is assuming you are not in a 12 v 12 premade because obvious diversionary tactics have a high likelyhood of failure in the premade arena of combat.

Of course you cannot address the issue raised in my post just that I have one track in my posting. Then you post this...

"This of course is assuming you are not in a 12 v 12 premade because obvious diversionary tactics have a high likelyhood of failure in the premade arena of combat. "

I find cover works well against LRM's and if they are still hitting you in cover. Then turn around and get the light behind you. He is probably standing still.

that was no response, that was nonsense because i've already said that i will and can take cover. but sometimes it is just not possible and THEN you're f***ed by tons of missiles. Read before posting.

and the only time i've seen you in games were when you just were running around the borders of the map in in your light mech, wasting everybodies time.

btw: you spanked nothing but the time of players on each side.

well.. cya
