Its definitely a messed up system.

Shooting assault mechs in the arms and legs and racking up damage is worth way more than killing them efficiently with headshots or well-placed backshots.

This is the only game I know of where killing the enemy as inefficiently as possible is rewarded.
That's why there is a GOLD RUSH every time an enemy mech disconnects- and now we have the added drama of semirandom spawn spots!

Everyone wants to farm for those sweet, precious c-bills.

"Is the best way help your team to load as much pin-point damage on the CT of your enemy as possible ignoring everything else?"

Not always on the CT, sometimes it's best to hit the side torso or legs.

Oh come on...we know how this goes. What chance does some wimpy Italian politician have against a super soldier? I don't know why we're even having this conversation.

The "best way" is to shoot at mechs your teammates are shooting at, where your teammates are shooting at them. In other words, if your teammate is shooting at (and at least most of the time, hitting) the legs of an enemy mech, you should shoot at that mech's legs too, not it's CT.

Great now do it again using whatever mech you have the most success with for all matches and when playing "friendly" actually drop with a premade that will also be team oriented because trying to "help" a selfish puggy who will gladly use you for sheild is not team play it being a sucker.

I prefer to play my Awesome-9M (3x PPC) in more of a support/bombardment role. If i see my team make contact, i will run to wherever they are and start hammering anything that is firing on my team. Most players will turn and run for the nearest cover after taking a trio of PPC rounds to the gut.

Even with my 3x LB-X Muro, i go for Side Torsos, Arms and Legs more than kill shots. Funnily enough, its also my highest earning 'Mech. Even among my Heros.

lol ... you dont send a manipulative scholar against Cap. You send a Sith ... lightsaber beats bs shield.

Peace is a lie, there is only prowess. Even the trashborn know that.

If you want to grind c bills grab a hero mech, throw in an Advanced Sensor Range Module, Advanced Targeting Decay, and a BAP on your mech. That lets you get more spotting assists in. Dont forget to hit the "R" button. The BAP will give you ECM counter c bills as well. If you can get the enemy to fight on caps, let them. Defense Assists are good as well. Run an assault ... I suggest the Victor if you can target mechs and are accurate. Run a Highlander if you arent.

Beyond that, you are at the mercy of the Pug lottery. Sometimes they will be good. If you are good, they are guaranteed to be horrible. If you are on a team that is good, they will be the bottom of the barrel. That is just the Match Making system that PGI has in place.

Whoah there slugger! Too many variables at play and too small a sample size to make those predictions! If you want to be all scientific about this, you should give multiple people the same build and have them drop with the instructions to play nice or play selfish. Then track average xp and cbill income over, say, 50 matches each to see what happens. Also of note is to track WLR and KDR, along with average damage and kills between the two groups. Also, take a THIRD group, give them no particular instructions (except build to use) and track those stats. All you've proved so far is that your own personal play style is more suited to solo/selfish play than team/cooperative play, and even then, not well.

D'awww... Captain America actually had conflicts with Mussolini, but I can't find any good pics (and now that I think about it, I don't think most people would recognize a comic book depiction of him on sight anyway).

Players tend to min/max, the best way to deal with that in game design is to ensure that the "favored" play style and the main focus of the game is the one that's rewarded most. If you want to reward team play, then you need less personal rewards and more team rewards.

The only team rewards currently in the game are the win/lose reward, the resource reward in Conquest, and salvage. Raise these rewards or add additional rewards to encourage team play. (ANd yes, that will also create people that try to AFK farm - but if you AFKing lead to less salvage, less resources gained, and less win rewards, this means worse rewards for the AFK farmer, too. As long as no one is punished for trying to fight together with the team - like with R&R - you should do mostly fine.)

An additional team reward: Give the winning team bonus points for each kill the team achieved (no matter who did it) and for assists achieved (no matter who did it, again).

I think this is more current self-centered human nature than anything PGI did. People who have played sports, been in the military, or even raided in WOW understand teamwork. Most of our player base doesn't understand supporting their team mates in battle. How many times has that Atlas tried to push a flank to find the 5 guys he thought were following him sudddenly hide behind rocks and let the enemy murder the Atlas. Then they start hunting down each of the cowards and murdering them. 4-mans help, the occasional good pug who sees what your doing and helps is rare. Problem is outside of 12V12, its rolling the dice on what you get for team mates, will you get the guys who played team sports, military guys, or succesful gaming teams or will you get the People who are Pop-tarts, only concerned about their personal glory, or the wierd panicy guy who actually tries to run away from the enemy and gets mercilessly gunned down in the back.

In short its people, not the game.
