I think this is more current self-centered human nature than anything PGI did. People who have played sports, been in the military, or even raided in WOW understand teamwork. Most of our player base doesn't understand supporting their team mates in battle. How many times has that Atlas tried to push a flank to find the 5 guys he thought were following him sudddenly hide behind rocks and let the enemy murder the Atlas. Then they start hunting down each of the cowards and murdering them. 4-mans help, the occasional good pug who sees what your doing and helps is rare. Problem is outside of 12V12, its rolling the dice on what you get for team mates, will you get the guys who played team sports, military guys, or succesful gaming teams or will you get the People who are Pop-tarts, only concerned about their personal glory, or the wierd panicy guy who actually tries to run away from the enemy and gets mercilessly gunned down in the back.
In short its people, not the game.
