Actually, it appears (since it is stated on the stats-challenges page twice, referring to stats and to challenge rewards) that it will take up to 15 minutes for your stats to be updated after a match, and it will take up to 15 minutes for a reward to be issued after a challenge is completed. This is why some people have had to wait up to 30 minutes. Also it looks like it might check for rewards after you return to the home/'Mechlab after finishing a match or logging in.
Yup, which is why I recommend just dropping another time or two. Then again, I got this on Friday about an hour after it was announced, so the times might be getting longer with more people on and playing for it.

So my question PGI is, Now What?
You have got a whole bunch of players out of retirement with this fantastic offer.
Here's hoping the tuesday patch gives them reason to stay and spend lots of coin.
Good luck
Many MC purchases are waiting for you
BTW: would love a high tech inner sphere weapons pack to give me something to buy instead of clans
I'll never buy clans, Defend the Sphere!

I decided to try an experiment during the Centurion Challenge. Earn a Centurion with 4 different accounts.
- Main account 6 games and complete.
- New account with Cadet standing, 9 games and complete.
- Existing account with sub 1 KDR/WL 15+ games.
- Second existing account with another sub 1 KDR/WL 15+ games.
What does it mean? I am still trying to figure that out myself. Obviously my skill didn’t change in the short span of this contest, and if anything I was at my worst in main account, shaking off the ring-rust.
As best I can figure, my main was teamed up with equivalent Elo pilots against vastly lower Elo opponents, same with TEST 3 and 4, they had equivalent Elo allies but placed against vastly superior opponents.
The only account that had any semblance of balance was TEST 2, which was still clinging to the -200 Elo Cadet bonus.
TLDR;
The point being, it appears that Elo is cluster PER GROUP. If you have a high Elo, you will be teamed with high Elo, the opposition will be group with Elo players in their range regardless of opponent Elo. Which generates a inverse difficult scale, meaning the lower your Elo the tougher you matches (since you will be partnered with low Elo players against a group that likely has higher Elo average). While the higher your Elo the easier the game is as you compete against lower Elo opponents.
The goal of this post is to encourage PGI to look at their telemetry (every time I hear that word I envision someone using air quotes) and see if this is the exception or the rule, and if it is the rule figure out how to fix it, because difficultly level is sloping in the wrong direction.

Also with the ELO thing you need to check play times.
Some times of the day/night the pool of players is small and you are being thrown up against very good players.
So if you could record play times that would help work out if your theory is valid.

I submitted a bug report, but I guess I wont hear anything until tomorrow due to the weekend. I keep getting the pop-up saying that they added stuff to my inventory, but there is nothing there and now I waited 24h, and still I get the same annoying pop-up while the mech is no-show. I want to take this mech out for a spin!

This was not easy for a new gamer like me to do. My win \ lose ratio is something awful like 1 \ 5. The new mech looks cool. :-)
