Yeah, given that this most benefits newer players, it's counterproductive to put the bar high. 5-10 seems a good number to me. Mostly it's for showing up to a noticeable degree.

Now I'm usually one who comes up here only to troll and make snide remarks and this is the first positive comment I've made for PGI in a long time but I gotta log on and make it. This is a great promo to get people back and trying the game out. Hopefully it is good enough to keep people around... but this is the kinda promo I'd grind all weekend in MWO for... free mechs. I am actively and honestly thrilled with this. I’ve been contemplating snagging a CN9-A© for a while now, having grabbed the Yen-Lo-Wang during a previous sale. Now, all I have to do is jump in-game for a day or two and pound some skulls and I get to try out my second Cent pro-bono. Guess what I’m doing when I get home from work tonight? Not to mention how incredible a boon this is for new/casual players without much time or money to sink into the game.

I wholeheartedly approve of gifts like this, and not just because I’m benefitting from it. Even if I already had a CN9-A© - even if I couldn’t play this weekend – gestures like this can go a long way towards proving that you care about your players and generates a lot of goodwill. As a few others have said, I’m a lot more willing to shell out for a Clan pack to a company that’s willing to do things like this for its community. Good show, Piranha. I will be claiming my new Centurion with thanks before the night is out.
