I love it when the content of the entire thread can be summed up in the title.

OP changed the title of the thread. Rendering my post less funny.

Bad form OP, Bad form.

we do need a game mode that forces teams to play a bit differently, like some kind of seek and destroy mode where an attacking team must destroy say, 3/5 objectives on a map and a defending team must prevent it.

They have already said the Clan tech won't be as OP as it was in the TT.

As to the OP's assertion that the devs can make changes and "see what happens" shows he doesn't understand how the real world works. If this was just some house rule changes for a TT session at the OP's house sure go for it. A major **** up here could cost them big money and so the are going to work it in slowly. Also they just needed ACs remember? How about "letting them see what happens" with that and collect some data on it before making more changes?

And you base your foresight on seeing the group changes coming?

All you experts missed that one. Kept telling me groups were OP. Sorry credibility lost is near impossible to regain

I will admit that this game has gotten dull. I hate the first half of every match where the poptarters jump and snipe. I pretty much sit behind a hill looking at a Highlander's arse for 4 minutes until the semi-brawling starts. Then I have fun for 3 minutes until the game is essentially over. Rinse and repeat.

So.... is it true what they don't wear under there? And why do you spend so much time looking at it when you should be out fighting?

I can here the rebuttal now, But If we destroy all the enemy we can destroy the objectives without a problem! I hear the same thing for Conquest & Assault.

Well, we could always play Aerospace and destroy the drop ships before they hit the ground, no need for mech combat.

I guess it depends on where you want to focus the game around.

You can have the current "away from target" engagement where destroying the enemy facilitates whatever the objective is as Joseph highlights. Or a closer to the objective battle ground where the target might be caught up in the battle.

Both are fine by me.

Please don't misunderstand, I like the idea, I just was predicting the argument that would follow its introduction.

Also, Dropships are surprisingly squishy!

Yeah....keep thinking that. Depending on the dropship and it's loadout, your odds of taking one with the remains of a company are pretty slim. Try taking an Overlord (or Overlord-C) with 5 or 6 Battlemechs.

it is easy to tell if something works, people use it, if it doesn't they don't.

I don't find that to be true. I think many players choose mechs/builds because of what other players say works.
Imo if players used what works well there'd be a lot more Jagermechs with stock weapons.

Major side affect of skirmish mode & lack of objectives.

The jumpsnipers in their fatties screamed everytime someone capped their base, now, you can pick a spot, stay there and snipe each other to pieces with no objectives.

you guys got what you asked for.

On an AeroSpace Map... I should have clarified. Drop Ships are squishy on a Aerospace map. Considering that Fighers can be grouped together in up to ten So they are now carrying the equal armor of a Corvette. And though much shorter range, can have as much punch as a Destroyer. So a Squadron of 10 Slayers have a 100 point AC and 50 forward firing Medium Lasers for fighting a Drop Ship. Then there is the 10x Armor for each section!

Unless, Squadron rules have changed much in the hard cover rules.

Just do what I do. have something to read handy, but have your screen in your field of vision- or listen to an audiobook. You can learn about ancient cultures, or neuroscience, or whatever you like.

Then once the action starts, you can go "pew pew" for a few minutes, then rinse and repeat.

Dead serious, I've started watching shows on my second screen while I play MWO. Between waiting to find a match, waiting for people to ready up in the launch screen, and waiting for the action to start, I get lots of time to watch shows.

ShadowVFX, your right and even after the match starts you will get the players still alt tab'ed out or just AFk'ing. Then you get the players that just walk around waiting until the match is half over to look for damaged mechs for some easy kills or component destruction.

I would love a respawn system and no match delay, I mean how may times do you want to wait for others and watch your mech power up? Then when you die you have to wait until they find the last powered down spider if you want to play that mech again.

It makes the game slow and thus boring to me.

They key to balance the meta is to create more of an unblalance in weapons. For example, make LRMs do a ton of damage, just make them really hard to land (slower moving maybe). Make SRMs do a ton of damage, just make their range really short.

People will make specialized/boating mechs regardless of what changes are made. At least have viable options of those specialized/boating mechs and the meta will change.
