Funny enough, when I google 'neo-feminist' the first images are women painting their breasts and 'getting naked for muslim women'. Different cause, same results. :)

The motivation is the whole point. Women being sexy because they want to be not because they need to be.

Anyway, I do think that PGI did try and reinvent the wheel with MWO and really could have saved themselves a lot of time and headache and put your standard features in with UI, communications, etc. I do have to laud them for doing the server side hit detection as that eliminates pretty much every aimbot hack out there and saves us lots of fustration.

Maybe they are realizing that the island is a lot bigger and more populated than they thought and maybe that island is turning out to be most of their player base.

Just playing devil's advocate. Your both assuming that PGI is arranging the information in a manner which creates an error in their percentages. In truth until PGI tells us exactly how they count each drop and whether they count a group drop as 1 or count each person in that drop separately to get their statistics, we can't really argue against the numbers they have given us.

I am inclined to believe that 84% number as PGI even stated that it suprised them and it seems to be giving them something to think about as they continue development.

Nah, we're showing how a year plus of not doing ANYthing to support groups has changed the dynamic. If McDonald's stopped selling big macs then I'm sure their numbers and demographics and stats would show that big mac sells have dropped while another menu item increased.

It's THAT kinda thing that I'm pointing out and that has nothing to do with data collection (although based on several of PGI's collection methods they've shown us I'm convinced they don't need to be reviewing that data), it has to do with causality and correlations.

Of course group numbers have dwindled.
People in groups have left because
it's easier to do so in other game
PGI has refused from day 1 to include rudimentary functions such as lobbies
PGI has placed hard limits on those groups making it more difficult to function as a large organized unit, clan, etc.
PGI has flat out stated groups are not important to them anymore outside of 12mans so they are doing nothing to support that demographic.

(a little snark here but not directed at you personally) Gee, I wonder why in the world group numbers have dropped.....

I hate to say it, but I had to give up playing this game with my friends. Every time we grouped up it was like putting the game on hard mode (as if it wasn't hard enough already). When solo dropping I get on the 'good' team ~40-50% of the time. And sometimes it's actually a nice even game. With my friends it's just awful. We felt so outmatched. We'd just get our asses kicked over and over again. I actually felt kinda relieved when they quit, because I enjoyed the game more without them

It's not like we are some sort of clan or hardcore badasses. Just a bunch of noobs that wanna play together. My friends aren't going to get good either. They freaking quit the game months ago. They hated the unbalanced matches and grinding way too much. I guess it just wasn't fun enough to care about getting better at. Maybe if the grind wasn't so bad, I don't know.

I only really play this still because I like mechs. I wish the mechs were tougher though; and combat slower, more methodical. bleh whatever that's a different topic.

I wouldn't know if the matchmaking has improved since ~October when they quit. I'd imagine it's the same. Probably wouldn't matter anyway. They hate this game.

i agree with this, on top of that when i group up with friends, somehow i do worse off.
i don't know if it's my elo or my friends' elo; but we get teams that can't break 100. ALWAYS.
when i drop solo i only get that kinda teams when i end up in conquest matches sometimes - something about calculating elo just makes no sense in a group setting - ingame.
add a good player to your 4 man and you're in elo hell.
add a noob and only your team is learning how to move their torso
add both and your team is noob in elo hell

Oh I quite agree that the reason that the statistics show that 84% of drops are Pugs is that PGI has not put any type of functionality for groups into the game. The only reason that I haven't joined a group is that there is Zero advantage/reason in game to do so. If PGI would have had at least a basic lobby that separated each faction and fix the matchmaker to drop us by faction then at least players could do a bit of role playing even if it is only in our heads.
