MOST of the time, when I see someone getting called out on something in this regard it boils down to a few reasons and outcomes.

1.) Opinion stated as fact
2.) Opinion stated as truth
3.) Opinion attacks someone else or their opinion
4.) Opinion stated for the 23458947th time in the 345072nd duplicate thread

Opinions are great. Opinions are what shape our perception of reality. Some forget that though and even worse, forget that theirs is not the only opinion or that their opinion is not "right" or "wrong".

It goes both ways though. I get attacked for saying things as simple as "I don't like this idea, I like the current way better", I mean seriously. I've literally been called a troll and white knight for stating nothing more than that. So when someone posts an opposing opinion it gets attacked because it doesn't jump on the OPs bandwagon a lot of times.

Then you throw in the fact that a LOT of people want to make this personal. They take arguments, opposing views, etc. to their opinion as a personal slight to themselves instead of realizing that it's just a remark about their idea.

Ever notice how most debates like that end on here between two adults as opposed to some of the more childish elements around here? It usually goes something like

Player A "Idea!"
Player B "Bad idea!"

Player A"good idea because!"
Player B"bad idea because!"
(a few debating posts back and forth)

Player A"Agree to disagree"
Player B"Agree to disagree"
*hugs and pizza all around*

When you throw in the more trollish around here it goes more like
Troll "Idea!"
Player A "bad idea"

Troll "Arrrrgh (incomprehensible drivel here and there) you're a dumb dumb!"
Player A "Ok, gpclose sparky"
(then a few more trolls sensing the blood in the water swim into the area and Player A now valiantly tries to fight off the impending attack"

And that is why I stay out of most of the forum... ;)

While there are quite a few of the other examples happening all over the place - I tend to attract the trolls.
(or even people who aren't outright trolling - but have little tolerance for other opinions)

Well theirs the Ghost bear khan Aletha Kabrinski Though she seems to lost some her looks later on, though she is an Elemental turned Mechwarrior (Bio indicates she is an elemental, as is her surname).

As for the OP I think part of the hostility you are facing is not so much that you dislike the clans but you have been using inaccurate or misleading info on them in your augments. And the fact that it was not until much latter that it was noticed that your using secondary and tertiary sources as your primary means of learning about the universe.

For example this

I know how you Clanners are just people born in a metal can okay. And I know that they discourage wasting rescources but I don't remember any of that going on when Turtle Bay happened and according to Sarna nothing happened to any of those Warriors who nuked it off the face of the planet. And probably the reason they lived such a short life is because they are essentially pieces of cloned DNA that has been altered severely (which is realistic to life. There was a cloned sheep that only live 3 years not that long ago). One more thing to add to their lack of brilliance.

So actually they really shafted themselves with their Eugenics system because it did not allow for many people to be born each year. Another thing to add to lack of thinking.

So in reality the Clans are {Godwin's Law}... Nice. I give them 2 thumbs way way way up their ass. And they deserved every bad thing that happened to them. Seriously what you said there is that they saw them selves as a superior breed of Human the same that the South did 150 years ago and that the {Godwin's Law} did 70 years ago. Literally. The {Godwin's Law} did genetic mutation on several things then (including people), and saw themselves as a superior breed of Human. Sounds just like the Clans except the Clans succeeded in making themselves no longer worth calling Humans. Although I would rather not associate the Human race with {Godwin's Law} either.

This entire post is garbage
First off The Jaguar Galaxy commander (Cordera Perez) was replaced by Star Colonel Dietr Osis due to this incident, Further more the source book dose state that many clanners where horrified at the act (as was the guy who took his spot). In response the Wolves bid away their warships, so that this would not happen again, and the others soon followed suit.
To be fair I am not aware what happened to Perez after words, the text dose not say

Second The Clans do not clone per say, most clan warriors are not copy's of their ancestors (no clones of Alexander running around that I am aware of), and their not that heavily modified from baseline humans in any case. Each clan trueborn warrior is as distinct as regular humans can be, though they might have upwards of 50 brothers and sisters. Genetic modifications is rather limited (to be fair as of 3145 their seems to be some movement into more significant modifications in some of the remaining clans). for all practical purpose the system is more of a strong selective breading system.

Also the clans have a very high birth rate in part due to their system (IIRC around 2.3 percent)

Lastly your final paragraph dose not make you very many friends nor dose it help in your arguments, as that is a rather gross miss-characterization of the Clans (their are similarity's sure but you can find similarity's in a lot of other places)

Then after this and other rather hostile posts (in terms of the Clans) other start calling you out at which you go of and say please stop harping on me.

Also from the start I was constantly under flame

It should be important to notice that they were not trying to FLAME you.

That was very much one of those circumstances where (like in politics - which is a bad comparison here but the best I could think of at the moment) your opinion and views on the matter clashed with the generally accepted setting.

Does that mean they were right?
No

Does that mean they were flaming you?
No more than you were flaming them.

What it does mean is that there was a failure to communicate - which both sides tried to rectify - and both sides failed to succeed at.

ok here's an idea

Miss BattleTech contest.
Pick your favorite pic of your favorite fictional character and we'll have a beauty contest for Btech! (we could even have a male and female competition. Whoever submits the winner gets a cool signature banner!) What do you guys think?

Well here's the thing about opinions, yours are right, but so are everyone's, which basically means everyone is wrong, because every opinion out there will have a counterpoint.

The problem you are having is actually caring about other people's opinion of your opinion in the first place. If you recognize that no one cares about your opinion on the matter and you don't care about anyone else opinion, everyone is happy because no one really gives a crap about anything.

See, simple.
