What possibly could you sell in the "Social" aspect that is worth speaking of?

Showing you have a Clan pack pic in your friends/social list (could also be added like PP/Founders tags in matches)?

Showing you can colorize your own name or your friends names?

Showing you can colorize your chat messages?

Giving you a special popup notification for particular players you designate that log into the game?

Seriously, I came up with these the moment that was added. It's a non-starter.

that movie obviously looks like 2 competitive 12-man teams playing each other since they'r all using the same tactics and are staying grouped together. i'v been playing 5+ games almost every single day for the last 9 months and that movie is not even CLOSE to my actual daily experience with PUGs. poptarts are only effective against rookies who stand in the middle of the open without cover - if you learn the maps, stay on the move and stay near cover both poptarts and LRMs become a minor to moot threat

before this gets off tracks let me say this: this is not another "i was killed by x mech nerf this nerf that" thread. my W/L and K/D ratios are fine and even if they werent i still wouldnt cry about it. there are a million other games out there i can go and play. i dont run meta builds either but you cant argue that this tactic gives u an edge in the current game state

i m not even arguing that poptarting should be complteley removed. it has a place in the game but it cant be dominant thing. yeah it is like this for a long time and PGI made it even easier with arms torso lock. to make it easier for new players...seriously? i mean new players come in and they dont even bother checking what battletech and mechwarrior has to offer, they just go straight to "poptart config A" or "poptart config B" because thats what they read in the forums and thats what they see in game.

i dont know if that was a 12man drop. and even if it was it makes no difference.

What the video shows is the current meta because of the lack of limitations in this game.

Known facts:
  • JJs cause 1.5 heat on use
  • JJ turn effectiveness is based on ground based turn rate w/ effeciencies accounted for
  • Any mech can run 1 JJ for max effectiveness
  • Most meta mechs run all of their weapons on one side to utilize a shield arm/side
  • Most meta try hards abuse arm lock, or the toggle, with the above point to take advantage of...
  • ....Convergence is insane
Is it sad? Completely. Is it unbeatable? Nope.

But do you want to know what is really sad? It isn't that it is the meta. It is the fact that this game is full of either try hards that want to min/max everything because winning is the only goal and then the mass amounts of wanna-bes that see videos and think that they can do the same thing. They come to the boards and boast about their "skillz" or they see the boasting and comply with the BS that they're being spoon fed. The tryhards chastize anyone that doesn't conform so the wannabe fall in line so as to not get called out. The rest of us kind of scratch our heads and go on about our business with mixed results. I hopped off of the jump sniper build because it was deplorable seeing everyone doing it. That isn't to say that I don't run something similar (still have my jump capable AC20 Hatamoto-Ku) but I'll be damned if I run along like a bunch of mindless lemmings praerie dogging every game in which I play.

I'm honestly tired of the current game, and the inability for varied loadouts to be truely effective (Sorry Joseph).

I have 40 million c-bills banked, and can't bring myself to buy another mech, because I am just staring at them thinking "Does it have jump jets and can I pack AC's/PPC's".

I almost bought an Orion...which when they were first announced I was pumped for...but the hardpoints and how they are setup on the mech and lack of jump jets...meh.

This game needs some fundamental changes, it doesn't matter how good CW/Launch Module/Whatever is if we stay on the current balancing path.

It's not just about weapon balance...which is a part of it mind you. But it's the underlying game mechanics, including but not limited too the heat scale, pinpoint convergence and hardpoint customization.

Nerf weapons that are doing 3-20x damage to 2x armor, fix the unbalanced frontloaded aspect of some weapons, since all others have a built in spread mechanic which makes them sub-par.

Ultimately, that is the analysis of which mechs are based off of in general. I don't have the time to manage a tier-list, but it's easy to name off the best and worst mechs, and whether it's worthwhile to invest time exploring them. I can tell you with good confidence, there's literally like one dominant meta heavy, and only the Jager is second fiddle.

People need to act like nerfing a weapon is always a bad thing for the game.

I personally think range's need to be looked at.

When the "LONG RANGE MISSILES" are actually worse to use at long range than PPC's, ER PPC's, Large Lasers, ER Large Lasers and every AC...it gets really silly.

My brain knows all this, my heart wants to drop in an Orion with an LRM 20, some Large Lasers, and some SRM's and go romp.

But if I actually starte doing that...i'd quickly start hating myself when my team lost...and I knew I could've helped more with a real build.

What i got from that video, plenty of solo minded amateurs (and one or two good players) vert jumping as opposed to side jumping, standing out in open lanes, popping corners in slow assault mechs on their own vs more than one enemy.

Yup. Just got my Thunderbolt elited yesterday. I ALRM15 w/ TAG, PPC, 4 Md Lasers and a 280 STD engine. I've got like a 1.1 KDR on it but like a 0.6 something w/l ratio. The Tbolt is a good mech but it isn't good at any one thing and that is the problem with MWO. You either boil your mech down to doing only one thing and doing it well, with JJs mind you, or you simply give the other team a reasonable target to turn into slag.

Yeah the Thunderbolt was another one I was looking at and came to the same conclusion.

Now imagine if jumpjets had more advanced programming and capability... instead of hovering about like Shaq Warrior Online or whatever the heck that was. Jumpjets are only programmed to be good for Shaq Warrior techniques, unfortunately, so that's all they can be used for in MWO, can't really blame those players for that.

Don't get me wrong, I like the Tbolt. But, it is everything that is wrong with MWO now. Or rather, it is everything that should be right about MWO. But, frankenmechs don't work and LRMs are sad sad sad.

Btw, for all the people complaining about how fast and nimble heavies are, try running around in a Tbolt and tell me how much better than mediums they are. It handles worse than an Atlas and is much wider than one.
