This one is a big and ugly pile of garbage. Good luck piloting this... ;)

Horribly disappointed; ugly, uninspired, and really... Aztec design on a Celtic-themed/named 'mech? Good lord. What a mistake this thing is. It had the potential to look so good. As an Irish citizen, painting something Celtic in origin/name with a Meso-American paint-job is almost (almost) offensive, and at the least, makes no sense at all.

This is the first time that PGI has dropped the ball. I won't purchase any of them, and I usually have no issue spending MC on Hero 'mechs.

So you must be REALLY offended with the Yen-Lo-Wang.

I like the fact PGI is making heroes less North-American-centered. You know, there is a world of different cultures out there.

PS: they could buff the hardpoints of this hero, tough. Easiest way to do it right now? Add 1 more missile hardpoint.

Why has the Banshee 6 fingers on each hand?

Looks more like a Kintaro to me. Kinda sad when it's supposed to have an iconic Atlas like face.

I can't figure out where the art department lost it on this one... The original has a head shaped like a wailing skull, always has. It's a part of the iconic design we've all come to expect when someone the Banshee is brought up. If you're gonna make sh*t up entirely, why not make up a new name to go along with it to avoid this level of disappointment. I'll probably end up picking up the Cbill versions, and naming them something like 'artdeptsdayoff', or 'noteventrying'....

not to mention the texture for the hands... The Banshee should be patched today? That means some one has to work really quickly.

.... i believe that has something to do - with the WYSIWYG Mech Modification stuff.... i always feel castrated when i look at the the Large Laser of my T-Bolt - not to mention the PPC for the BattleMaster (at the artwork those guns looked much better)

Orion still has the "weapon arm" but you can switch between all energy weapons without the "gun slung under arm" effect. They even modelled individual SRM's around it instead of slapping on a box, it pretty much shows what the art team is capable of when they have the time.

Buying this the moment patch drops. Don't care that it's suboptimal, I'm bad at assaults anyway :) 3 LLs and an AC20 will amount to something one way or another ;)

Celtic mech with an Aztec paintjob named after a woman that helped annihilate the Aztecs? Nice! Now I just have to give her a Japanese name to make the mess complete! Will probably name her Haruna <3

Oh, and the 6 fingers look creeeeepy. Bonus points for that! :) Thanks, PGI.

It's about canon character from BT Universe, it's not PGI's invention. I'll just repeat my post from Strum Wealh's thread here:

La Malinche Hero is probably piloted by El Guapo, the leader of Old Crows merc company, mentioned as notable Banshee pilot in TRO 3039. Spanish-American connection is obvious and there's even a direct link between two via Uncyclopaedia (fake) entry about non-existent TV show "The Spain-Team":

Quote

In the episode "La Malinche", El Guapo pretends to be a bearded white god in order to seduce the daughter of a tribal Indian shaman, thus allowing the Spain-Team to sneak into the shaman's village at night and butcher all of the inhabitants.

Other sources are silent about Old Crows, but according to TRO 3039 it's based on Errai (FedSuns) and El Guapo's Banshee was stolen (sic) from 19th Galedon Regulars. So it looks like Old Crows served FedSuns for some time and probably were in Combine service before this.

New Assault mech?

Enjoy your death trap ladies!

+1 for the design looks a bit bland. Perhaps this is meant to symbolize the age of the design? ie: a Model T isn't going to win any beauty pageants.

Okay, I know it's supposed to be an older design, but a 95 ton 'mech with only a PPC, AC/5 and a Small Laser? I'm probably missing it, but can someone point out what's supposed to be the BNC-3E's main selling point? Because it's no faster than any other 'mech its size, seems undergunned and I can't see mention of electronic warfare equipment. Does it just carry an absurd amount of armour?

The original Banshee really is an ancient piece of work- overengined and undergunned even in the 3025 era. It's not until the -3S variant is made that it gets scary- and the -3S is one of the best assaults of it's time. The -3E is definitely gonna be -roomy- though. Like the Mackie, it was built in an era where 'Mechs were on the primitive end of things, which means lots of room for modern components inside an oversized chassis. That being said, it's gonna be a target on par with the Atlas.

Yes because in fantasy space land, where Robots are assigned by governments, it makes no sense that someone not of the cliche "nominal" origin of a mech name might drive one? Apparently every one of the 5000 or so Banshees off the assembly line MUST be assigned to someone of Irish or Scots descent?

You do realize this is a game? And a game universe where the Northwinds Highlanders have Asian and African descended SCOTSMEN?

No take the time to look up "La Malinche"- and La Llorona. Guess what? The "Banshee" story is very similar in both cultures, because the basic mythologies all started in north africa and spread with the diaspora of people. This is one heck of a lot more interesting and sideways angle to take than calling it "Brian Boru" the mech of Paddy O'Hanrahan, of the 5th Mick Regulars.

Jeez. Some people are just born looking to get their knickers in a twist? Ye make me rue sharing celtic blood with ye, lad.

wanting a Griffin one myself. With weapons in both arms so that both sides get the bulky "arm shield " arms. But I figure I got a bit o a wait fer that.
