Hero Banshee "la Malinche"

However, looking at the head, it actually DOES have a pretty cool menacing grin, it simply isn't underlined too well. That laser is meant to go on the forehead from the looks of Sarna. Not sure why they went with this Hauptmann-style thing.
I think if they change the cockpit glass a bit and move that laser so the "teeth" are more visible and pop out, it'll look good.

Deal with it.
As for La Malinche, now take the time to click the link to http://en.wikipedia....wiki/La_Llorona and get the complete picture. It's a brilliant, sideways take to get to the Banshee result, instead of the narrow plodding politically correct expedient. Bravo to PGI for having someone who actually did something beside taking the low hanging fruit. Apologies if that offends you. Or not, actually.
Actually offended is probably the wrong word, more like "lol, wut?", in that "how could some one screw up the lore that bad?", particularly when there was a pre-existing miniature of that exact mech (still wish mine had an axe and shield!)
Also, I have a Mech painted like the "Union Jack", almost accidentally, weird that you would say that.
Also, and I do understand this is the internet, when you make comments like "you are way to PC" about some one you don't know, it just makes you look foolish. Really anytime you go after a person's character based on the three lines of text you see them type its a bad idea, just sayin.

I just hope they tweak the build & hardpoints to make it as suitably lethal as a 95 tonner should be. As it sits... it will be outgunned by several heavies and out-tanked by all other Assaults (awesome excepted).

...and it is probable that pilot of "La Malinche" was a traitor to his former employer (DCMS) from whom he stole this mech (so the mech kinda "defected" too). It's a nice match! Come on, war machines don't have to be always named after lawful-good

I wondered the same thing and spent some time looking at the picture. It looks like there's a somewhat significant fisheye effect going on, like they set the view angle too high. You can really notice this if you look at how much of the inside of the pauldrons you can see.
I think the camera is slightly off center and the laser just sticks out from the head.

People dont realize that a lot of the mechs all look similar because they are all humanoid shapes, especially innersphere mechs. After getting a few mechs in each weight class the hardpoints and play become really redundant unless there is a significant difference in hardpoint placement or availability within a weight class and ergonomics affecting size of different components on a mech making different parts harder to hit than on other mechs. This is what makes certain mechs more prominent on the battlefield.
Why so many victors and highlanders? Jumpjets and arm mounted weapons that facilitate ease of sniping
Why so many shadowhawks? Great hitbox allowing you to run XL with ease, awesome engine to speed ratio and a plethora of hardpoint configurations with enough weight and jumpjets to be versatile.
Bla bla bla.
Get us some new weapons and non humanoid mechs like the supernova etc aka Clan mechs and lets get rolling with some changes.

You're looking at the wrong weapon. The laser on the top right of the Banshee's head is the one he is referring to.

On top of the head? I was referring to the one in the mouth? Though looking at the mechlab pictures and not just the first ingame pic, it is obviously not centered so I was wrong about that.

Like many other people have stated already, what is with the hodge-podge appearance for the Banshee mech in general? Seriously it does look like they enlarged components from previously released mechs and slapped it all together. Where is the foreboding/deathlike feel in the head especially? I mean the Atlas is iconic for just the head alone and the fear it instills when you see it. When I look at this mech it just makes me want to take my dual gauss Ilya and shoot the Banshee in the face.
I really really really hope PGI has seen everyone's posts on this thread and does something about the appearance of this mech, even if that means a later release or "hotfix". Spend a little more time on and it and I think PGI will make a lot more money. Just my opinion anyways.
End rant.
A lot of the work done seems to look a lot like reuse of pieces of existing mechs, and I guess at the very least that the mech itself doesn't "look" like a frankenmech... but it is kinda easy to see where reuse comes from..
Also, comparisons to the Atlas-K is probably not correct in the first place.
A more fair comparison would be closer to some hybrid of the HGN-732 and Victor-9K w/o most of its missile hardpoints. The Energy hardpoint in the head kinda neuters the build, and any attempt to use an AC20 will restrict the energy hardpoint to a Large Laser (or Large Pulse). You could stuff 3 PPCs in it, plus any ballistic other than an AC20... in fairness, it's closer to a crippled Atlas-RS minus 1 energy+missile hardpoint. Hitboxes will dictate XL viability, but I kinda expect lots of high end standard engines (335 or better) to 360 or even 375 since there's probably going to be a lot of spare tonnage involved due to limited hardpoints.

No. That... just doesn't work. As an Irish citizen, it is almost (almost) culturally offensive - and it certainly makes no sense whatsoever. I could even argue that the design is doubly-offensive, given that its name and evocative paint-job come from someone widely considered by many Meso-Americans to be a traitor and a spy. Change the paint job, change the name, erase this shameful release.
The Yen Lo Wang feels your pain.
