Did he actually say there wasn't a new chassis. it just seems like he confirmed a hero mech. IDK why those would be mutually exclusive. There hasn't been a month without a new mech(exclusing phoenix) since flea.

It has been said previously, I think in the podcast, though the phrasing can always be mistaken one way or the other. Basically, though, this month and May are supposed to be "busy finishing up the Clan mechs", so they only had the bandwidth to implement a couple hero mechs off existing chassis.

It's likely going to be either a BJ Hero, or perhaps a Raven hero (The Nevermore? Follow up one april fools joke with actually releasing it next year).

Other non-phoenix mechs that need heroes:
Quickdraw
Treb
Spider

That would be really cool, but just like the possibility of the Spider: would it be worth using over the ECM version?

Nah, if it's a trick, I'd guess they'd talk about offering vehicles as a pilotable option.

And then a week later announce that you'll be able to drive them in 3PV only as a minigame once you die.

That would actually be a pretty cool respawn option: Spectate or take over a vehicle and see how nasty mechs really are.

Wolfhound would be a good light mech to add.

Javelins seem to not really be different enough from each other, and would directly compete with the Oxide.Maybe the Hollander would be interesting?

Problem with light mechs is that they have so little tonnage to work with, so many of them carry the same armaments. The Valkyrie would be cool, but they all seem to have the same HPs.

We need a Hatchetman, if you want canonically important mechs. Kai Allard Liao piloted a Hatchetman on Twycross, a pretty pivotal battle in the Clan invasion.

Of course, we'd need melee...

I'd enjoy it too, but I get the feeling people won't like the way they get roflstomped (literally).

Hardpoints don't matter all that much. The "feel" of the mech is all about the quirks, such as torso twist, arm movement, etc.

I would beg to differ. Arm mounted weapons vs torso mounted weapons is much larger impact than turning radius.

Very true. I meant the type and number of hardpoints, but their location IS very important, definitely.

I'd be surprised to see a Jenner hero... there are 3 unique Jenners already (Oxide hero, Founders and Sarah's)

Either the Raven or a Spider I think. Preferably the Spider for me, bring on more 30 tonners.

Jenner, Commando and Firestarter already have heroes. Locust doesn't but I'd be surprised to see a Phoenix hero so soon.

Would like to see a new light chassis soon too, even though we just recently got the Firestarter it would be nice to even the chassis out a little more as we approach the release of the launch module.

No you're right. I was tired when I wrote this and thought about it on my way home from work. I meant a Spider or Raven hero.

Already existing chassis hero? How bout the Legendary 6mg spider? With a special friend. You know they are a team.

It will never be the Archer, alas, it is an Unseen... and one of the contentious 12 macross designs.

Project Phoenix are not copyright infringements and are now canon but thanks.

Only because they are not IP guarded like Harmony Golds hold onto Macross / Robotech.
