Does anyone actually use standard SRM2 launchers on semi-serious builds?

I'm not talking about top level meta play here just some casual pugging.

Anwyay, the reason for this question is because my Shads have been under performing recently so I'm trying to shake things up with the builds and this is what I came up with: SHD-2H

The SRM2 launchers have the same cool down as the AC10 which could allow for a pretty consistent barrage of fire. Does it play out that way for people who've used something similar?

Thanks in advance for the input.

Uhhh.. I think I DID actually have one build with SRM2's

I'm pretty sure it was the Pheonix package Shadowhawk, I think the build was AC10+PPC with 3xSRM2

The only reason I used the 2's instead of a 6 was simply because they cost the same tonnage, and the 2's were more tightly packed and fired faster.

Honestly, tho. Unless a mech has 10+ missile hardpoints, SRM2's are pretty, pretty bad.

I mean if you're really hellbent, try a medium with 4 missile hard points and try Artemis SRM2's, they have literally zero spread, it it can act like a slower moving lighter AC10..

Yup...only one I've done it on. Can't use all the hardpoints if you upgrade to streaks.

I use SRM-2s a lot. Tight missile grouping, fast firing rate. Fun stuff. You need multiple hardpoints to get any real benefit from them, and even then they need to be a supplement to a larger weapon. CN-9A, ON1-VA, and SHD-2D2 are a few variants that make good SRM-2 boats. Once you get to three of them it basically becomes an SRM-6 + Artemis that weighs one ton less and has an AC-10's firerate. Don't bother with Artemis for SRM-2s themselves though, the difference in grouping is almost nonexistent and you pay way too much in weight.

Does the heat become problematic? The SRM6 only generates 4 heat every 4 seconds whereas the 3xSRM2 will generate 6 heat every 2.5 seconds.

Yes. My Locust has 4x SRM2's I use for hit and run. Unguided, fire and RUN LIKE HELL! It's actually a fun and potent build if you do it right.

Here's my current -2H build. I don't use the SRM/2's to compose the bulk of my firepower but I use them to round off my current SRM array. They do help give me a good close-in punch to get those crucial last few damage points.

Just feel I have to point this out but do you know that by switching from FF to Endo you could free up 1.5 tons and use that to up your leg armor and add a JJ?

Of course this does represent a good amount of c-bills and you may not be willing to spend those if you're strapped for cash.

I have considered that, but I don't know what my current crit-slot situation is, lol. But I'll give it a look!

I have a Highlander that uses them to great success
HGN733
4SRM2
1LBX10
2PPC
max armor
300ish engine
3tons ammo for both the LBX and SRMs
DHS to fill in rest of tonnage.

Yes actually it can run a bit hot but then you just fire the AC10 or LBX10 to cool down and your good.

Didn't have much time last night so its only been in to the testing grounds but I tried out a modified version of the build I posted in the OP which tries to maximize DPS and a steady stream of damage.

The 3xSRM2 definitely pumps out damage pretty consistently and with the UAC5 firing an opponent won't have much time to relax. It will have to go through some more extensive testing before I can call this a success but its off to a good start.
