Since DX11 MWO seems capped at 60Hz
Is there a setting to force it to a higher value as my trusty Iiyama CRT can do 85 Hertz.

Eyesore reduction is sorely needed.

The mechlab is capped at 60fps by the developers.

^^ irrelevant
FPS does not equal screen refresh rate
The first is the amount of screen updates the gfx card send to the screen,
The latter is the amount of time to screen itself is capable of updating itself.

60Hz and I notice the flicker 85 Hz i dont.

Refresh rates of televisions and other types of video displayed are measured in "hz" (Hertz). For example: A Television with a 60hz refresh rate represents complete reconstruction of the screen image 60 times every second. As a result, this also means that each video frame (in a 30 frame per second signal) is repeated twice every 60th of a second. By looking at the math, one can easily figure out how other frame rates relate to other refresh rates.

Are you being deliberately obtuse or what ?
The only thing i want to know is how to force mwo to use a higher refresh rate. Not FPS, refresh rate which is tied to the screen resolution.
It maybe that the devs where lazy in implementing their FPS cap mechanism by locking refresh rates at 60hz.

I do not understand what you mean. MWO does not change refresh rate, that is a monitor setting and not a game setting. I do change the refresh rate by having two profiles for my screen in the Catalyst Control Center, which I hotkey to Shift+Alt+1 or 2. MWO, or any other game for that matter, has no power to change the refresh rate. Games can cap the FPS, but that is a different thing entirely.

Sorry, I'm not trying to be obtuse. MWO has capped the FPS in the mech lab but not in the game its self. FPS, frame time are tied together which ties in to the refresh rate. you have a refresh rate of 85hz this means that your screen can display 85FPS but your video cards are not producing 85FPS so your seeing a slight flicker. You can either setup a profile in your hardware software to allow for this or you can try at your own risk to force the frame time. the reason the developers limited the FPS/frame time is because of the excessive heat people were seeing when sitting in the mech lab. if you want to risk burning out your video card then add this line to your MWO user.cfg and play around with the value

sys_budget_frametime = 22

A frame time of 22ms is supposed to be the equivalent of 45fps which is approximately 45hz so try setting it to = 12

The entire front end is capped at ~61 fps; I still get the same ol' same ol' 69 in-game, having the
sys_MaxFPS = 70
I'd set long ago to match my great big honkin' CRT.

We have one known example of
sys_budget_framerate
working where MaxFPS didn't, and can only guess it was an nVidia vs. ATI issue …

There seems to be no changing the front end cap. :-(

I don't remember ever seeing an app or game change a monitors' refresh without first changing the resalution: You want to check what the game thinks the screen size is, then go into the driver to make shore everyone is on the same page.

LAB is capped.

Just making sure Vsync is off. And that your CRT can do 85hz at the highest resolution. My CRT does 85hz at 1280x1024, but 75 is the max for 1600x1200.

that said, it goes to 95 fps at 1600x1200 because vsync is off. It tears occasionally.

I do not think there is a way around the 60hz cap in DX10/11 with Cryengine. IIRC I had this same issue with MWLL when I would run DX10. My monitors run at 75hz but DX10/11 switch them to 60hz, which is a shame.

Other DX10/11 games run fine at 75hz though.

The refresh rate behaviour is VERY strange, i've had 60 65 75 80 and 85 in different matches with no rime nor reason to what the number will be.

Greetings all,

If you are referring to the "F9" key elements that are displayed in the top left corner during gameplay, that is the FPS reading. And it will depend on many things within the current image being displayed, having a long draw distance, number of objects being drawn, effects being rendered, are some and all contribute to lowering that displayed number.

- And as has been stated the FPS and the monitor's refresh rate are two separate items, the Refresh Rate is hard coded to the different resolutions that it is attempting to display.

Alright, After re-applying resolution+refresh rates, but without 60hz in the Detailed Resolutions and Standard Resolutions table in Custom Resolution Utility ( by ToastyX ), the game is running at 75hz again in DX11. I run this utility every time I install drivers since eyefinity doesn't show 75hz by default. Apparently when i delete the 60hz resolutions the game does not revert back to 60hz.

I remember this working with intermittent success in Crysis+MWLL when running Nvidia cards a couple years ago.

There are also other utilities that do this. You just need something that can edit the res+refresh extension block the drivers use.

I'm still having some trouble with win 8.1, Cru and dx11 in this game, 1280x960 on 100Hz works fine, but 1280x720 is at 100Hz too instead of the 140Hz it coud be at.

1600x1200 85Hz works in dx9, but doesn't in dx11.

I'd test with other games but I only have assetto corsa installed atm and that game lists all resolutions and refresh rates it can find.
