Hi guys,

I took the criticism and decided that maybe the Banshee and the LA MINCHE I got wasn't the best Mech for me afterall, so I purchased a STK Misery and I've been doing really well in it. This build is really good at taking out Lights (still my favourite thing) that come near it, but is also a great close range Mech as well and it's great fun to sneak up on Atlas DDCs. I really like how hard it is to shoot the centre and the extra heavy armour in the legs means lights with machineguns won't hurt it. It's a little slow in getting places but when it does stuff dies!

Is this a satire topic? Not sure why that would be considered a light killer, LB-X nerf balls and armor tickling machine guns, no thanks.

I would try these instead:

BNC-5P (400XL)

And if you want a light to go poof and you know how to aim:

BNC-3MC(exp) (400XL)

BNC-3CQ (380 Standard)

(if you're just dying to have MG's)

BNC-3MG (380 Standard)

(If you're hankering for a stock mech challenge)

BNC-3MC (380 Standard)

BNC-3Q (380 Standard)

That looks really good, should I get the Pretty Baby then? The hero Mechs seem quite good imo, especially the Misery!

I dunno, man...

75 Kph isn't exactly speedy, just fast for an assault.

The leg armor is way too low.

The Flamer in the head is probably a waste.

You've got more LB ammo than you really need.

There's not really much reason to run a BAP on a 'Mech like this.

And there's absolutely no reason to have a CASE in the Right Torso since you're using an XL engine.

plus to many heatsinks its a bad build

add Endo to that and you have 4.5 tons for 2 Machine Guns or AMS, 1ton MG ammo, 2 DHS and more leg armor.

BAP is important on any build that you want to get target info quicker, which is almost all of mine knowledge is power.
And figuring out what sections are open for your MGs is imperatve.

I caved and bought the hero Banshee (I'm friggin weak). A few things became quickly apparent. First, this thing has Shadowhawk-like hit boxes, so it can tank damage like a mofo, even with an XL. A few times I got surrounded and focused, and I just couldn't believe how much fire I took before I bit the dust. I even survived ling enough to take one of those SOBs with me. Second, two LPLs in the arms is a very effective light killing setup. I found myself legging lights right and left. It's almost fun when those MG Firestarter ******** charge you, LOL!

The only time I ran into one directly the other night, the head armor was stripped. I was just curious if the head seems a bit easy to hit or if it was just coincedence?

I've only got about 6 drops in mine, but I haven't noticed any particular vulnerabilities like that. I have seen a lot of dual gauss setups (K2s, Jags, and Ilyas)the past few months, so it sounds like your guy may have tangled with one before you got him.

Ok, yea probably. I was just curious since the first one I saw was head crit with little else damage. Probably due to a high alpha lucky/skilled shot like you said.

Oh god yes. I love fighting XL engine stalkers. They're almost easier to kill than XL engine hunchbacks.

The advantage of reading the forums. I didn't realize how badly I was gimping myself until I got into a Stalker/XL idiot thread.

Since the Banshee is new new new, I wonder if some of the hitboxes are inverted, located 2 meters to the left of the torso, the size of a spider CT... whatever.

If you want a Light Hunter/Killer you need a faster mech.

I use the Hero Shadow Mech with the following loadout

X1 Large Pulse Laser for Sting
X3 Machine Guns for 0 heat
X3 SRM2 Close range Boom!

Best part is you dont have to use any heatsinks!

So what do you guys think of the Awesome Pretty Baby? Seems like 80kph with an XL is a good way to go and wasn't it buffed quite a bit a few patches ago?

@WVAnonymous
I guess it's possible that PGI made some mistake with the hit boxes and a future patch will render the Banshee the piece of trash some people seem to want it to be, but as for right now, it's probably the most durable non-JJ Assault mech in the game. Right now, the only match it has in a straight up 1v1 brawl is a DDC. Not even a Misery can stand up because the Banshee can out maneuver it.

@Ricky
Avoid the Pretty Baby. It was workable back when SRMs were mean, but now it's got absolutely nothing to offer. (I'm not actually sure if you're serious. I thought you already had a PB?)

eh, remember for the month after Shadowhawks came out, people complained about bugged hitboxes?

Turned out they were just well designed, and pilots of Mediums generally learned to twist and shout to survive, instead of just staring you in the face like I still see tons of Assault and Heavy pilots do (and why I generally find DPS builds inferior).

Banshee is just one tough mother. And it needs it since they decided it's hardpoints should be .....mediocre. (Well, the Hero. The Cbill versions may be interesting)
