The latest patches with these turrets are getting out of hand. They are being abused and not used for their original purpose. People are falling back into their base making the turrets do all the work while they sit back b/c we all know the LRM turrets are a load of crap. They aren't even being used for Anti-base capping, they are being used as extra damage that never misses.

If you feel the same way post a response/reply voicing your opinions on turrets.
Only way to get anything done is voicing your opinion and not sitting on the sideline.

When you have a strong base, defending in it is often the optimal strategy. This is working as designed.

The ECM-breaking, always-hitting mechanics may need a nerf, and turret placement needs work.

Actually I doubt turrets do much 'Damage' compare to mechs unless said mech is the a useless noob.

Having said that... Turrets serve as very useful distractions, especially the LRM turret since you can't tell the difference between a LRM10 and LRM80 before it is too late.. haha..

Edited:
Anyway.. PGI seems to hate light mechs... Capping by light early should have received a significant nerf... Working as intended.. May the assault pilots rejoice.. ;)

I actually expected it to be "abused" more. We will se a lot more falling back to base or base camping once matches have a meaning and it is important to win.

thats what i and many others say, base camping to get extra support and win by kills on timeout and if your team is behind on kills, it doesn´t matter how skilled you are, you have mostly no chance to turm the mach to victory and you know it whole remaining time.

my experience with assault was very funny, more tactical options than kill-them-all-skirmish, or run-and-cap-them-all-conquest, but now with the turrets and those fall back and wait tactic assault became a worst mode

a half of the players love the turrets, another half hate them, the best solution is to dreate assault modes with and without turrets and exeryone can play what he prefer

ill admit being able to fall back to the base is nice in my lrm boat ive been able to go and hide in the base while the enemy team was badly damaged they had to fight the turrets to find me while me and another lrm boat laid waste to them, We differently wouldnt have won without them being out numbered but everyone was fairly damaged me including about to die from a red ct. Final thoughts a little bit cheap but is fun and it a bit tactical glad it takes away those lame light mech games where they rush your base though.

1st turret match I was in I hated it. The turrets pounded me. But after a few more matches I decided I like them. I don't base sit but I will fall back under the base umbrella if the match moves where I can hit with lrms from cover of the turrets. This is no more abuse than lances of lights using ecm cover to pick off stragglers. At 49km/h I get left by my lancemates often to get picked off 4 on 1. The turret range looks to be about the same as a mech's so I can engage targets around 1800 meters from base with turret coverage.
With 3 lrm15s and 1-2 erppcs(depending on whether i am carrying 1260 or 1620 lrms) I can still kill you in your base pretty effectively working around and over cover with the only real fear being a guass sniper or lrms.
I can also kill turrets to soften up the base for my team.
I like them I think it is what was needed to really set skirmish and assault modes apart. I know once they get all the bugs out of the patch I will be playing a lot more assault matches.

I've been saying "Defend your base" to the assault cap-warrior whinos for 3 years.

And look - people finally are!!!

Personally I see this as a valid tactic. Makes no sense to not make use of your defensive tactical assets in a combat situation but I digress.

What changes would you like to see done to the turrets to improve the situation ?

If you find turrets are interfering with your hunting, why are you in assault mode in the first place? Wouldn't skirmish suit you better?

Wait?!? You mean someone actually employed a tactic you don't agree with? The base has turrets dude... you get down to a couple Mechs surviving on your team and you want to try and win still on the assault mode you're in... options? Fallback to base and hope turrets provide the added edge you need to win... seems legit to me. No abuse there... I had several matches where this occurred against the enemy team falling back to regroup and try to pull off a victory... didn't work, but their efforts were valiant. We suffered some damage, but we still won... so, your issue with turrets are what? btw... use a smaller font next time.

I don't care one way or another. I just take them as another obstacle to get around. As long as both side's have them so be it.

Just had another geat match, we where up 9-8 and 2 of 3 remaining enemies where a poke from dead, and they had an atlas at about 80%. not a big deal without turrets.

With turrets - we end up having to turtle upper city and wait for them to come to us since they lose on kills.

what could have beena nice intense endgame fight/them rushing our base etc, turned instead into a 6 minute watch the clock tick down or wait for them to leave their base and turrets since we where all to damaged to kill the 3 of them and fight their 8 turrets.

very very lame.

Nto that you can blame them for using every resource they had at their disposal....
Once I was in a Firestarter and lost all weapons and was the last one alive against like 5 mechs...
Of course my ever helpful dead team mate was yelling at me to go get killed.. But I was the only one alive and had different plans..

Hiding in the base I made my presense known at got 2 mechs killed by turrets.. and got a 3rd one legged..
I continued to sneak around humping the leg of the CTF when I could.. I need to be careful since he still had ERPPC...
Too bad it time out at my lost.. The other 2 enemy had bugged out and camped their own base instead of trying to take down a weaponless FS. :)

i had also a match, 3 mechs left at our side, damaged cicada at enemy base, our guys had only to WAIT to win (good tactic), but they clumsy tried to get the cicada (bad tactic) and were all killed by turrets and we´ve lost

waiting, sniping and propably do nothing, watching the timer and let the turrets do the work became a liked tactic that works.

btw

have you noticed, that more light mechs are equipt with long range weapons like lrm-commando or -raven, ppc- or erll-jenner since turrets are there?

They have always existed though I must that LRM lights are troll builds.
ERLL Jenner is a poor mans ERLL ECM Raven... Light with laser medium to long range weapon has been proven to be able to do lots of damage over time if that can survive...

User ERLL setup in my other Raven 2x and 4x as well and they can do very well.

Said builds would die against say... Against Ember with MLs and MGs...

I can't agree more with the original post. Assault matches have become turtlefests.

So many things I could reference here and break, but not worth it, some of you probably haven't even realized that the turrets only target weak spots. Using the turrets as a strategy when they are actually meant for anti-capping is exploiting. Look it up. Some games have actually banned players for exploiting mechanics and not reporting them (just saying). So if you turtle or fall back to base to use the turtle, you are an exploiter abusing a mechanic the wrong way such as jumpjetting was never meant to be used for sniping. Whats a matter? Did your balls drop off or something to the fact that you can't play legit?

Games called "Mechwarrior Online" not "Basewarrior Online".
