Wow... I could never be able to pull off a HM build with a standard while at the same time only sacrificing one JJ.

But my advice to you, since you've got a brawler build, is to cut the back armor to 14 in center, & 10 on both the sides, if you're not willing to completely frontload all the torso armor like I am.

Wish I could help you more but your build seems pretty solid. I personally run a much bigger XL in mine 325 to be exact and 3 MPLs instead of 2 LLs (did not have the crit slots or tonnage available but too much for 3 MLs). Mine travels at 64.4 kph and turns pretty quick so I decided to run the armor like I would a heavy mech (66/10)(104/12)(66/10) which gives me plenty of armor to kill an Atlas or 2. If you decided to downsize the LLs you could add a few double heat sinks and Artemis to your SRM6s which will get both of them to almost hit a single point which really hurts if it registers. This is how I would run it http://mwo.smurfy-ne...c55a4e0be63e36b which is pretty close to mine. Good luck with your Heavy Metal.

Once you have it master and you can turn quicker I would recomend lowering the rear armor. Maybe 10-16-10, although alot of people actually take it down to nearly nothing which can be really good, if your excellent with situational awareness.

If you're losing your STs, you need to twist and jump more.

HEAVY METAL
Drop the eng to a 275 (so the stock eng) and 2 of the JJ, you can get 4T of Gauss and a pair of SRMs to back everything on up.

HEAVY METAL
LPL's are pretty fun for brawling now.

You can also run that with two AC5's instead of the SRM's and UAC5.

I would personally TK you or anyone using the abomination of 2 AC5 on a Heavy Metal. UAC/AC5 is at least acceptable if you must use the AC5's, but the mech pretty much is a twin AC2 or Gauss arm for that ballistic side. Use 2 AC2 if you want DPS dakka and Gauss as the best if you want alpha, twin AC5 loses out in BOTH regards and is overpaying in tonnage as well. UAC/AC5 is more tonnage then DPS AC2 but it dose actually have more DPS then anything else that arm can do, since UAC is a 6 DPS gun and AC5 is a 3 (rounded) Twin AC2 is 8 DPS (rounded).

The energy sides best setup is 3 LPL as the most damage you can get out of that arm, 3 LL (or ER if your so inclined) is acceptable as well since its only a small drop in total damage that arm can do. PPC's should never EVER be used on that mech due to not having enough crits for the 3rd PPC, and as such you lose out on 9-10 damage you could of been doing.

I have over 400+ matches in this mech alone, and a 2.25 KDR in that mech using a Guass and 3 LPL and 2 SRM4 for most of the time. When Ghost Heat came I swapped to 3 LL in the arm instead and added a few more HS and JJ's. Now I am back to the old 3 LPL again with the nice range increase they got to there opti.

If you get results out of the design, well, that's the important part. I think it's kind of a waste, as it does nothing a 732, 733, or 733C couldn't do. Something like THIS would be more different from the other HGNs, though you might consider dumping the 5th jet for more AC ammo and/or heat sink(s).

You could put that on a K2, your Jager of choice, 5S Thunderbolt, CTF-1X/3D/Ilya, ON1-V/Protector, Victor 9B/9S, BLR-1G/1D, HGN-732/733/733C/HM, BNC-3E, or AS7-D/D-DC.

22 different mechs that you have the pleasure of making exactly the same... Dear gawds, that sounds boring, doesn't it?

More to the point, the OP requested builds other than that.

You haven't played Highlanders since the JJ patch? Even 2 JJ is a comedy show on the highlander, 3+ or none is the only way to go now.

The 5th ton of Gauss is 90% of the time not needed, 40 shots is enough to take out the enemy team if your a good shot. :P

This is what I currently use, basically swapped the STD330 for XL330 + 4 JJ.

It was the only STD engine Highlander I had left. Now they have all gone the way of the XL. 10 tons of JJ.

I like most of your insight, but the TK is a little harsh for personal opinion on mech building. :P

Either way the OP isn't looking for Meta Builds.

That's a pretty extreme reason to to TK someone, especially considering UAC5 AC5 2 PPC is superior to every build in this post :P. Twin AC5's are always a solid choice, my KDR says so  .
