Perfect, this team based game needs more incentives to steal kills.

I like how you say it's teambased and then assign a non-teambased activity as killstealing to it. That's ... innovative?

so, I'm @ 9.994 kills.

I hope there's not an achievement for reaching 10.000 kills that gives you some kind of good bonus, like a new mechbay or something else, because if there is, I've already earned it!!!!

Total stats wipe under this point of view is simply EVIL.

then go and kill 6 more until 18th <_<
(congrats btw, you killed whole armies, hrhr)

topic:
I like the idea of Achievements. After maxing 50+ mechs (XP and equipwise) i need something to achieve. And i need a reason to bring older, rusty mechs out to the field. (Like in other MMOs, for me, reaching the max level with good equip is the end...game)

The achievement system is a nice touch.

Yes wiping the current stats will be a kick in the teeth for some people (not me though, my stats are decidedly average <_< ) but gaining the ability to track assists is a good addition. This, to me, is a team player based statistic.

Because complaining about somebody stealing YOUR kills is totally a team based attitude, right?

Evil laughter... <_<

This is an outrage! My precious KDR will forever be increased because of this...

Yay all those first 2000 odd games when I was a noob will be wiped out and my stats will now reflect how good I am Currently!!!!

Suggestion: Put in a date range selector for displaying people's stats. Eg so that you can look at all of them, just this month's or just this week's.

it's not a one-sided thing. Generally, yes, it does not matter, who made that last killing shot. Good players will have their killcount high anyway. BUT there're these rare and fun situations, when two mechs are clearly duelling one-on-one, and it is clear that your friendly mech is doing alright. I always hold my shot if I see that enemy mech is disarmed and gonna die any second now from a friendly mech who should get all the credit for it. I can shoot it in a safest component and get a savior kill. It will give me more XP and C-bills, and kill goes fully deserved to a friendly mech. But unfortunately this is not a common practice. People aren't quick enough to understand, what's going on. Or they're just selfish. They see cornered harmless enemy and steal this kill just because they cann't get a solid kill by themselves.

They had so many options to chose from. So many things they could throw their resources at and this is their choice?
How about optimising the game itself a bit instead? Making the game take up less bandwith for the same effect would have been nice.

Hallelujah! We can finally wipe out those fake KDRs that were achieved by taking advantage of the bugs and imbalance of days past, like LRMpocalypse, Super Streaks, Lagshielded Lights, broken Raven and Spider hitboxes (not sure if the latter was fixed), JJ Streakapults, Acrobatic Assault Jumpsnipers, 6 PPC Alpha Stalkers, sync-dropping 4-man premades, etc.

To quote Arnold: "It's all bullshit! The cabinet minister, the whole business!" <_<

I may suggest to look at it not from I-ME-MY point of view. Think of "why are devs even doing this?"
It's just a guess, but what if they're trying to cover up obvious repetitiveness of the game by this easy-to-implement system, which will keep players in game? Everyone does this. And PGI has a good chance to show some good ideas about interesting achievements. Thing is, that this system is determined to please average players, and to please them you've got to make it accessable to a vast majority of players. In other words achievments should be easy. Sure, there will be a couple of challenging ones, but I don't think, devs would go further than 100 kills per chassis or 200 kills per weight class. Anyway, these achivements are to keep people playing this game, not to reward them for what they did in a past.

You are mistaken good Sir, I really don't care about kills. Winning the match is everything. I try to ignore a cored enemy if I see him panicking a switch to a more important target. The funniest thing I can do in this game is to stand behind enemy lines with my TAG-Spider and watch them getting rained to death.
What I mean with my post is that I don't want a system that encourages behaviour that is hurting the team. For example: I almost always take out the right shoulder of HGN-733C, CTF-3D, VTR-DS and effectively disarm them (or kill if they run XL). A mech in that state should be ignored if there is any other threat nearby, but instead there is always a couple of players that get tunnel vision and mad rush to get that kill - often getting killed themselves by doing so.
I played the tournament a couple of weeks ago, and frankly, it was horrible. Both teams equally stupid running around as bloodhounds trying to "secure kills". I was pretty good at that, but would really hate seeing that crap every day.

have they made any mention whether or not there will be a reward tied to these achievements? I'm not against them, but most in most games they're just a check in a box that I pretty much ignore. The only real motivation to mess with them is if they give a reward or they're particularly interesting (like beating an entire UFO with one guy in XCOM).

Interesting. First question: is Achievements System related anyhow to future Community Warfare (linked to Loyalty Points component maybe)? If not - it's almost useless, well, some kids may glee of it, but they usually glee and send you cakes regardless of what you, PGI, really do.
Second question: can someone from PGI explain, please, who is responsible for public project status updates on The Plan webpage? Bryan, Russ, Craig? I see you've added few milestones without announcement and moved CW status 6% forward (it was 44% recently), so I would really appreciate some explanation over few items:
  • Does MechLab 100% ready status mean this fugly UI2 won't be made human friendly in nearest future?
  • Similar question for 100% status of Social Grouping UI.
  • Does 15% ready status mean the component is designed on paper only?
  • Will there be added Clan Unit Life component? What will be the role of Clans in the CW?
In case if I get that unrealistically low lottery chance of devs answer, I typed "thanks in advance" in accordingly small font.

How about an achievement for players with continuous dropouts? Give all the people who abuse the system a giant dogsh*t badge!

No ELO wipe...

You should reset ELO, as a competitive player who has played 1000's of games and is tried of meta who now only logs in 3 times a week-ish to derp about in wacky builds the MM still feels the need to throw me in to the 'high elo meta crowd' making me log off sooner than I'd like.

One can only hope that some achievements have more tangible benefits (Mechs, weapons, modules, camo/paint jobs, xp boost ...).

Let's see what happens.

I'd rather have my ELO reset too. I have no idea where I'm currently at... Its freaking me out. I don't even play anymore to preserve my good k/d.
