Actually, they promised there wouldn't be another total wipe (XP, mechs, C-bills) after Open Beta started, unless something catastrophic happened. They kept that promise.

Stat Wipe was actually about to go through last May,to make way for achievements, but was deferred.

Yes, understood about the exploits. Actually, the only stats I want to keep for achievements are number of total kills and number of matches played. I know that through exploits, people have padded their KDR and stuff. I struggle to keep my KDR where it is and part of that has to do with the fact I don't play AC heavy mechs - which whether PGI admits it or not, have a much better overall DPS than lasers and missiles. I wouldn't be surprised if we'll see a slew of other exploits when Clan tech hits the field. That's why I want to at least have my overall matches played and overall kills count. And maybe other things like: how many times I killed this mech, or how many matches I won on a map. These don't show that I'm the best player, moreso, they recognize the investment in in game time, or in the grind, if you prefer.

had a lot of work this year, actually missed that. there was an announcement after closed beta and the last wipe i remember...

In general achievements hurt the team effort. You will see many players doing things for some stupid achievements instead of helping the team effort.
I can't wait to see the slow built-up common sense in PUG games going down the drain once achievemnts are in the game.
Last hope: Achievements emphasize the team effort. Ah, forget about this we are talking about PGI here....
This gets casual more and more. Guess this and many other issues are sacrifices to the F2P model they chose.
"A thinking persons shooter"? Yeah right, w.a.i...

No, they said that there will probably no further reset but it is pretty obvious that you need a reset when adding achievements. Where is the point in unlocks if you already have them when logging in after patching?

So once they find out about more exploits there will be more resets.

When will it end?

Why don't we just wait to play until they say this is the last reset and put it in stone? I knew this was coming ages ago and was the main reason I wasn't pushing so hard on stats. They may just disappear again . . . . .

Bah, so much I want to say but to displeased with this to put it all down. I do have a request tho for an addition to the MechLab/Home Screen... a Previous Match button that'll give us the stats page from our last match. Disconnecting in the middle of a match and never being able to see how it turned out is a let down when things are going good.

I dont care if it does or if it doesnt but I do know math.

if X is ELO unchanged from where it is now.

and Y is all new stats that determine ELO.

old players versus new players after March 18 will never have accurate player versus player stats.

Breaks it, just reset it.

Elo has always been broken. This changes nothing on that. Elo calculations are just the same. Remember, XP, Skill and MechTrees, C-Bills and Mechs don't change.

It was never going to be accurate, old vs new. Beta just had so many stuffups and exploits, which some players took full advantage of that stats became meaningless (which they are, since they are selective in what aspects they show).

For the first 2 years i just played to have fun playing, I never cared about stats KDR wins ELO, so for me this really doesnt change anything, I wont play any more or less, I 95% pug anyway when I do play, I've played the best, beaten the best, played the worst and been beaten by the worst, just names on the board. As long as I keep my Cbills whatever

i don't know why anyone would even care about the stats reset. They are archiving your old stats so you can look at them all you want, you aren't losing them.

Besides, that three weeks i tried leveling commando's, I'd like to forget about that.

It was stated on NGNG that the achievements would be associated with rewards like mechs and cbill bonuses, and that stats had to be reset so everyone could participate. I only quoted your first question, because I physically cannot roll my eyes enough at the melodramatic incredulity that followed that first question mark.

I fing the server at fault for DC but perhaps a DC prior to exploding counts as two deaths. Easy and not the end of the world.
