This is probably the most important reason for the stat wipe:

http://mwomercs.com/...78#entry3222678

We get it. Quit spamming it. No one obviously cares. That's the 4th or 5th time you've said that.

Anywho...

One's Elo score is the only thing that truly matters. All the little stats are nifty and all, but all they do is let me know what chassis I use most often and perform best in (which I also infer from the end of the match scoreboard.

And lastly, Pieper nailed it. I've got like 8000 matches since OB, not counting the 6000+ from CB. I've already started to migrate to other games in my spare time. There is nothing here of value anymore. All this vapidware that PGI has spilled is failing to keep my attention.

What I DO want:
-improved matchmaker (I'm tired of getting rolled by sync's. I'm tired of my team having all window licking dunces while the other team has 2 premades on comms. I'm tired of being outweighed so much that the opposing team's lightest mech is still heavier than our heaviest)
-Community Warfare
-More maps
-Private matchmaker (which is coming, and your PUBbie queue is gonna get #REKT by it, son)

What I DO NOT want:
-Stupid achievement system
-more mechs
-more "buy this" packs (I hate myself for buying the Overlord package, worst $80 I've ever spent [not a hyperbole, BTW])
-shitty interface (listening to a PODcast recently I've discovered Russ is WAY too disconnected from his player-base)

Seriously PGI, Russ, Paul... we have clamored for what we want. No where did the majority of the playerbase say they wanted an Xbox/Steam style achievement system. We have, however, pissed and moaned about the lack of community warfare and maps FOR YEARS NOW.

My 2 cents:

*There are plenty of things in this game that I feel accomplished about when I achieve them, from the sounds of it I'll now get a nice badge to show that I've actually done it. Yeah! It's a fun little ego boost, kinda like a scouts badge, that shows I did the thing that made me feel groovy whilst enjoying the core thing of running around shooting mechs. PEWPEW!! :D

*Why are people so worried about people in their team screwing around to get an achievement / not playing as you want them to? If they are in your organised group then either hoof them or find a new clan as there is clearly a teamplay deficiency. If they are in a PUG drop then 'welcome to PUG drops!', where no-one ever does what you want them to because they are autonomous single players.

*So a bunch of stats, that you can't show off to other folks (unless you screencap, which can be faked), are going to get frozen at a specific point in time and replaced by a different, more detailed, set of stats that you can't show off to other folks? The Horror!! Am I the only person here who plays to play, rather than to clock up a certain amount of drops? Did I miss something about the game, did they previously give you an achievement and an extra inch every x000 rounds? Also thanks for removing my terrible KDR, at least until I get another horrible death streak.

*Achievements give a game a nice sense of progression and direction, so whilst we don't have campaigns or plot to play through they give us something extra to do whilst zapping each other. Plus they give new players something to gun for/an idea of what is cool and groovy to do, so that's can't be all that bad. They are also optional, unless you are someone who feels compelled to do things they don't like doing because a missing set of pixels makes you feel incomplete.

*Yes, this might slow down Community Warfare by a short while (because no developer has ever been able to work on two upgrades at the same time). This is mildly bad, as a delay is annoying if your entire quality of life is based on a developer hitting a deadline, but then again it could mean that Community Warfare is now going to come out with CW Achievements! It could actually work out quite nicely if things like free mechs, mechbays, and vanity items (as per the previous challenges) are going to be more common!

TL:DR I for one welcome our new achievement overlords.

Will there be reward incentives or bonuses for achievements and most importantly - will these incentives encourage better teamplay?

Given that the amount of kills is one of the factors in getting an achievement you can rest assured that you're going to see teammates doing their best to steal as many kills as the can......that said, I'd say NO.

Of course there is an ASSISTS achievement as well so that SHOULD in theory encourage teamwork but my prediction is that folks will run randomly around the battlefield just trying to TOUCH everything.

Ok, Achievements.. fine.

Just please, please make it proper millitary badges, ribbons and medals like the old BETA test thread http://mwomercs.com/...ons-suggestion/ with the beutiful picture of old X-Wing millitary uniform with all the medals, badges and ribbons. Just look through the old Great Houses books for canon BT ones.

The last thing we want would be kid style achievements like wow kapow Hat Trick, or yeah Liquid Metal! :D

still so much crying, I just don't get it. As far as i am concerned without community warfare stats have been pretty pointless. I mean it's just a thing to look at , a measuring stick for yourself.

And it's going to happen, and it will happen again. If they ever plan on presenting cw as some games do their competitive aspect, there will be seasons. If there are ladders there will be seasons, or time frames that count towards those ladders that are then later reset to let a new feild of players get up the ranks.

these are all things people have been asking for over and over again, and this is a start to something of that nature, but now all we get is crying about it.

I didn't care about the beta stat wipe, and I won't care about this one. I don't really care about achievements, but some people really like that stuff and if this gets us more active players then good. Ally ou stats will be archived and you can look at them all you want to. So why all the rage?

pretty meaningless i think. Seeing as i don't play a game to play stat warrior, i play mechwarrior. Stats are like adding a neat little feature, not the game.

Late to the party, but I'll weigh in here in the depths of nobody-will-read-this-far for the hell of it.

I've never played a game to reach achievements. The few people I knew that ever seemed to give a damn about such things were highly OCD. When I find that I hit some random achievement, it has little impact on how I perceive myself as a player, nor do I see its value for other players. They generally seem trivial and the only purpose they seem to serve is perhaps some kind of unrelated social element outside of the game. For me they simply distract from the game, remove immersion, and make it feel kind of silly.

That said, I'm sure there could have been better ways to subtly institute some kind of reward/recognition system based on legitimate ties to Battletech lore or at least some kind of believable faction role. "Hat Trick"? "Liquid Metal"? Christ. One step closer to "C-C-Combo Breaker!". Thanks PGI, we need more derp in your Mechwarrior vision.

Dude. Are you trying to hate MW:O?

What problem is it that you have a popup for like 5 seconds displaying an achievement?

Aww, I thought bronies were all about love and friendship, lol. Anyway, not all of us that have played since CB are done with MWO. I have taken a couple of breaks and I play other games once in a while so I do not get burnt out, but MWO is the only active MWO game out there, so I keep coming back. If you are a true Battletech / MWO fan, you will ride the MWO ship down to the bottom of the ocean.

The achievement system is a component of CW people, so that means that PGI is working on it.

Damn straight we're about some love and tolerance. That's why this is still my favorite multiplayer game(note: favorite, not best). The moment I got home from drill I fired it up and played about 15 matches. I love this IP, I think it's the deepest and richest IP out there. I love what PGI is doing, I just don't agree with HOW they're doing it. Which is why I'm still here and won't leave til the servers are shut down.

PS. Favorite is Luna, who yells. Loudly.

Why current stats can't serve to reward us with achievements?
I thought they had tons of log files...
Are they incomplete, some important data missing?

That community was nice, polite and constructive.

Now everybody thinks he has the right to rant and flame as soon as PGI chances something.

That is their game and they are creating it in the way they believe it will works.

If you don't like, give your opinion and maybe they will listen. If they don't, just walk away without that much drama!

I'm not terribly interested in achievements. I would, however, like to see a stat added to what's displayed: average damage per match for each mech. Sometimes k/d ratios and win/loss ratios can be misleading, so they're not always the best indicator of how well you, personally did (see: playing in a PUG).

Edited: I am in the 'ELO should have been RESET group' as well. How are we suppose to get that 10 headshot achievement without some mechs to stand still ?
