You can't opt-in at "any time" because then you could simply wait until you see a clear winner in the tournament, join that faction, and then opt-in... cheating the system.

You could kind of do that with any of the challenges, ("only 1900 in Cicadas? I can beat that!") This doesn't make sense, the factions aren't versus each ther, the only thing you could do is see which is doing the WORST, and join them, if you delayed. They made this about individual effort, so it really wouldn't matter when you joined. I think they just need a cut off point? Too bad, its barely Friday!

Have been searching for the opt-in on the site... didn't notice that line before. Would have loved to participate this weekend. Strange because this is the first time that you arn't able to opt-in once it had started.

YES... PREMADES... FARMING... DISCONNECTS... because we know those damned discos are the real threat. i think you're mistaken the word "Premade" for "Pug"

However, that is not to say that everything went without problems. There is a second allegation, that some groups spontaneously colluded to boost a single individual for one individuals personal gain. This is against the spirit of the tournament, and as such, a number of Pilots guilty of such actions will be ejected from this tournament entirely once the investigation is completed. Whilst many of us may have harvested the loot of a pilotless Mech on assorted missions; requesting the possibility to do so in an official ComStar tournament to get the 1st place of the leaderboard is a felony that we will not tolerate out of respect for all the truly skilled Pilots and in the honor of the spirit of the tournament.
It's a lot harder for a pug to try and farm when you have 11 other mechs all trying to get the same kill. If premades were allowed, they could blast through an opposing team and collaborate together on a d/c or afk to boost the score of a single pilot.
All of this is moot however because PGI did the right thing and made it a solo drop tourney.
