Group queue. 6 matches. 6 Losses. 1 blanked (I was a narc raven team wanted to try LRMS). 4 less than 200 damage. 1 at only 230-something. Just awful.

Last night after working (and looking after an unwell child) I wanted to chill out with some MWO... only to (initally) find the solo queue full of actual T1 players and well known comp players o.O! ... Oh well... the rest of the evening was much more relaxed.

My whine:
I'm way too late to the Urbanmech party. Just decided on a whim I'd buy one and while it's first build was poor i love it now.

Got a sneaky kill on a king crab, i then took my chances brawling with an atlas and won!! Then splatted a locust afterwards, damnit should of bought this mech sooner.

1st game, headshot

2nd game, shrekt by bows3r

3rd game, nasty guy being unconstructive, yelling in voip about why we need to be in circle. later, he runs into me and yells MOVE!!!! to me very loudly in voip and shoots me, bring be down form 100% to around 80%. continues ranting loudly and obnoxiously. talks about how ****** our playerbase is. I kindly inform him that their entire team is pushing the circle and theres no way we can get in. He tells me how I fail to understand his point. I did understand his point and agreed with it (which was that the team needs to shoot guys in the circle) but his point was presented in a very unconstructive way and deserved to be said in a thread like this rather than yelling it at us in voip.

Next couple of games were ok

Next few were rolls

Rest games 50/50

This is the new big thing. Trying to be remembered as the winning dropcaller with the shitlord attitude. Time will tell if the rest of the lemmings out there are masochistic enough to think this is cool. If so, look for this one to cash in on his MW:O celebrity and start a twitch feed any month now. Look for many others to start imitating him in the PUGs.

Look for the rest of us to turn off voip. Because we can't have nice things.

i always liked the littlest LRM dingy with TAG myself

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...3a2eb5b4911f2b8

was much more fun when it had crazy energy range quirks. could TAG from a different zip code....

So how is it possible to train people anymore with the population what it is? How do you play as a team, in a team game with players of vastly disparate skill levels?

Last night, group queue. We're an 8-4 man throughout the evening. I and another were the highest tiered players: low T2. The rest were T4s and T5s (1 t3 joined us for a two rounds).

Played probably a dozen matches before I couldn't take it anymore. All loses, a couple of close games, the rest were pretty bad losses. No...they were brutal.

Started from the get go as a six man, our six went one way the other six went the other (despite calls). Results were predictable. Tried running mechs of all the same speed so as to better form and stay in a ball, tried running two scouts and the rest as heavy as possible. Tried running light to try and wolf pack. Even tried letting folks run in what they felt comfortable in. Nothing was working.

I don't think our builds, or mech choices or tactical decisions really mattered much though as of ~10 of the ~12 or so matches played, we came up against six mans (or more) of known fairly competitive teams. The two or three matches where I thought we had a shot based on the loading screen, ended up with enemies running almost straight clan meta Cheetahs, Night Gyrs, Kodiak-3s, etc. (and still a few trying the Nova flammer build so at least we got some kills); but the rest were teams that knew what they were doing and they let us know it...and then showed us (at least our guys got to see the art of smack talk by those who can back it up).

Anyway, the brutality of trying to teach and play as a team when you can't even get into range, or form up or organize a ball and a push before 4 arctic cheetahs hit you in the back, and then focused gauss and PPC start reigning down on folks' backs; with your guys yelling into VOIP/TS "Someone call a target!" "Help!" "What do I do?" just breaks ya down after a dozen losses in a row and I have no idea what I can do about it.

After two years, I think last night was just a capstone to the last month (or so) of brutally one sided matches where it has become impossible for low tier groups to have a fighting chance at developing in QP group queue. I think the population at any given time is so low that scrubs like us are guaranteed to be placed against some of the best of the best more often than not, and that...frankly...sucks.

Seriously the barracks get stuck in archives to make way for the frickin comp section !!

Only damn thread, on the entire forum, where people can have fun, and it gets stuck in the cupboard under the stairs, so that 5% of the population can have four new sections.

As for the Group play Bud, wait for the Comp Queue to turn up in July, they can all smack talk each other then ,and leave the casuals in the 12v12

Why do some people even contemplate F.W as a good idea.

For shits and giggles I dropped for an invasion match tonight, first time I've been a dirty claner in FW since the first wave, so only one of my mech was optimised, my stormcrow prime was stock ! I even forgot to check if my deck had modules, I was that unprepared.

Yeah I was probably, no definitely taking the piss by dropping in that state, but I came third highest damage dealer got six kills, it was under 700 damage. Yeah in a normal game I'd have felt pretty ashamed to turn out less than 1k damage, but when only four of your team break 500 with four mechs three don't make 100 and two don't make 200, your not going to score well.

Just why do people that bad, put themselves through such torture, it can't be fun for them, and while a win is better, when your opfor scores that badly it must feel pretty hollow.

Dear Charlie Lance and Assault teammates.

In conquest, don't cap, unite with the team. You are not fast enough to cap in and out, and engage then disengage. 4 v 12 ain't pretty to look at, neither is 8 v 12 after our entire assault lance is wiped out.

Wanna bet? My guess is that only a very small fraction (those serious about another shot at the "world championship") will focus on the comp queue. The rest of them who claim to just "want good competitive matches" will stay right where they are because what they really want is to keep doing exactly what they do now: farm pugs and belittle those of lesser skill. Most will not give that up.

You know the game will be downhill fast if all your team assaults mechs just in far back firing it's long range weapon never in the frontline...

Man, FRR/star league hub was barren tonight. No one to play with. 1-12 man doing CW, and a two ~6 mans. Nothing else. Not a representative test sample or anything, but for 2 years I either played CW or Group Queue QP, now twice in the last week I've been forced to play solo for a few matches. No one...no one...in any of the units I typically drop with were about. Hope folks are just burnt out waiting for the skills tree/new tech or something and this isn't an indicator of a larger "screw mwo" trend. But man, never seen the hub so empty.

there has been times where all I can find is 6 people all together in the hub. That hasn't happened in awhile though, mainly due to the unification of the IS in phase 4.

Just looked at the hub now, there are currently 4 mj12s in the CAFE channel, and 4mj12's doing FW drops. Other than that, a few guys alone in channels, but hey, it is 3:48 PM (PST) on a Thursday so it does make sense. Hopefully thinks will kick up in a few hours, as more guys come back from work and stuff.

Well, I'm off to get a haircut.

also, minor whine. Whenever I make a post, instead of it showing up on the forums, I have to refresh the page to see my post. At first I thought it wasn't working, but then I refreshed and made the same post 5 times.

If you aren't a large group in the queue you are going to have a bad time. I learned this long ago. If you are trying to teach people in the group queue, you really need to run a low level account so the tier average doesn't just throw you to wolves. Otherwise you should just run private matches to get the new guys' feet under them in a somewhat controlled environment.
