Part of that may be the nature of the challenge this weekend. People are trying to hoard kills to meet the challenge. No target lock, no LRMs hitting your target, more likelyhood you will be the one to get the kill.

The Sync issues are really bad. Massive lag spikes galore. Get 6 Kills, do 320 damage. Switch to lrms, do 1000 plus damage =1 kill, get critiqued that the atlas is not an lrm platform, but at 320 plus ping its the only scan weapon that registers. (sort of), so I am just going to drop in my own timezone because clearly, the connection speed difference clearly favours the 130 to 200 ms range.

PGI wants to encourage role warfare ( for example, by making every mech carry 2 consumables and 2 weapon modules)....so they do this by having a challenge that rewards nothing but damage and kills.......

Bullet I know what you mean. Last week I had a good match in my Raven 3L. I narc'd and tagged my heart out. I got 18 spots. I covered my assaults as they pushed from lrm rain. I ferried mechs from start to meet up point with my ECM umbrella.

Basically I was as useful as possible. I helped my lrm boats nearly hit 1k damage, match score? 38. A guy in a heavy that did just over 200 damage scored more than me.
I'd say role warfare is dead alright. You do your role and get nothing for it!
