He's been practicing ever since I gave him the extra nudge when NARC was fixed to try it out. He gets all loaded down with squee when he knows he's got good LRM support. Me personally, I love running with Selaa and Nynieve when they have their 'bookend' Stalkers out. Then it's deluge time.

I feel better about running NARC in my Jenner-K now. Still feels under-powered, but more useful with the NARC.

And I'd love for folks to lock tagetes more often. I pack plenty of missles to share when I come to the match. Missles are like cookies: why wouldn't you want your teammate to share them?

You'd think that people would welcome them. Today I was in a match where I pinned the entire enemy team down with LRMs for about 4-5 minutes (seemed like forever). Every time they'd poke their heads up, I'd fire. What they didn't know was that there was nobody else around and that the rest of my team was flanking. Their AMS tore my missiles to shreds, I got no kills and little damage, but we got the win. That is what counts. Surprisingly, this was all unorchestrated PUG play, too.

The problem is the stats. One one hand, you have people grading themselves and others on kills, wins, damage, etc... On the other hand, the stats keep people in the game -- it's something to work for. PGI can't fix it, we just need to educate these poor souls.

Thanks IraqiWalker,

I remember 180, but a friend of mine was recalling 200. I need to pass the information off to a new player we brought in. He is boating them on a stalker.

Thanks Iwalker.

I only use LRMs to count coup.

Did you get the mechbay in the 11 hours you had left?

Nope, played most of that time in my DWF, and didn't notice you had to have a Marik mech for it. :)

Silly sleep deprived me.

EDIT: Here's my new whine: WHY DO WE NEED SLEEP SO MUCH!!!???

it would appear the 3/3/3/3 in pug is starting to settle down. heck even able to get Big Al out for a few games. assault was under 18% all morning yesterday. with kitfox out for cbills the light query has been in the low 20s

my whine is now i have to keep 4 fully kited out mechs to be able to go to the low batch. that and bought some new mechs on sale so YLW and clpt have been collecting dust. damn you pokemech but i must have them all, mastered of course.

on a side note got my first kill of a St Ives with big al in the pug zapper. the hellbringer is eluding me though.the rare sighting of anansi has not netted a kill ether but i have only seen one.

Win/Loss is a stat too. The trouble is that it's not as directly associated with my individual actions as point+click=damage. That's immediately satisfying and it shows up long term in my stats too. Wins based on tactical and strategic decision-making don't always have the same immediately-satisfying punch to go with the longer-term statistical rewards (though sometimes seeing The Push pay off comes close).

Team wins do get some better XP and c-bill rewards at the end of the match though if I don't die too early charging forward to force a brawl (again--too early) for my SRM-boats. I've got my own learning curve.

I win more when I adjust with the team, even in a relatively free-lance kind of role like fire support sniper or suppression LRMs, but especially packing SRMs. To borrow from Mr Miyagi: "Patience Virlutris-san. Balance. Focus."

Patience. That's a tough one to remember most of the time. 'Tis the life of a medium pilot.

What metric would show how well you work as a team? Kills don't work. Damage doesn't work well, either. Assists don't even really work. Anything that would work would be so subjective that it would end up not working, like a vote.

I means geez, think about that poor commando who rocks it with narcs, but gets stuck on a team where there are either no LRMs, or they aren't paying attention. No spotting points, no tag bonus, no kills, and 20 dmg. He would easily be the most valuable asset to the team...but no, he scores the least. Poor guy. I pour out my 40 in his honor.

:/ Impatient children who think high damage is skill.

I average 400~600 damage a game on my CN9-AL which is my preferred variant for Solo Q. (MLx3, ERPpcx1, LRM5-Ax1, SRM4-Ax1) For the purpose of being able to fight and do pinpoint damage at all ranges and open up internals for kill shots. ERPpc to negate ECM's for short while and take down UAV's in one shot. LRM's to help a friend in need and give the MISSILE INBOUND ptsd to whoever he is fighting.

You know? HELP the team? If i want 800+ damage to brag about i can just load up my CN9-A(C) with LRM10-Ax3, MLx2. But it won't be able to help in some if not most situations.

You running in there with you clan ultra AC, and just spray and praying getting 800+ damage, not opening any internals, not focusing damage anywhere does not make you a SKILLED pilot. Having to do 300+ Damage to kill one single enemy when i can do it in less than 100, should tell you what you are doing wrong.

Have some patience, soften the enemy up first from long range if they have too many assaults, don't just cry for a "CHARGE THEM" when you have no battle field awareness and then cry like a child how you did the "most damage" and every one else is sitting behind cover.

Spoken like a true centy ace.

Which reminds me:

If you (general 'you' aimed at no one special) win or lose, don't act like a B***h. Seriously, it's a game, play it and have fun, or don't let others have fun.

My whine is to quit this GG crap after a stomp. No... you're condescending. It's not good sportsmanship. Its being a jerk to those of us who are not happy with either what got done to us or how bad we performed or how the game screwed up and don't need that little 'awww poor guy' thing. Say it to your team.

If you barely win and it was actually down to the wire... good play and what not... THEN it's cordial to say it. You don't say 'good workout' to a punching bag, don't say it to me.

No... just don't. Congratulate your team in private and call it a match.

Thing is Kjudoon, the sheer amount of condescending, self righteous "people" you'll get telling you that you are too sensitive, or thin-skinned may sicken you.
Had an interesting discussion about exactly that awhile ago on these forums. He said basically reacting to it is failure of self control. He said, change the way you react to this small group of people so it doesn't bother you....

I replied with devil's advocacy: When does the changing of self stop? How many people have to change before it ends? If said "gg tool" keeps it up, with every person who is narked by it changing...then the "gg tool" will NEVER have to stop doing it will they? There will always be someone else to offend with it-that is until the "gg tool" runs out of people to say it to....
So logically following that guy's point there is a near limitless number of people who have to change because of a small group of people spamming "gg" after their side wins.
Or alternatively, that small group of people could exercise a little smidgeon of empathy and keep it to team chat, or just SHUT UP.

The thing I notice about many of these "GG spammers" is, many of them I see recurrently, and nearly all of them don't say it when they get stomped....
GG should be used when it's a close game, where it could go either way. I've done it in tense dogfights in warthunder-especially those fights where the result was inconclusive for both parties. I've only ever used a "gg close" once, to a lords 4 man that was mouthing off in a game we were in. They didn't do so well for once^^
I will congratulate an enemy on good play-if they have PLAYED WELL, and only then. If I see an enemy being skillful, I'll compliment them on it.
But there is never any need to rub a team's nose in it after a stomp-unless they have been cocky and mouthy first:)

Yep. I get what you're saying Kamiko... and if they don't know they're being uncouth, they have no impetus to change. Now they may take the 'you're just a thin skinned little powderpuff' point of view, but when the situation is reversed, they react often the same way in private. I always remember "Boncher's Maxim". "Everyone's a hypocrite. After that it's just a question of subject and scale." Often followed by "Boncher's Correllary": "Show me a man who says they're not a hypocrite and I'll show you a liar."

So I agree with you and your devil's advocacy. I'm still going to tell stompers to not condescend to their opponents and reserve GG for actual GGs instead of spamming it for no meaning or keep it private.

It's what I've been doing. Match ends, and I congratulate the team in private. If it was a good fight, then I say GG WP in all chat.

We all know who the people saying GG (in a condescending manner) are.

They are the same keyboard warriors that will face roll the chat bar and cry "MY TEAM SUCKS" when they don't get carried, because they are comfortably and safely sitting behind a screen pouring out their life frustration on to a game.

But it's all in context, GG simply means Good Game. If it was, then great, if it was not, then its up to debate. Some one might have done some amazing plays and crits, which made the outcome look like a stomp, he might write GG out of excitement without realizing it was a 0-12 massacre. But we can clearly tell who is being condescending.

So all i ask is don't bash the entire community, and expect something to change, when its a handful of individuals that are spreading the negativity who are likely to never change. So i recommend doing your best, and ignoring the post game chat.

Weather it's an inch or a mile, the outcome will ALWAYS be the same; One team will win, one team will loose, no matter how much effort was put into it.
