Just bought battltech........

........ Now I can see why the good players have vanished coincidentally with the release of battltech.

Also sent an email to support as the double XP isn't tracking.

PGI should just get rid of the minimap and use that space to make the cockpits prettier. Pugs don't look at it anyway, and the ones that might look at it don't know how to read it.

They know how to read it though.
What the average puggie sees is:
"hmm reds are flanking us through J6, I could turn and engage, but I'll get shot and my game might be over quicker-if that happens my score will be lower and I get less money"
"I know, if i run now and say nothing, those 2 next to me will get caught first, so I can slip off and live longer"
"after all, why should I die? This game's about me and my fun-I don't know those people anyway"

I realise that sounds very bitter, but I'm pretty sure it's true sadly:(

Or you get people who argue and deride those who try to herd the cats "don't tell me what to do/how to play," "it's my game and my fun-who cares if I ruin yours?"

I think as time goes on, this type of person will become way more common. I'm seeing more and more younger people behave/think like this now in real life-I'm only 40 so not exacly ancient and I've seen a HUGE change in behaviour over last twenty years here in the UK.

I am in a little Podunk town in fly over country in 'Merica, the entitled arrogant mentality of our College age folks is breath taking. When I was their age I was trying to figure the universe out. They want to tell us how to live.

I hate cowardice. I can not tell you the number of times I rushed to a help call only to get my backside handed to me in a pretty floral basket.

"They [Young People] have exalted notions, because they have not been humbled by life or learned its necessary limitations; moreover, their hopeful disposition makes them think themselves equal to great things -- and that means having exalted notions. They would always rather do noble deeds than useful ones: Their lives are regulated more by moral feeling than by reasoning -- all their mistakes are in the direction of doing things excessively and vehemently. They overdo everything -- they love too much, hate too much, and the same with everything else." - Aristotle

"The world is passing through troublous times. The young people of today think of nothing but themselves. They have no reverence for parents or old age. They are impatient of all restraint. They talk as if they knew everything, and what passes for wisdom with us is foolishness with them. As for the girls, they are forward, immodest and unladylike in speech, behavior and dress." - Peter the Hermit, 1274 A.D.

"I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on frivolous youth of today, for certainly all youth are reckless beyond words... When I was young, we were taught to be discreet and respectful of elders, but the present youth are exceedingly wise [disrespectful] and impatient of restraint". - Hesiod, 8th Century B.C

'The children now love luxury; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are tyrants, not servants of the households. They no longer rise when their elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize over their teachers.' - Socrates

Old people (:P) have been complaining about the same things over and over in the exact same way for millennia now and the world still seems fine, doesn't it? Your parents and grandparents' generation thought the EXACT same thing about you as well.

Once kids have to get jobs and start earning some money (responsibility), life will knock some sense into them. That's the way it goes.

I hope and pray that is true. At today's American Universities they bring in service animals like puppies and miniature horses for the kids when things happen they do not like. They give them crying closets and colouring books+crayons. If invited speakers do not agree with their ridged ideology they block the speaker or audience from reaching the building or they riot.

So I've been playing battletech lately and I love it. Only downside is the time sink and slow loading times and I found the no mechs spawning on the Argo mission bug but hey.

Thought I'd come back and give MWO a quick spin. Same **** from a shoddily made game (in comparison) I see. Stupid idiots as usual in clan mechs (always clan mechs = crutch mechs) constantly parking behind me when I try to back up so you get shredded but still do more damage than them. Had a quick go on Solaris and the timer kept resting even if there were other players in the queue. Of which there can't if been more than 12 players total on a weekend night internationally, let that sink in. The usual stomps in quick play.

All I can say is I'm glad to have a properly thought out mech game at last with dare I say it A.I. that is more intelligent than the majority of pugs in MWO.

The 'elders' in the U.K. (not all of them I must stress!) have voted to screw the younger generation with more than just a hint of selfishness involved and ultimately ironically showing more naievity than the younger generation.

Fear is a powerful force.

I do think that Britain was getting atleast a bit ripped off by the EU, but they should have renegotiated instead of going instantly to the nuclear option.

In any case, this isn't the thread for that discussion.

Unless you come from an EU hit area of the UK, really you shouldn't be saying anything about it. Unless you have personally experienced the negative aspects of it, then really.....

Please don't tear off all of my rear armour and leave my CT red. Do it to the guys in red UI markers, maybe?

Also somebody in VOIP saying "hey lights, go over to [whatever coordinate it was] to take their lights. We'll cover you." on Canyon Network. So me and some others actually do that. We're mobbed by arctic cheetahs but we have heavies and assaults giving us fire support while they're all deadlocked around the beacon, right? Course its QP so we don't get any of that fire support and our IS lights get torn up by the fresh enemy ACHs who, as it turns out, have a lot of LRM support. Then a minute after we're trashed the guy who said the order over VOIP says "how did they even get up here?" regarding the ACHs eating all of the team's rear torsos.

You know, just shutting up and not saying anything is a lot more useful than lying and it uses less energy and attention.

Hell, if they at least tried I wouldn't have been upset. Trying and failing, it happens to evevn the best of us. I'm in glass house on that one, I can't even play most traditional FPS games in multiplayer anymore because my hand shakes. It is the lack of trying that pisses me off more than anything else.

It is easier to take the FP loss 42/48 or 8/12 QP loss than the 21/48 FP or worse the 0/12 QP. In the former folks worked their backsides off then had it fall apart in the end. The latter was lost when we started.
