Yep last night was utter garbage for games. It's just not fun anymore every match is the same but i realised not that long ago that there may as well be no matchmaker at all as everyone in quick play does their own thing, ignores everyone else and ALWAYS nascars. What's the point of matchmaker if absolutely noone works together. It's only on a very rare occasion that people coordinate. And I've found that the teams that are most active on VoIP at the beginning of the match usually turn out to be the worst players.

I find Solaris to be the most fun but then it's about as popular as Andy Murray reading accountancy law outloud. It's sad that when across seven divisions at peak time you can at best find no more than five players!

The Game is dying i'm afraid and PGI are only interested in cash grab mech sales. I can well believe the steam charts about the dwindling player base across the whole world!

“Ethel the arrdvark goes quantity surveying.” Honestly, the matchmaker is just there to keep new minnows away from old sharks. I figure the losses I take are just incentive to get better as a player, I just wish sometimes I had not abused the system and left myself at tier four.

Time for my daily whine...i guess
Had a match today, in my Night Gyr, Assault on HPG
immediately before the match started someone in a King Crab took company command
He was giving orders at least, wasn't the part of those guys who pick up the star just because it looks pretty next to their name.
Whatever, match escalated, only me and the King Crab were the last alive. 2 Vs 2. He ordered me to follow him to the enemy base(One of our lights managed to cap it 80% but was killed before he could finish capping)and i followed him. we encountered an enemy Marauder IIC defending the base. Me and the Marauder exchanged some blows, but what i noticed was that the KC wasn't firing at the Marauder. Anways, i was forced to disengage when he warned me that someone is flanking us. It was a badly damaged Ebon Jag. I took it out but my CT was crit. I turned around and saw the Marauder coming after us. I used the "Enemy spotted" on it to warn my KC. But even before my pilot could finish his sentence i took 2 LRGLs to my already badly damaged CT and died. I was quite confident. I knew a King Crab could beat a Marauder IIC with ease. Then when i switched to his perspective i froze. The King Crab had nothing but 3 Artemis LRM15s. Depleted. Nothing else. Not even a small laser. Just LRMs. I couldn't describe the feeling when my hopes and dreams were crushed upon seeing his loadout and witnessing him dying.
After the match i had to go into the Store and check how this loadout could look. Even with 4 tons of Artemis LRM ammo you still have at least 15 tons left empty And that's without Endo-Steel.
He didn't even bother to put anything else up aside from those LRMs

I feel betrayed...thanks for reading.

Wow I have a very deadly KC 3 lrm 15 but it has small lazors and MGs for that late game critting. Triple LRM 15 and no back ups. I feel betrayed and wasn't even there....

Another consistent gripe is this -
Match making is set up as T3-T1. That's a pretty large skill gap. I don't believe MM is set up to match skill vs skill but rather just tonnage vs tonnage. Hey cool, whatevs, but matches are going to be lop sided.

More often than not, I'll be tossed onto the losing derp team that will go 12-1, I'll pull in 800-1000 damage (i like arty strikes), but everyone else is barely breaking 100 damage. Which...There's just no way unless those 11 individuals chain fired everything, stared at them or just...idk, afked 2/3rds of the game. No idea. I really wish I could record matches to where I could free roam the camera to see what people are actually doing in the game that makes it like this. It's frustrating though when I'm thrown into a game like that, and I'm quite literally the only one capable of doing anything at all. Folks are heavier than my ex wife.

My main irritation, people who bring sloooooow mechs. then whine about being left behind or being questioned as to why they are not anywhere near the fight yet.

Even worse, is the special people who actually put smaller engines on said mechs to pack moar gunz.

The ludicrous grind of the pts installer taking so loooooong to install. I have 32gb of ram, a top end i7. A 10,000rpm HD and it's just crawling along.......

Only played 2 matches on pts in the end, tried testing the TBR with 2 lpl and 3erml. It was just sad, very sad. I don't consider most clan mechs 1v1 a threat to start with but with those changes, lol....time for some new test tubes clanners!

Down to a 1v1 between an Urbanmech with RAC/5 with a ton of ammo remaining and 2 ERMls on my team versus a single enemy King Crab stripped of all weapons/ammo and just has a single leg left which is open and dark orange. He starts to farm damage on the Crab's intact torso, overheats himself with override on which detonates his remaining ammo and destroyes his XL side torso... fffffffffffffUUUUUUUUUUUUUU.

Yep just had a quick game in my BJ-2 for a few good alpha's before my team surprise surprise crumbled in yet another stomp (the reason I've all but quit MWO) to get 176 damage when loaded up with srm's. Riiight.

Then a quick blast in s7 and my marauder got a couple of alpha's on a piranha including to its back. Barely harmed it but it legged me with machineguns. Ok.

Maybe should just stick to battletech. Even with its occasional crash just after you've finished a mission (meaning I hope you've save scummed) and rare translucent pink mechs and random multi target not working.

Well, a change of perspective may help here to calm your nerves.

A slow mech can only go as fast as he can. A fast mech can go as slow as the slow mech, so the team stays complact, and use his speed when everybody is fighting.


When you play PUG you have no control over your teammates mechs, nor their setup. Found or join a team, then you may have a say about this, or at least you may know which mechs your mates are using in the drop.
When you play PUG you have no control over your mates strategy, plan, actions. Some can push a PUG team to victory, but htose are professional cat herders in RL i guess. Found or join a team, then you may have a say about this, or at least you know what the team will do and you may have trained these things.

But the point was, said slow mechs can choose to NOT put a smaller engine in to cram more guns on. They can also choose to not idle, nor take bad routes to combat.
Fast mechs slowing down to slow mech's speed lose the main feature of their chassis. they now move at slow sppeeds sans the armour and structure.
If your slow mech can go faster, it SHOULD. More guns doesn't mean better.

Dear god players in this game are crap. Just had a match on mining collective when the enemy had taken the centre platform and our team wanted to nascar round it so some walked right through their firing line to get to the other side then proceeded to rotate around to the other side while the enemy pushed out the ramp behind us three or four of us stayed to hold them back but the rest of the team just carried on moving away getting their backs torn up by the time they got to other side we'd lost the rear guard.

I managed to just catch up (Masc cataphracht) to find the remains of our team literally walked right into the middle of them. And got torn a new one.

And then the next game on caustic valley four heavies just pissed off to a far corner chasing a squirrel.

Why are so people so bloody thick!

Seriously road kill has more intelligence than pretty much every player i'm lumped with on the blue team!

The match maker was broken today.

Polar Highlands selected.

My team, 1 LRM boat.

Red Team, I counted 7 smoky rainbows arching towards team mates. Their lights had a clue and worked as effective spotters and rolled us bad. I got Narc'ed and lasted all of 25 seconds as 7 LRM boats focused me from 800 m away.

7 LRM's to 1 on LRM heaven map.

Really? 8 LRM boats and the matchmaker couldn't go 4 and 4? On a PUG?

Thankfully I got my 300+ match score and 3 kills on the previous game. Not playing anymore tonight.

To be fair if you bring an assault to QP you know you're going to be in for a hard time as the team will inevitably ignore you while the reds will do the opposite and in all likely hood your team will split into two or three groups and go in different directions. anyway.

Assaults are now left to be useful in Fp and Solaris only i find.
