Here's my whine:

Idiots that get listened to, and then have a brain-dead mob following them. Usually right into a death trap, and saying "I told you so' never brings enough satisfaction to counter the massive amount of frustration caused by stupidity.

see i'm torn in these situations. on the one hand we have say "Wile E Coyote" with his new ACME battlemech saying "let's charge uphill on alpine in the open" when several enemy mechs have been spotted already and LRMs already incoming our way. on the one hand i expect we're all about to die horribly, but on the other hand there's a chance that the rest of the team actually listened and MAYBE if we all charge together we catch them offguard before their assaults can get to the hilltop despite the losses in getting there.

since any plan is better than "derp around wherever you want and die alone" and argueing about it just means 4 guys follow the original idea, 4 follow the guy who says flank them and 2 just kinda stand there shooting randomly and die while complaining about how bad the team is since they;re already dead and have nothing else to do with their time.

This whole King crab business. Exactly why are some people getting all bunched up about the idea of the Phoenix pack coming out again? Not everyone has spare cash at that exact time.
They could do a pack called "old guard" (I robbed that, so a tip o' the hat to whomever coined it:P) this could include Sarah's Jenner. Donate half the proceeds to the same charity, give the King Crab to the peeps who spring the $120.

Get a free mech and donate to charity at the same time, win win?

They are? People are actually getting upset about the idea of a Phoenix re-release? Really?

I mean, no. You're joking, right? Please?

As the owner of the biggest Phoenix Pack _and_ Griffin/Wolverine reinforcement pack I can only say: What the hell is wrong with people? The mechs have been available _forever_! You are _not_ a special snowflake if you are a Phoenix pack owner, and others getting it will not make your non-existant snowflakeness any less special!

But surely people cannot be insane and unreasonable enough to think such things, right? So we're all good, right?

Right?

Pretty please with Unseen on top?

Hehe sadly they are. Many of them like the fact they got in there first, that have forum badges and have stuff other people can't have. I own the masakari pack on my alt and bought it thinking it was a limited time offer, just like the PP, yet here it is still being sold. Am I bothered by this? Not in the slightest because my ego isn't tied to it:)
Their attitude is:
"tough! you didn't spend then and can't now!"
"If you couldn't afford it, it's your fault for being poor!"
"You don't want clan mechs? Tough! We have what we want and you don't matter"
"you are self entitled"

Sorry for being over emotional, but the ugly undertone of many of the posts really made me feel very sick indeed. I did pm Russ about my charity idea though, we'll see where that goes.
I really think I should stay off the forums, many posters and their attitudes do sicken me greatly.

The word "noob" gets under my skin more than anything. It makes me feel like I'm playing a game (and not just this one, mind you) with 12yr olds.

Also, people blaming a lost match on pugs... when they themselves are also a pug when in a pug match. PuG is a group of random people... if you're in a pickup group, you too, are a pug.

People raging in chat while spectating, instead of just leaving.

I think maybe I'm going to have to stop posting on the forums. I have gotten so angry at the smug attitude people are displaying that got the phoenix pack and by extension the king crab.....they are basically sticking their middle finger up at anyone who didn't/couldn't get it and they think that behaviour is fine.
I qualify for it on my clan account, but sadly it won't get used as I won't be able to use it in CW.......I tried to be positive and put forth the solution to the having to buy a clan pack issue, the one where I suggested donating half proceeds to charity. That just got ignored under a wave of "tough! you can't have what I have! your fault LOLZ!."
I sat there and read post after post and it all boils down to the same thing, people want to keep that sense of being rewarded for "supporting" PGI, they want to feel as they did something special that others didn't. They want to keep that sense of superiority I guess....
They still got all the perks, the premium time and early access....all peeps would get now is paint jobs and a 30%cbill bonus..peeps suggested even forgoing all of the perks but still these guys rain on that parade.

Tonight I felt lost as I read some of the smug vitriol. I'm also saddened as it led to me getting over emotional, I find thinking like that offensive and disheartening. I made a slight fool of myself trying to stand up for those who couldn't or simply were not there to get the darn PP, so they can have a chance to get this reward via an IS route lol.
I feel like a villain for trying to do the right hing lol.

I think I'm too naive and soft for game forums.

Dude, don't spare them a second thought. Just be satisfied with the knowledge that you will get the King Crab for C-Bills, and cave their 80 dollar smug faces with it.

I think I'm too naive and soft for game forums.

Lets see if I can try to phrase this better than the last time I tried (Say hi to Sandpit if this doesn't work)

Sometimes you need to take a break.
Sometimes, the people you are arguing with are more venting frustration than actually trying to argue against you.
Sometimes they are just trolling you. (And some of them are very good at that)

Some times, frustrating as it is, you need to go and work on something else for a while until they are done.

I say that as someone who has spent most of the last several weeks working on (trying to finally) finish the original Neverwinter Nights, rather than deal with (intentionally or otherwise, I was never sure) obnoxious people.

....or sometimes you just need to stop reading in that area.
I stay out of GD 98% of the time for that very reason.

I just try to stay out of GD as much as possible. I haven't had any horror stories there, but I try not to.

Which brings me to another whine:

Idiots on forums are absolutely frustrating. If you're not going to read the OP or understand the topic, don't post. You're just making a bigger moron of yourself. Especially when your post is literally just insults.

Its like when I make a topic and I scroll down to see the users looking at the thread. Once I see certain names I know nothing good is going to come of it.

That is actually my favourite. See some real teamwork or interesting ideas emerge.

Yes, but then we miss out on the fun out in off-topic!

Having said that, consider this an invitation for those frustrated to come join us over there, Last Post Wins has been kinda slow lately, and that is just one of the pinned ones.

I know mate, I think I'll have to partake of that advice.....though Russ's actions concerning the issue have given me hope:)
Just a shame those special PP snowflakes got their way though...

I'll be getting it for free anyway mate. It was never about me getting it, rather about challenging the ugly behaviour of those who want to deny others the chance to get it via an IS route. the ugly, smug single finger saluting gall of it....
I've got all the mechs I want Is-wise, unless they release the Panther or Venom.
That's why I put forth the idea I did with the charity donation attached, why not make a good thing come of the whining? that way, EVERYONE wins and I really like the sound of everyone being happy-rather than just a smug few.

And yeah, a few faces will be getting rained on by lrms if I see 'em:P
