I absolutely would have bought a Founders pack, but I'd just moved to California and didn't yet have a job when they were available, I have the Overlord with the Saber upgrade, the Masakari pack (couldn't quite bring myself to justify the money for a Khan mech) and am fully intending a Man O'War pack purchase posthaste, and you know what, I just can't find it in me anywhere to care one bit if PGI were to make any of the "limited edition" packs I've purchase available for sale again to anyone that wants them, complete with any of the pre-order bonuses or not.
I have every Collector's Edition of World of Warcraft, and would absolutely applaud Blizzard if they made the pets and other perks available to the whole population that play that game. I completely fail to see how that should, or even would, affect me, or my purchase, or enjoyment of the game, in any way at all.
I'll never understand or relate to that frame of mind.
I have 3 kids, and I try to imagine trying to justify teaching them that that behavior is acceptable in any way.
"Now kids, if there are only 10 cupcakes, and you happen to get them first, it's absolutely imperative that if anyone tries to bring more cupcakes for the kids that didn't get any later, that you put your foot down and make it known that that is unacceptable, and an insult to those of you that originally got the cupcakes in the first place! It's only fair!"
Yeah, terrible. My whine is that human behavior is so very often just terrible.

The whole things stems from these exclusives being the only way for those players to show that they were "there" when something happened. Like the limited edition Netherwhelp that makes a player stand out as being someone who bought CE Burning crusade box. Or limited event items. Same thing. The Fairy for the Nvidia event, for example.
Or in a more obvious example: I have been a League of Legends player since season 1, and when that season concluded, I got a tiny summoner icon that most players will only see during the loading into the match screen. It shows other players that I have been in this game longer than they have. That's it. There are very few items like that in League of Legends, and they all mostly state "I'm an old geezer in this game". That's it.
They feed into the need to stand out. I understand both sides of the argument. However, for PGI, and their knowledge of how horrible online players can be (How on earth do you protest against Sarah's Jenner!?). The safer option was not re-releasing the Phoenix Pack, since it would upset a lot of that pack's purchasers. Then again, if someone buys the Man O'War pack, they still qualify for it.
Basically, re-releasing the pack is mostly for those with separate accounts. I am honestly in favor of Kamiko's idea, however, I'm showing you why it might not be the most viable course of action. If PGI can allow you to move mechs between your accounts, that would actually be a non-issue for a lot of people. However, then they have to worry about re-reimbursing XP, and transferring mechs that have 0 XP on them into your account, or some other things that I haven't thought of while typing this post.

And like I say, when relating it to that conversation with my kids, it just starts to feel even funnier.
"See, I was around back when they were handing out the cupcakes. See this frosting in my beard? That shows that I've been here awhile. If you'd been around back then, you could have had a cupcake too, but as of now, you just have to witness this frosting and feel those pangs of jealousy, and that deep longing for chocolate sponge cake and butter-cream frosting. Did I mention that if you placed an order for cupcakes before they started handing them out, you could get yours with sprinkles? Yeah, mine had sprinkles. It was delicious."
Also, now I want a cupcake. My new whine. No actual cupcakes exist anywhere in my house.

I call "RUSH" to the team, who then SCATTER in every direction and manage to still lose the game.

True enough.
The flip-side of not being a jerk about the stuff one got back in the day, is not being a jerk about the stuff one didn't get. If they reissued a Founders pack in some way, I'd absolutely buy one. But if they didn't, there's certainly no reason to be jealous, or upset at the Founders who do have them. Just as I find it difficult to imagine myself feeling upset at people who may buy a Phoenix pack, were they to re-issue them.
All of these concepts are great daily parenting lessons.
"If you do get a cupcake, and there are none for those who come later, be gracious, and enjoy the memory of the cupcake quietly to yourself without being a jerk about it."
"If someone does make more cupcakes later, and offers some to those who missed out the first time around, be glad for those who get them now, and recognize that in no way does this actually diminish your original cupcake."
"If you show up late, and do not get a cupcake, do not be angry with those who did and jealously demand more cupcakes. Be happy for those who were able to get them and move on with your life."
"If you didn't get a cupcake, but later someone shows up with brownies, or cookies, sweet, this party is awesome. Say thank you and be grateful that you get a dessert."
"Your value as a human does not come from desserts you've eaten, or from being recognized by others for the desserts you've eaten, neither should you devalue others based on the desserts they've missed out on."
"You should not, no matter how badly you want a cupcake, try and eat the cupcake in your computer game no matter what IraqiWalker tells you about cupcakes. It only makes a complete mess of your computer."
Now can I tell my wife that playing all this MW:O is actually making me a better parent?
*Edited to add that, my whine is my wife doesn't already know that it obviously is.

I used the Civilizations and Age of Empires games to get through most of my history classes in homeschool.
Still had to write papers about what I learned, but you can use videogames for learning.
(Even the non-edutainment games! Especially the non-edutainment games!)
Now for the whine, those people who made it so we cannot do that anymore by playing the games, but not doing the rest of the work.

I'm sick of Derptown loaded with Rambotardia because solo play is a waste of time. I'm sick of Stomptown with their Esporto Epeen contests of how fast they can abuse non-obsessed players because you can't enjoy a game with friends if you keep getting matched with those treating this as a sport.
I'm sick of the failure of bad programming and host state rewind that screws those with good ping but bad frame rate while benefiting light pilots who shouldn't be indestructible little combat gods all the while nerfing assaults into obvlivion, while PGI doesn't get overseas servers to make life better for those in europe and the Pacific because their community is too small.
l'll watch and see if PGI finally realizes that the 2-4 person queue must be recreated, or if CW vastly improves the rampant stupidity that currently rules here.

You'll always have a place to come back to, but enjoy the break and make the most of it.

I turned my chat off mostly because I am trying not to violate my company's code of honor. Let's face it, I'm glad for 'push to talk' and now muting myself because my frustration is rather intense.
When only one out of seven matches is what you call enjoyable anymore, it's time to step back and go... do I really want to play for this game and start seriously investing in it?
Right now my answer is no... Sony's getting my money for DCUO instead because I have no fun place left to play here for the time being. I will be checking in from now and again, and probably watching the forum, and maybe once to play 2-3 matches on the new map... but I'm spent.
Thanks for the compliment Rip. I see you out there from time to time too and when you wear red, I get a little nervous.

Notice how low the damage is on both sides. With those scores, both teams should have been a 1-1 tie
They were both having a picnic together and apparently roughhousing ensued and some people had to go home for bandages.
Edit: Really PGI? You're blocking the plural of the word 'aid'????

I'm really sorry to read this matey, but I definitely feel where you are coming from I've noticed my smaller groups are constantly being fed to larger comp premades. The amount of cheap, lame min/maxing going on in a casual game mode is staggering. People spamming strike after strike after strike, like winning this game will feed their unborn child for 6 months...
Plus the disgusting lack of sportsmanship from certain famous teams is starting to irk me somewhat. We had a couple of them in a game the other night, one of the died so it was us in our "lesser" team's fault for turning around to deal with the arty spamming, narcing and tagging light pack that was tearing our team apart-we dealt with them and murdered the rest of the enemy, but apparently we had to "learn to play to win" which oddly is exactly what we did....
the you get a certain team's players who apparently are better than anyone screaming and blaming us lesser players for them losing.
the soloists cried and screamed because they didn't want to face up to four players, now us casual four players have to face up to twelve.....something which occurs most regularly (collecting SS of this).
The place for the casual group of mates does not exist anymore. All I play for now is to gain as much personal skill as possible, go in as anti meta as possible and try to out play the meta tryhards as best I can:)
Anytime you want to drop with me and my guys you are most welcome to, remember : "stiff upper lip old fruit!"
