On the verge of quitting, getting stomped again and again and...
Someone in a similar situation was told that the only common factor was him. I don't buy it. It's impossible to tell what skill one have but I guess I am straddling average, give or take a few ELO points. No player is bad enough to make the team loose 20 in a row just as no one is good enough to singlehandedly make the team win 20 in a row where the teammates come and go and it's utter chaos.
I don't care what people tell me. The matchmaker isn't working, the result would not be worse if it was completely random, at least not over a larger sample.
It's very unlikely that it's all you.
But it's also not that the matchmaker is broken. 12 people always have to win, and 12 people always have to lose. Flip a coin enough times, you'll get 20 heads in a row. Maybe it'll take you a lot, maybe it'll only take you 20 flips total.
My recommendation? If you start having a big losing streak: If you've got the mechs, play another weight class. Each weight class has a different Elo score, so you're more likely to get totally different players on each team. Wait 5 minutes after a match, this causes the people you've been dropping with/against to get into another match while you're out, then you get another group of players (at the same Elo). That's a great way to deal with a situation where there's a particularly strong player on one team regularly cleaning up, or vise versa. Or just go play something else. You just start to get frustrated, and that impacts your play making continuing that streak ever more likely.
But remember: The matchmaker doesn't care about you. It's not trying to make you win or lose, and isn't making matches to do anything to you. It's just matching you with and against people of similar Elo rankings.
