actually the discussion is about unchanging artemis, for very good reasons, they nerfed it badly. Once upon a time if you had artemis with direct line of sight your lrms spiraled into a tighter cluster that produced a lot of torso damage. Now its not worth the tonnage.

Whiners gonna whine. PGI had to shut them up somehow.

thats what MRM's should do and srm's, not lrm's. lrm's are always a spread weapon and no straight forward pinpointmissile or whatever you want to make out of it.

so they fixed artemis back then.
and it was a good thing.

I guess that depends entirely on which side of the lrm boat debate you are on.
An advanced targeting computer should be able to target just as well for either. Make it slightly less effective than ssrm sure, distance counts, but killing its effects all together was making it a useless weight waster.

holy cow i never had such a streak of terrible teams.
dont know basics, dont wanna go to the forum, snipe with ac20 and medium lasers, timid gaming. literally EVERYTHING is lacking.

and then some are talking about respect.

i am not respecting anyone for free. in what fkin world do we live that you have to respect someone for beeing bad?
respect needs to be fkin earned.

So I was playing in the group queue last match, and in 5 minutes I was the last man standing. I was in my 4 MPL FS9-H, and not int he best shape right? So it was HPG Manifold and I decided I would circle around by the F3ish area (from D3, along the blue base area to F4/F5) and try and divide and conquer. Well, some idiots (and they were Davions, which is sad because I like that faction more than others) decided to start calling out where I was. I still killed one guy and legged a Victor before I died, but really. I outlived the suckers, and they are trying to tell me how to fight!? Moreover, braking the CoC and denying the team a win. Smh.

I lagged so hard on Forest Colony that my Stalker went out of bounds and didn't let me get back out.

I exploded.

On the verge of quitting, getting stomped again and again and...

Someone in a similar situation was told that the only common factor was him. I don't buy it. It's impossible to tell what skill one have but I guess I am straddling average, give or take a few ELO points. No player is bad enough to make the team loose 20 in a row just as no one is good enough to singlehandedly make the team win 20 in a row where the teammates come and go and it's utter chaos.

I don't care what people tell me. The matchmaker isn't working, the result would not be worse if it was completely random, at least not over a larger sample.

I spent hours redoing my signature... updated my stats, repainted all my pixelmechs, tried a slightly new layout... but I can't use it.

Limit on banners is 80px high. Unless you use a URL from Facebook, and then it doesn't impose the limit on you at all and you can do whatever you want. But you can't upload animated GIFs to Facebook. So I can't use that particular cheat.

WHY 80px, WHY????

lately i've been getting it where i hop into mech varient 1- get a win, mech varient 2- get a win in a match or two, mech varient 3- 6+ straight losses that aren't usually close. switch to a new mech - mech varient 1- win right away, mech varient 2- 6+ straight losses that aren;t even close, mech varient 3- quick win. i can count on the enforcer 5R and the panther 9R to usually be the start of a losing streak these days. and i actually like those mechs but wins apparently don't.

my griffins are starting to catch it too. the 3M used to be my good one- now 5+ straight losses while the 1N and 1S will both get a win in under three matches combined. needless to say those are the ones i'm furthest behind with in grinding.

fortunately i'll be working on my OP Urbies this weekend so i should be able to avoid that, cause like an urbie's gonna lose a match right?

edit: (FROM THE FUTURE!!!!!)- 74 straight losses in my urbies this weekend WHYYYYYYYYYYYY?

I understand where they come from-to a small degree. BUT to say you are the deciding factor all the time? Yeah right.
How big would sample size be? It is perfectly possible gamer A could have 100 good teams whereas gamer B could only have 60. How big would their sample size have to be to "even out?"
A friend of mine did a rather comprehensive experiment on WoT's MM. This was a 1000 game sample. His two friends were 60% MORE LIKELY to get a worse team than the enemy if they grouped with him. They were also more likely to be in the weakest tanks. I've seen utterly AWFUL players in that game with high W/lR, they are being carried...somehow.
Sure you may be the only same thing in each match, but if you are pulling your weight each time then it IS THE TEAM that's failing. Only way to determine of the mathematicians are right would be to play 1000 or so games, in the same mechs, with the same teams at the same ping etc.....

It's very unlikely that it's all you.

But it's also not that the matchmaker is broken. 12 people always have to win, and 12 people always have to lose. Flip a coin enough times, you'll get 20 heads in a row. Maybe it'll take you a lot, maybe it'll only take you 20 flips total.

My recommendation? If you start having a big losing streak: If you've got the mechs, play another weight class. Each weight class has a different Elo score, so you're more likely to get totally different players on each team. Wait 5 minutes after a match, this causes the people you've been dropping with/against to get into another match while you're out, then you get another group of players (at the same Elo). That's a great way to deal with a situation where there's a particularly strong player on one team regularly cleaning up, or vise versa. Or just go play something else. You just start to get frustrated, and that impacts your play making continuing that streak ever more likely.

But remember: The matchmaker doesn't care about you. It's not trying to make you win or lose, and isn't making matches to do anything to you. It's just matching you with and against people of similar Elo rankings.

not even that, just tries to balance team vs team ELO.
so 1 top player can get stuck with lots of baddies vs a team full of average players.

It is indeed making matches against me. I understand what you are saying but it is the end result of how I am told it works (if that's corrcet). It is not the intention of the design but rather a side effect of how it works, however that is cold comfort.

Does anyone know if it stacks player in desecending level? If it takes the highest ranking player in team 1 does the second highest ranking player always end up in team 2 even if there are a score of combinations that put the teams value equal?
