Still haven't found my happy place with these, so I am interested in seeing what other people post for theirs.
(that XL engine is rather out of my current or foreseeable in game budget ;))

For the record the 6K is the only one Im interested in, and so far its wrecking LRM boats left and right. Good times.

Bacon, I use something very similar to your build. Except, I drop the AMS and downgrade to SRM4 to jam in more heatsinks. It probably has the best results I have seen in any of my builds for the chassis.

Here's what I run on the 6R. It's like running a smaller, faster, more agile Ilya (with streaks). Easily my favorite mech from the Sabre reinforcement pack...

I'd go small pulse lasers (x3) on that arm and a Medium in the head. Just saying.

Why? It doesnt run hot, and it needs all the firepower it can get being a 55 toner. Also why wouldnt you use 4 SPLs in that case?

Here's my WVR-6K

I started off with an XL375 and FF armor until I got speed tweak. Once I got speed tweak I dropped the engine to the XL350 and added more heat sinks and also AMS. Even with the downgrading the engine to the 350 I still got a slight speed increase from 110kph (before speed tweak) to 113kph (XL350 + speed tweak). And with 49% heat efficiency you can fire that LPL a ton. When I start to heat up I just chain the mediums for a bit.

Enjoy!

I call it the Altoid because it's "curiously strong."

Got the Large Lasers to play keep away and 3 SRM6s for close encounters. Seriously, if they have open components, this thing spews fire.

edit: i suck at links

What you think about this 7K ?

Tend to do well against light, plus got range on the heavier with the 2 ERLL

I ran a very similar build and found it too hot. You just can't keep up the fire from your Lasers for very long. Let me know if it works for you!

@Verrue, I would delete the head laser plus one JJ and add a BAP.

My current builds:

WVR-6K Energy Zombie

WVR-6R 3xSRM6 + UAC5 JJ can be removed for more armor.

WVR-7K 2xLLAS 2xSRM6 Still semi-stock, probably eventually go 3x SRM4, but the visual symmetry appeals to me.

what odd hard points. Not sure if putting more speed into that mech would help since its not a brawler or zombie.

@ spheroid : Add a BAP ? , i mean why ? (i must be missing something)

The head laser is a backup when the arm get blown off.

@ marauder:

yeah , in hot map (desert, lava & caustic) its a bit too hot , might downgrade to 2 LL

ill think of another setup

I bought a WVR-6R with my free mech bay, and have been running this build for three days. It's fast and maneuverable and in theory it hits quite hard, but with SRMs being as weak as they are, I've been mostly disappointed. When the SRMs hit, I get 800 damage, 3-4 kill games, this thing absolutely savages all those LRM boats standing around. When the SRMs get lost in the netcode, I get 200-300 damage games and a feeling I've been swindled.

I'm just not sure what else makes sense with the 6R without switching to LRMs, which I have no intention of doing. SSRMs are okay for a light hunter, but with the proliferation of AMS, since the last patch, that's an iffy prospect at best; and I'm really not interested in pairing the SSRMs for yet another build that uses 2 AC5, and the arm can't hold a 20.

The other thing about the Wolverine is that I can't shake the feeling that the mech is incredibly fragile. I'm no stranger to medium mechs, my Hunchbacks have just shy of 900,000 combined mech XP on them right now, and I'm quite familiar with Centurions as well. But even though I have more armor in the Wolverine (everywhere that matters, anyway- only died to legging once) my sides and CT just seem to melt incredibly rapidly, even when compared to the lighter mediums I'm used to. Is it the WVR's huge size that does it? Or am I just crazy, does it feel normal to you guys?

It seems normal to me, but I run my mediums at max speed so I tend to spread damage all over. All in all it seems to run an XL quite well though.

I've only had mine for a couple of days, but they seem to be on par with the Griffin and Shawk for survivability.

They are all running at least 5 JJ's (except the 6K, obviously) and at a minimum of 90kph, though. So that may have something to do with spreading damage.

Great fun to play, just need an XL375 now.

Edit: Lowest health I've managed was 11%. I did get killed though, but only because I went after the last enemy mech with the chinLas (stupid idea when there are 4 team mates left >.>).
