The problem isn't LRM boats, the problem is people don't know how to destroy LRM boats.

Fact - LRM's have a mimimun range of 180m.
Fact - If you are closer than 180 meters you will destroy LRM boats!

Derp. Derpy. Derp

I disagree.

LRM's don't need a nerf.
AMS needs a buff!

Of course. And that will make the game less of a mexican stand-off and a lot more fun.

at least the poptart meta takes skill, these LRMs are out of control, they have come to dominate every aspect of game play, half the matches no one even leaves the starting area because if they do they get killed by lrm, or they just want to sit back and shoot lrms while they drink beer because its super easy.

Lrms need a hard nerf, i suggest allowing ECM for every mech, and increasing the amount of ammo AMS gets by 50% like they did to all the other weapons

JJ to your desired height, then let go of JJ, take aim, fire. All this while dropping. That takes skill.

Sight, lock, launch... That takes, well, a left mouse button.

Issue with ECM on all mechs = Streak SRMS become VERY limited.

How is Spacebar, Aim fire more skill than Target, fire and chase??? ;)

Here's what happens when the enemy team has 4 LRM boats and 4 others taking a decent size LRM rack.

Posted Image

Despite using cover, everyone's AMS was pretty much exhausted in the first 3 minutes. A coordinated push to try to get to the boats at the back, using the cover of the tunnel, just resulted in the team being decimated when they eventually left the tunnel.

While this game was a more extreme example, it's indicative of a genuine broader balance problem created by LRM boating.

Boating needs to be controlled, like it was for PPCs and (bizarrely) lasers..

You are presenting a very lopsided evidence here.

1. You were 1 man short from the start.

2. Your team was much lighter than the other team.

3. Not a single ECM on your side.

4. Spider-K? Ewww. Might as well consider it a non-mech.

Hell, even if the other team had only direct fire mechs, your side would have been slaughtered nevertheless. So there.

There already is ghost heat for LRMs. Not enough to make them unplayable - but it does make heat a bigger issue on mechs with more than two launchers sized 10+.

Doing the house chore with a toddler in your hand, that takes some time to get used to. ;)

And PGI said, 'Let there be 3-3-3-3 and integrated tonnage balancing, for a game without true objective based goals shall verily deteriorate into team death match.'

And so 3-3-3-3 descended upon the game, and there was much rejoicing from the people, who had always wanted a game where medium mech were important, and the coming of 3-3-3-3 was unto them as the second coming of stompy robot Jesus. And the people cried unto PGI, 'Thank you, for indeed you have saved us from matches plagued by LRM boating Stalkers with more assault mech to provide an armor screen.' And PGI said unto them, 'Behold, for it is working as intended.'

But Lo! There were some who did not believe, and continued to complain even after PGI had remedied the issues that the people were suffering. And the people looked upon them and named them trolls and told them to go far away, and PGI looked upon this and saw that it was good.

Well... maybe it won't happen exactly like that, but I think 3-3-3-3 will help. :-)

And yet there is no 3-3-3-3. There is only people boating LRMs. So, your response is purely conjecture about what might happen if PGI implement what they said in the future and don't change their mind as they so often do.

The only time the "Official" Drink is a violation. I remember playing computer games with my Daughter all of 4-6 Y/O sitting on my lap and pushing random buttons.

Lousy games sessions... awesome memories! :P

Didn't I say that at the bottom of my post? *confused*
I think you can deal with the mild inconvenience of a newly viable weapon system for a little while before they get the Launch Module patch sorted. Who knows? They might drop a new wave of trial mechs before then, which would certainly help.

Really? You believe it's okay for them to break the game for a while til they get around to introducing the other feature that you believe might address the breakage...?

When I boat LRMs I don't recall ever having to stop fire due to a potential heat shutdown. So, while there is ghost heat, it seems not enough to actually stop the boating.

Yes. Yes it's perfectly okay for them to do so. It is their game, they can do whatever they want with it. Plus, it technically still is in Ghost Beta until every feature in their Plan hits. So until then we are all just the test crew for PGI. Hope you enjoy it. ;)

Ghost heat was never meant to stop boating, it was meant to reduce alpha striking as a primary tactic within their heat system.

I don't even think K-town has enough room for all this whine from OP.

Come to think of it, has OP checked for his earlier threads there? I think there might be a few. Take a hint.
