If you can't beat em... join em.

LRM like a Boss... or learn you don't have the skill set and need a lot of practice to do it well.

I've been playing for well over a year now, and the LRM's are quickly souring my taste for the game since the buff.

I enjoy brawling the most and have had no problem staying low to avoid the LRMs in the past, I know my role and play it pretty well. But this is kind of ridiculous. It's gotten to the point that the only way to avoid LRM's is to hide behind a giant rock the whole match, and let me tell you how exciting that is.

It's easy for those in favor of the recent buff to just say, "Well just adjust your style"....but that shouldn't mean hiding in a shadowy corner for 9 minutes hoping for the other team to run out of ammo so you can have an honest brawl once in awhile, which is exactly what happens on maps like Caustic.

Now as much as I am hating the current LRM situation...I'll survive, and figure out a way to enjoy myself. But I have a friend who just started playing about 4 days ago. I honestly feel bad for him...For 3 consecutive drops at Caustic, the brawling mechs on both teams all essentially stayed hidden while the LRM boats exchanged fire. It's GREAT fun for a new player trying to learn to play in his trial Hunchback 4P. :)

So yes, for us veteran players, we might be able to "deal" with the LRMs, but it sure as hell makes the learning curve for newer players pretty steep and painful.

I'm sure the guys in LSTs storming Normandy on D-Day thought the German pillboxes and MGs were OP too.

Do you want a specific MW experience that involves all the flavor notes you believe make up MW or do you want to play a game to it's rules and do it so you win and screw making sure every battle is a MW battle?

The truth is, players do not play MW to match lore. They play to win. Reconcile that or find a game that doesn't have some mythical lore feel you need satisfied. LRMs are here to stay along with indirect fire and guidance. The fact that the previous writers of MW or the TT game did not forsee this happening.... oh well. This is PGI Warrior, not MechCanonwarrior.

Why don't you do as I do? Make your team goad the enemy into wasting their ammo ... then move in for the kill once they're out.

You play a game to have fun you idiot, don't ever compare a horrible war experience to a game... Not everyone has to win to have fun, I pity those that do. Your mindset of playing to win and f*** everyone else is a blight on other player's enjoyment of a multiplayer experience. Please reconcile yourself to have a better attitude toward other people.

I play the game to have fun (winning is a bonus) and imo LRM's in their current form are so weak that they bring nothing to the game.
I would like to use them, and i'll occasionally play my C1 just for the hell of it, but they aren't anywhere as effective as FLD weapons. They are terrible as direct-fire weapons as they cannot be used to their full range (mostly due to small "arena" maps) and they are useless as indirect-fire weapons...at least if you are fighting decent players.
In matches, other than seeing them in the sky i mostly forget they even exist.

I have grown so very tired of dealing with the cowardly riff-raff that populate these forums and in-game servers. No one has a code of honor anymore... lrm boating is the pinnacle of cowardice, as you rely on others to take the risk of exposure and sit safely within your lines firing away to take the glory, not even seeing the target. Pop-tarting is no better, but at least they have to face their opponents and require some sort of coordination in order to focus fire targets. Then we have the FS/jenner pilots who hide behind hit registration issues at such high speeds, and vulture upon crippled/damaged mechs like frenzied wolves. Then there are the ECM light snipers that hide behind the invisibility cloak (oh sorry the ECM bs that shouldn't even have any stealth), small hitboxes, long range, and quick speed combined to make something just damaging enough to be annoying but far too difficult to kill and mobile to be worth chasing after, and thanks to ecm, only people that get shot by him, if they have the range, will tend to help you shoot back even after calling it out. Those are actually probably one of the most cowardly mechs come to think of it. I guess those of us who wish to live/die in a good old-fashioned brawl are a dying breed.

Logging on is a chore some days... and the crappy matchmaker isn't helping, frequently giving me nights of 5+ lose streaks in a row, supposedly balanced by the other nights i get just as many wins in a row. Problem is 70+% of games are a 12 to 0-2 stomp that isn't really fun even if you are on the winning side, only like 5-10% of games actually come down to within like 4 kills of the other team. Also my map statistics are pretty much proof that the maps aren't random, most are about 10 ish then 1 map have only dropped on 3 times, while 3 other maps i have dropped over 20 times.

I really hope they do something smart with autocannon instead of the usual crap balancing "fixes" they do. The heat system is the main problem with the alpha game being the best. dissipation needs to go up and the free engine "true" DHS need to go away, then make heat dissipate over 5 seconds instead of 10. This allows stock makes to actually function and makes single heat sinks workable. heat capacity needs a hard cap around 30-40. ah what does it mattter, no one will listen anyway. I'm just getting exhausted with this game and don't even feel like reading the forums anymore. That has never happened before at this magnitude and I have played since before engine restrictions.

They need to do something really good really fast or this game will die soon...

I don't get that about cowardice, talking aboute e-cowardice is kinda silly because it takes a lot of guts facing your opponent risking all that pixeldamage. I do agree that some playstyles are frustrating to other players. But it helps seeing it for what it is.
You could argue that running meta mechs is cowardice, or using a brawler to sneak up on LRM boaters.

But I get your frustration...

I've been playing fps games long enough to see there are usually two types of players.

The "tactical" players (myself included) who use cover, moving carefully to minimize the chance of the enemy seeing them until they are in a good position to open fire, and still be able to retreat to avoid incoming damage.

Then there are the "run 'n gunners" who just run around trying to kill as many people as possible before they die (especially prevalent in respawn modes) and seem to have no concept of self-preservation. For me these people ruin games.

In MWO the run 'n gun types always seem to call themselves "brawlers". I know not all who consider themselves brawlers are like this, but the amount of posts from players saying "I'm a brawler, LRM's are ruining my game" is ridiculous....to the point that i'm starting to feel that brawlers are ruining my game ;)
This is a battlefield simulation (sort of...). Cover is there for a reason, learn to use it. Then PGI might be able to balance things like LRM's and maybe...just maybe they will see reason and fix ECM to do what it is supposed to do instead of being an anti-missile umbrella to stop bad players crying about LRM's.

Sorry for the rant. I've never posted so many negative things on any game forum and that's all i seem to do here, and it's starting to piss me off ;)

Don't count on any ECM changes. The time for that was the pre-175 buff. They made that 1.5t ECM so powerful they started coming up with counters. And the most used, ERPPC, got a sizable nerf. I used 1 on a med to see whats under that DDC's skirts. Medium can hardly affford it now. I'm thinking they really like ECM. Super ECM. PPC Nerf was needed but unintended intentions ;).

The run and gun brawlers you mention are bad brawlers. There are times to make the sacrfice but mostly not. Still think 175 was a bit much. EZmode. And very much hide and pray matches, "PUSH, push em now" ....crickets. Not all matches, and at times you must own tactical realestate in person.

You want a code of honor? LOL... in MWO? This, as you have so pointedly mentioned, is a GAME. It is not a military life simulator. There are no points for 'winning with honor', only winning. Even then, you don't have a code of honor that your enemy follows let alone most of your teammates. There's another reason for that too... they're civilians! Not troops! Yes, there are some current and former military players, but even then, they aren't all playing with some concept of 'honor'. Honor that gets you killed is stupid. The dead have no honor.

It sounds like you dream and pine for a game that never was and never will be: a british military skirmish line or martial arts dojo or gladiatorial arena. If it was a military simulator, this game would play a lot more like World of Tanks where you pray you aren't seen and dead within seconds if you can't get out of the line of sight. I'm sure there are other games out there like Hawken or Titanfall that fit the need to do this with stompy robots. Maybe you should check them out instead instead of trolling us here? We obviously do not meet your approval, playstyle or gaming experience you're craving.

There used to be honour back when we had to pay R&R. If your mech was trashed you could power down and surrender and the enemy would (sometimes) leave you alone, as long as you stayed powered down. Good days ;)

Fear not, with CW, it is in the developers plans to return us to R&R. Money will flow in and out faster from what I see, and those side contracts we'll be able to put on one another are going to make for a nice bonus revenue stream.

Brace yourself for the rise of the Laserboat and PewPewCee-ageddon once again.

And an excuse not to nerf AC's...
But i don't believe anything PGI says until it's in game...and then i usually can't believe the way they've done it ;)

It's not the speed of the missles, or the damage. For me, its the fact that cover is so difficult to find. I feel like I need a mountain between me and the LRM boat to avoid being hit.

If these weapons are to behave like artilery in World of Tanks (and this game is definatey designed after WoT - don't kid yourself), then one must consider the reduced rate of fire those tanks receive. As LRMs would get punished too harshly by a reduction in RoF, then a reduction in trajectory might be the answer. Not huge, but enought that a hill twice the hight of your mech can protect you.

Sucks when the missles seem to drop out of the sky. Makes some maps virtually unplayable without ECM or AMS no matter what you do.
