It is useful as is, just the ECM makes it seem weak, but that's more ecm/perception problem.

Perhaps if you're shooting down missiles aimed at an ally (only), and only if they're still tracking (maintaining lock) on your ally when you shoot them down. Then.. 3-5 Cbills per missile.

More to the point though, when anyone could get such an award of cbills/xp and after introducing such reward, you know they would reduce other earnings to adjust and keep earnings even/within desired limits. After all, then there'd be a c-bill/xp pay back for mounting the things in addition to the "reward" of less missiles hitting and more people would be inclined to mount the things if only for earnings potential.
All said, I don't think earning off per missile will, or should happen. It's a piece of equipment already rewarding you with it's effect. Perhaps if they ever bring role based warfare properly in and someone is clearly given the ROLE of anti-missile screen, then they should get award for that, but then it's because they are performing thier assigned role, not simply because they have an AMS and some missiles flew by.

Sorry but, having an AMS eqipped is not really something that needs to be rewarded...you do this to save your own ass and maybe help your teammates too...

So you should only get rewarded for damage, kills and destroyed component when the target is shooting at someone else. If the target is shooting at you, you have the benefit of defending yourself, less damage taken if you disarm the guy or kill him, so its enough of a reward.
We can also add...

Any shot fired that randomly hit an opponent should not be factored in for your reward. Maybe you need to have the guy targeted to get rewarded so we are sure you are not rewarded for random shooting.

We are not talking of a reward for equipping it, we are talking of a reward for using it. Just like you get a reward for using your laser. If you do not fire it, no reward.
You know you get a reward for dropping and being afk the whole match, even if you lose?

So LRMS and SSRM should not be rewarded because you do not need to manually aim them, it doesn't take much skill to lock them while behind cover.
AMS helps mostly when it group so it would split the reward and if its only like 1000 cbills per match (usually single AMS wont carry more than 1000 ammo), I think it is not over doing it and would make you feel less dumb for carrying an AMS when in most cases you'Re just better off hiding and not caring about others...

No no im saying AMS is strictly for defensive purpose, which is also automatic. Ams even puts the person equipped with it as a priority. Machineguns however are offence only at the moment, so if you used it for defensive reasons it would be unmistakable and would take more situational awareness then an AMS, so a person would deserve a reward. Also on a side note, LRM is not an automated weapon as it is manually fired and requires a lock, which usually requires LOS or NARC, and the person who spots it gets a spot bonus.

As has been pointed out before the logical conclusion of that argument is that we should just count kills because, you know, it all helps with that and that's enough. We need to diversify rewards in order to develop healthy role warfare.

But all you need to do, is to equip it...you don't have to lock, shoot, aim or anything...just stand there and let the missles come...with this logic, I should also request to get a reward for "using" armour. It's basically the same thing...

I'm completely with you on this! But standing around and let the AMS do its work is no role...really not...
I have both AMS' equipped on my TDR-9S...and for what? To save my ass and those of my teammates. And that's the reward.
