Maybe the 170 games was hyperbole, so let's not take that number as golden. However 16 million c-bills will buy you a mech, certainly, but will it allow you to fit it? DHS tax, possible XL engine, and you're already looking at 6 million or more, not to mention say 2 PPCs which are what, 750k a go?
Nobody's saying that they should get everything for free, either c-bills wise or MC wise. I will happily buy more MC (looking forward to it, in fact) when/if we get some definite proof of Community Warfare and an actual reason to be invested in the game. Premium will always speed up the grind, but it could speed up a shorter grind just as easily.
Cash grabbing attempts may be less prevalent, but they're also on a much larger scale - Hero mechs for example can cost a hell of a lot, just for one, and Clans and Phoenix had huge price tags. Now I personally don't view these as "cash grabbing" in the shady sense, just a little overpriced. That's just me.
It's good that you have fun, but losing lots and earning sub 60k (more random numbers, don't take as fact) and losing more from eg repair/rearm which as it was implemented was a terrible system, is not fun for most people and they will only fell frustrated and like they have wasted 10 minutes or more. As I said earlier in the thread, the only purpose in MWO is making game currency. There's nothing else to it beyond shooting robots, which for the majority of people eventually gets old. Yes, the meta purpose is to have fun, but simple deathmatch is not enough to sustain fun on its own. A lot of people like messing around in the mechlab and the severity of the grind hinders that significantly.

Yeah, was just a mention. I would like R&R in some format, just not the way it was previously. Being a soldier isn't lucrative, but playing a soldier in a game where said soldier has to buy and outfit all of their own (expensive) equipment probably should be.

Hey - your Account is not paired with a specific pilot - if so you must be a Clone - and some "Sith" device that transefers your emotions and memorys to another clone - when you die.
Its just more that your account is linked to a Mercenary group - that sends there Mechs to single deployment "arena" trials.
So to have multi millions for a merc group isn't that bad - btw. I'm a Merc Group with a bataillon of Mechs available - but almost bankrupt .

I believe they are failing to shoulder said burden, and the player-base is suffering due to it. I think they need to take another close look at the reward system. They've introduced so many new mechs and modules that the ratio of reward to the amount of crap you can sink your reward into - is way out of balance compared to what it was a year ago.
Without an actual in-game player-driven economy (something PGI has been pretty dodgy on supporting), where buying and selling of mechs and equipment means you get a better return on original investments instead of the arbitrary 'we'll knock 30% or so off the retail cost of the mech in c-bills when you sell it back to us, just as a money-sink.' It turns people off from the game. I know this because I am also holding on to 90+ days of unactivated premium time, the group of 20 or so casual players that I drop with no longer play MWO for this, and other reasons. Bringing in new players is one thing, holding on to them... The trend does not appear to be a positive one...

You'll notice I spotted a lot, similar amount of component destructions 1 LESS kill but 9 assists. I also did around half the damage of the previous game. Yet, I net far more cash...why?
Simple answer. In first game I had a good game, me. Second game I functioned better in the TEAM game. I spotted more, and spread my damage to weaken more targets for rest of my team to mop up.
MWO rewards team objectives more than personal ones.
I disagree about spreading damage being more of a team player action. Focusing fire when possible and thus eliminating targets faster is what I would consider more of a team player. Hitting all the enemies just to hit them is more self serving since it just raises your score and your earnings.

As Will Smith's dad once asked(paraphrasing here)... How many Mechs can you drive at one time??? Nearly a Battalion of Mechs for just one player... Over comping much?

I don't think I explained myself clearly on that-so sorry.
He focused on his kills, spent his ammo and heat on just four mechs. Yes kills are important, but whilst you are killing those four the other eight could be murdering your team. He did an awful lot of damage for just four kills....I would have expected a player to either CT a mech or CT a mech to death. Or even headshot it where possible. He was at near 250 damage per kill which is very high when you need sub 100 realistically if you are aiming your shots......
In the game I reff'd, I legged and weakened bigger targets so others could finish them. Why?
Because whilst my team mate is killing the legged mech-I'm already legging another to be set up. I'm not going after personal kills just allowing others to do it faster whilst I set the ext victim up:P
Also I meant I spotted much more and moved my ECM about to help the team more.
the first game was about me having a rampage in my Firestarter-not actually being that helpful to my team.
Remember, kills and damage are not everything-it's where you put that damage and when.
