Will admit while not a fan of ECM, having a lot of AMS would track with more defensive designs such as the UrbanMech.

When will Urban Mechs be added to the game? Based on this thread alone it seems it would be very popular.

There's also a 39-page petition to add the Urbie in the Feature Suggestions forum. That thread was started back in 2011, and even featured in one of PGI's first official gaffes and subsequent public excuses.

So yes, the Urbie is quite popular. Here's a 20-page pro- and con-thread from 2012, here's Bishop Steiner's Urbie Love thread, and here's the first thread I could find about Urbie Day.

Googling "site:mwomercs.com urbanmech" gives 6,170 results, and since there's been 1037 days since November 1st, 2011, this means the Urbie is mentioned on these forums an average of six times a day!

You're damn right it is popular.

Terrifying stats there stjobe. Now if only PGI would give us the Urbie, how happy would everyone be? It wouldn't really cost them much. Yes, there are a few players that would think it's a crap mech, but hey, those same players are thinking the vindi is a crap mech, so who cares!?

Ay, and if you actually build an urbie, run an urbie, you'll see they're actually pretty effective.

The problem is that the map would rapidly be obliterated by sheer Urbie power.

There'd soon be no place for anything else. Or indeed, anything.

Except Urbies.

you say that like it's a bad thing?

I'm in that camp, too. While I think it's a goofy mech, I also think it has the possibility to be a goofy, EFFECTIVE mech.

In the right hands.

The hands that touches the Urbanmech are already on the path to righteousness.

I love the fact that this thread has made it to 48 pages in just 5 months :D

On the other hand, I hate that we have yet another massive urbie thread, and still have no actual urbie to pilot

I would love to see Urbie's on the battlefield.

I think I might just leg them and arm them for the lawls.

This thread is:

Like one of those dreams where you want to scream, but no one can hear you.

Like the girlfriend (PGI) that has no idea what to get you for any holiday, even though you've been telling them exactly what you want for half a year (Urbie)

A torso that can rotate 360 degrees would be interesting. Players who use joysticks would have a blast with that.

I want to wake up and find this has all been a bad dream, and Urbie is actually in MWO.

So, I was messing around with MegaMek last night and put 4 AC/20 Urbies up against an Atlas D on a city map and it was an epic battle! The atlas pushed in towards the center of the map trying to use the sight lines and comparatively open area to get a bead on the little jumping trashcans before they could sawrm it. Some lucky fire stripped the meager armor off one of the urbies and managed to knock him down and crit one of his hip actuators. As the Atlas moved in to finsh off the wounded mech, the others flew in from behind buildings and trees to get as many shots into the Atlases rear armor as they could. Unfortunately, the pilots were not consumate jump snipers and only half of them connected with the almighty AC/20. Meanwhile, the atlas finished off its first victim and put a medium laser into another Urbie, removing what little armor it had from one of the side torsos. The next few rounds were a furious battle with the urbies jumping into as much cover as they could find when they lost initiative, and running out to pick at the sides and back of the Atlas when they had the drop on him. Unfortunately, the superior armor of the atlas was starting to show as another Urbie was dropped to AC fire and a third had damaged actuators in one leg, while the Atlas, although beaten, still had armor on almost every section except a single side torso.

In what was to be the final turn of the game, the Atlas closed in on the poor urbanmech with the wounded leg and used it's near-immobility to dump lasers, SRM's and AC fire into it leaving the mech a smoking pile of ruin. However, his focus on a single target left the other remaining mech, the very last Urbie, free to lob an AC/20 round straight through his cockpit and put the Atlas down for good! Wounded, and with three of his lance mates dead, the final Urbie pilot stood triumphant over the smoking crater in the deaths-head mask of the Atlas...and smiled.

Atlas AS7-D $9.4 mil
4x UM-R60L UrbanMechs $6.3Mil

Saving of $3.1

Or you can get six UrbanMech UM-R60L for $9.4 Mil

Edit:

And By buying six of them if one is blown up think of all the spare parts you now have for the other ones that are left.

I just keep thinking of something the size of a Commando with jump jets rocking an AC20 and not being a troll build that takes something away from what that mech is supposed to do (like scout). That just sounds like it would be relatively hard to hit and pack a real nasty punch.

The Urbanmech is a victim of its own success, just like a good worker that will never get promoted because his boss relies on him too much...

Think about it. If they did actually release the Urbanmech, the outcry for its implementation would quickly subside from the forums, especially as they would be in game playing, and the forums would quickly turn to a ghost town. PGI cannot have that happen, so therefore they are forced to keep Urbie in his cubicle... See what you guys did? ...SMH...

So, they are keeping the Urbie as hostage?
