Do we know yet if PGI has received enough orders for the Urbie to actually inject them into the game? (I haven't been on the forums much lately, so please forgive me if this has already been answered)

Well you can please some of the people some of the time but not all of them all of the time. Some might like the new updated look (it fits in with the rest of the updated mechs' looks) and some might actually not like the 'original' design. PGI has to decide if they want to cater to the old school guys who want an original urbie (and thus have one sore thumb design) or newer players who does not necessarily get the old design but still want to play with a light mech that has special rules and quirks allowing small engines and big guns (And thus preserving a consistent design. As a side note I do not think anyone here can make assertions as to what camp has the most members ;)

It is possible they can try and make the design still be old school but with enough new design elements to fit in with their current line up of mechs and is probably something they should strive for. However where that middle point is is quite literally different for each person. If they do make changes to make the urbie design more old school people should recognize they they are indeed trying to cater for them while understanding that they have certain design philosophies they need to follow for consistency.

That said I think they'll score extra points (and collectors orders) if the unique geo is a lot more trashcan design ;)
yah very true i my self like both and as to the witch camp has more ppl its imposable to tell for sure

I think Crusader might get you close if you use the right colors. As for the design....it's ok. Not great but ok. I do think it could be a bit thicker in the torso and more rounded on the top, to keep the classic design. Then again, the Centurion doesn't look much like the original at all, nor does the Wolverine or Phoenix Hawk....and the Battlemaster? Please.
actually most of the phoenix pack mechs are closer rather then farther from there original look the block head and round facer and shadow hawk are all pretty close but yes they did take liberty's with the big foot as to the cent i think its not to far off a little squatter and squarer but pretty much a cent

They have not begun modeling them. That is what this "check" is for - to see if it is worth putting the modeling work in.

Russ' last twitter post said that they are very close (also, this is not to inject them into the game. This is to actually start working on them. Injecting them means they've already built them, and worked them out ... etc. He'll let us know on Monday. However, there is a giveaway going on right now (ends on Tuesday the 27th), once that is done, there will be another surge in Urbie purchases.

Awesome! Let's just say this is one time I am hoping I do not get a refund.

Well, was going to look at getting a Collector's Urbanmech package, but realized funds are not going to be there even for a basic package before the end of the month (yay for being disabled). So, entered the Urbanmech giveaway drawing with fingers crossed. If it doesn't happen, maybe I'll still be able to get the thing in time, we'll see.

Either way, I'm excited to see the Urbanmech coming to MWO. It will be nice to have an Inner Sphere light (along with the Panther) that will be more focused on firepower than it is on speed.

I wonder what the actual hero variant is going to be . . . or for that matter . . . what they decide on for the rest of the quirks.

As a side note, although I really do like the current standing concept art for in-game modeling . . . I am more partial to the tweaks that Bishop Steiner made, and hopefully we do see a bit of rescaling.

UrbanMech should still be up for sale after the Jan 31 date, provided the order quota is met by Jan 31. Was at 75% on going into the weekeend. You just will miss the pre-order bonuses after Jan 31st.

Not sure about the hero version might be a bit off for that one as I'm sure they have a number of mechs in the pipeline already.

Actually it's a lot higher than 75% right now. Russ's last post said it was really close to being done. I expect it to be wrapped up and finished once the giveaway is done on the 27th.

Why a 'Mech...if they got the 360 rotation down...why not tanks?

Maybe if they make the tech for Urbie it will be easier to add Tanks in

This game will be focused on mech only combat.

Tanks will be nothing but an ai in MW: O at the very least.

I hope they dont april-fooled me in January, cuase i paid a basic pack just for the mech to be released... Well, and for the mech module, that is probably the most worthy item of the pack, "360º target retention"... ;) :D

I heard they're blowing lore out of the water and making it the first 130-ton mech AND the first with rear-facing weapons.

How's that for an early April-fools?
