No, I didn't say teamwork is OP in a team based game.

We all know teamwork has advantages.

We all know those advantages are a force multiplier. Just a simple example is focus fire. Lance leader nominates a target, everyone hits it. PUG's don't have that advantage.

If you want to use the football analogy lets use it properly. Put your team of players that have practiced together (team A) against an equally skilled team of players that have never met each other (team :).

I guarantee you that the first pass team B makes is less likely to hit its target and it's 2nd and 10.

Now take that analogy across to MW:O and that missed down is a casuality, and the snowball starts rolling (cause there is no 2nd down for that guy who just died) and team A romps home.

If you're calling me out as "ridiculous thinking" I can say exactly the same. It befuddles me why some players want to play in an environment where they have advantages. Doesn't anyone enjoy a challenge anymore? Or is it only the PUG's who should have the mountain to climb?

You can argue it's supposed to be a team based game and it is, just not the teams of 5 - 11 that you want it to be. So why play it? Rightly or wrongly PGI have made this accommodation to teams of 4 or less. That is the game.

Your argument is basically join a team if you want to play, this game is not for you if you can't be bothered joining a team. Because 5 - 11 is what it should be and what we are going to force it to be with or without your support.

What I can't understand is why anyone would show up for a social game of football with 15 players when the other team has only 11 and then say HEY, you could have brought more players if you wanted, its just for fun. Wise heads might prevail and the game becomes 13 vs 13 but in this instance, the 15 side is screaming "noooooooooooooo, we want to play with our freinds".

Of course teamwork has advantages. That's why every team game (virtual or real) and I do mean EVERY, stresses the importance of teamwork.

Uhm no, now you're completely misrepresenting everything I've ever said. I have NEVER said "if you want to play the game, join a team" ever
I've said that we want to be allowed to do so just the same as everyone else who plays the game. period. nothing else

Oddly enough the ones who ARE saying "play my way or don't play" are the ones wanting group limits....

What I can't understand is why anyone would show up for a social game of football, play as complete individuals as opposed to using teamwork, and then blaming the other team because they DID use teamwork. See how that works?

You have people coming to a TEAM BASED game, wanting to run around like rambo because they have that "elite" 5.0 kdr in other shooters like BF and CoD and then complain that they can't do that in this particular game. You have people who drop as a solo player in a team based game and then complain that they have to use teamwork with the 11 other guys on their team in order to be successful on a regular basis.
You have players who come to a 12v12 PvP game that requires a myriad of builds and loadouts to support one another and then complain that their "elite" builds and skills didn't single-handedly win the game.
You have people who come to said game and refuse to work with their team and then complain when they lose to a team that DOES work together.

I'll give you the perfect example.
"Group limits are good because they'll stop or severly mitigate roflstomps"
When were group limits introduced? It's been about a year now? Just how many people have stopped complaining about roflstomps since group limits were put into place?
How have group limits enhanced the game?
How have group limits stopped new players from getting stomped?
How have group limits slowed the number of "I got roflstomped" threads?

And this is the problem, you think you know better than PGI and therefore feel like their rules need not apply. Make no mistake, 4 is not an arbitrary number in a rule set that allows up to 12, 4 is the maximum allowed by the ruleset. You are not a special snowflake and PGI is not just a bunch of downers who are around to impose silly unjustified and unauthoritative limitations on you. As far as you are concerned, if PGI says 4 is the limit, then the limit is 4 and you shouldn't even try to bypass that.

By all means 4 is an arbitrary number. There is no justification for it apart from "in lore Inner Sphere armies use lances, which are 4 battlemechs". Where does the magic number 4 in lore come from? It's a random number generated by BT's creators. Hence, arbitrary.

There are no metrics to suggest that 4 is the optimal number of players to allow in a PUG match.

The fact that PGI intentionally reduced max pug-queue group size to 4 from a previously larger number to prevent VOIP-equipped teams from stomping pugs is an implied condemnation of teams larger than 4 in the pug queue. Sync-dropping to achieve more than 4 people teamed in a drop is deliberately manipulating game systems to achieve a personal gameplay advantage - a textbook definition of cheating. You can give all the reasons you want about friends, but that doesn't change anything, that's only your justification for bypassing game systems.

Again, show me where dropping as a solo player at the same time to maybe randomly get thrown into a game with others in my unit is cheating.

I don't see anywhere where myself or Road has said solo players should go away. The ONLY thing we've said is that we want to play with our buddies in CW. That's it. Several people ahve attempted to turn that into evil roflstomping, hating pugs, etc.

whatever, that's not what we want nor is it what we're asking for. WE aren't the ones suggesting it's ok to eliminate the game play of a certain group. YOU are.

84% percent of players drop solo. They don't need you.

I didn't say I wanted to eliminate team play that doesn't violate the intentions of the systems created by the devs. Team play is healthy and fun. Intentionally hurting someone else's gameplay to do so is not fun and not OK, there is a difference. You don't hate pugs, you just don't care about them enough to consider the impact of your selfish behavior. Sort of like my putting up a shooting range near a cattle field and not creating a berm to catch the bullets after they pass through the targets... what do I care if some cows die, I'm having my fun. Don't try to tell me not to, it's my play style. I don't hate cows, I just want to shoot my targets.

See?

Bwahahahahaha!!!
Ok, let me know how that first statement works for you. The sad thing is the only ones saying "go away" are you and those that want to blame premades for their piss poor play.
Take a look at the new "be featured" thread.
How many solo players do you see dropping in there and supporting the community?
How many groups do you see doing it?
Which has a bigger showing?

You're either being argumentative or ignorant (please note, ignorant just means you're poorly informed) about groups and MMOs. Organized groups and clans drive the money more than solos and casuals. They are the ones that invest time and money into websites, TS servers, promoting, recruiting, etc. They're also the ones that typically buy stuff like the gold mechs and mech packs.
That's not to say solos don't contribute but generally groups provide a steadier and larger monetary support. Once again, the ones saying "you don't matter" are you and the ones who don't like groups. Those that drop in groups aren't saying anything of the sort (with the exception of a few dbags)

Even though you can play the game and have the game experience you want under Premium matches, thats not enough. You want the in game rewards and you're going to get them by gaming the system and screwing over the PUG's experieince that PGI are trying to enhance.

nuh uh
nope
wrong
we CAN'T play the game under premium matches, THAT'S the problem
WE CAN'T earn exp
cbills
master mechs
advance piloting skills
resupply consumables
participate in CW

So please show me where we can play under premium and that's not enough

PGI quite clearly said that according to thier metrics / stats, they think capping the team at 4 man max is in the interest of game balance.

What metrics do you have that would counter their view?

Also, my stance on 4 as an abitrary number comes from the launch module update, which contains this:

Quote

Instead of just picking arbitrary numbers to limit group sizes, we decided to stick with lore and allow players to form a lance. Ideally we would have stuck with a 3-man group to make the match maker’s job a little easier with the 3/3/3/3 team structure but BattleTech™ has always been about the lance.

So it's arbitrary.

WE CAN'T earn exp - reward from playing
cbills - reward from playing
master mechs - reward from playing
advance piloting skills - reward form playing
resupply consumables - C-Bills and also not a requirement to play
participate in CW - Unfounded, CW details have not been communicated

So what I said was that you can play the game (and indeed you can) but you want rewards that are currently only available in the small group / PUG queue where games are envisaged to be balanced by capping teams at 4 max and only one team.

Oh joy, so in order to purchase anything, we have to go drop 100 times with the lowest common denominator, and watch the tragically derpy zerg into the PUGZAPPER in order to have the same level of enjoyment that the drool on the joystick underhive get to enjoy just because they figured out how to download the game.

And that's for EVERY time we use an consumable.

But y'all can drop arty on your own team all day long, say oops, and get rewarded just for showing up.

Yeah, that seems fair.

Meanwhile we're struggling to keep our communities together, paying for websites and TeamSpeak server AND get to pay for that privilege too.

AWESOMESAUCE!

i think you misunderstand, its common. The power of argument is to get someone who generally disagrees with your view to at least if not take the same stance or at least acknowledge it. Please, i would never say anything so idiotic. The only people who agree are those who want the same thing. For example, If Roadbeer/sandpit can get Craig to hope over to their side of the fence about the issue then they have made ground. Unless you use the i dont care and it's just an opinion/everyone is entitled to their opinion route. So far they have not convinced anyone that their solutions and or ideas of improvement are they way to go/ EXCEPT FOR THE PEOPLE WHO WANT THE SAME THING. Do you see where im getting at? so i think you face-palmed yourself.
