None of those except one of the Shadowhawks piqued my interest. Don't play assaults, don't need a 65 tonner that isn't a Catapult or Jager, and Locusts are adorable but crap.

EDIT: I would try a Dragon with ECM despite its being a Dragon.

pretty much my thoughts, exactly. I do like Battlemasters, but neither of those really do anything for me. the LCT-1M MIGHT be cute to run.

That Shadow Hawk sounds delicious. 3 ML, 1 UAC/5, 3 SSRM2. Mmmmm.

I think it was to overlook the need to put in a clause for non-lower-arm mechs with functioning lower arms.

After all, that same TRO says it doesn't have a hand actuator -- take a look at it again.
Thus either way the same number of slots are free -- there.
Various build sheets say it has the hand actuator (left arm) but not the lower arm actuator (right arm).
Both have identical free slots.
It's also the only visual difference between the two and would add both character and a whole new use for Dragons.

Also the original Dragons in MWO even with the bicep... didn't have a lower arm actuator. I'm pretty sure they used stat sheets before they made it.

my bad meant to say lower arm actuator.

You did. As in the Dragon has a lower arm actuator in the right arm, correct?
The TRO has a lower arm actuator (right arm; gun arm). But I'm also saying that same TRO you're looking at also says there is no hand actuator...when the art clearly has a hand.
The result is the exact same number of free slots... as it having no right-side lower arm actuator and a left hand actuator as it is on many newer spreadsheets released later.

So either way it works out. The difference is just the newer spreadsheets version separates it from the Grand Dragon (no lower arm actuator and left hand actuator is in place)... where the TRO version gives it a Ghost Hand with no actuator.

And comparing both to what we have now, we lost a free slot no matter which way is right or wrong. Why? Because PGI has put both the lower arm actuator and the hand actuator in.

What I was saying is if we go with the newer battlesheets for it which are truer to the art, we could have two Dragons the cool one (the real regular Dragon) and the not so cool one (the Grand Dragon). :)

I am definitely going to pickup the Locusts, they cost next to nothing and I already have the necessary engines from the other three.

Where did this knowledge come from? I'm asking because I see nothing on the twitters. Is there a reddit statement? I'm kinda curious since on Sarna I'm not seeing such evidence of some of those hardpoints.

back on page 2 is some plaintext patch notes from reddit. either some joker has gone crazy in depth to prank us, or they are legit.

Basically my sentiments exactly. I might get some use out of the Shadow Hawk-2D, but the rest is absolutely meh.

Was hoping for more variants of the other chassis (Cicada-3F anyone?) but I guess that will have to either wait or never happen at all.

the only thing i got from that patch leak was "ooooh more Locusts!"

considering i had trouble fitting 5 energy weapons heat efficently on the 3M cramming another one on and not having it be 6SLs and be able to maintain the same speeds a Locusts need could be interesting to figure out

i do like the 1M though. always felt the 3S neeeded one more energy slot and never ran the 4 missiles with it anyway.

maybe i'll look into the 3 energy/3 missile hawk even though generally hawks and i don't get along much.

would be nice if, as someone posted earlier. they start filling in additional varients for the mechs that only have 3 varients other than heroes

Its going to be variants of the mechs from phoenix pack they haven't managed to make because they were on crunch time.

Yep that is correct!
Well thats what PGI mentioned, but folks only read a few words of a sentence and get A.D.D. starting to branch off on "what I want. . ."

Locust
Shadowhawk
Wolverine
Griffin
Thunderbolt
Battlemaster

These are the extra variants! I will bet 1 variant of each.

the battlemaster 3S probably got cut since its entirely pointless

the 1S is outright better with 4 missile and 4 energy

No, they really are not.

About the only use for 4 missiles is LRMboating. I suppose if you consider that better, then fine. On the other hand, for SRMs, you now have a hunch, and like the Hunchback, pop goes the torso. So for any decent crawling design, the torso mount launchers are ignored anyhow. Especially since the BLR tanks with XL engines so well.

The biggest downside to the 3S is that it only has the one arm mount launcher. What I see is mech using a single LRM15 or 20 in the RA, and if a ranged build, 2 PPC with 4 mediums, if an in fighter, 4 mplasers and 2 heavy energy of choice.

I was surprised by how little love the Thunderbolt gets, but it isn't a great mech, just average. Too wide probably.

This new T-bolt variant didn't look that amazing to me. I see it has balistics like the normal T-bolt, and just moves the missile launcher to the left torso.

Then I noticed it has Dual AMS. That I didn't see the first time. It might actually be worth getting now.

This is of course based on that Reddit list, which may or may not be true, but we'll go with it until proven otherwise.

I would consider the BattleMaster that is an upgraded 1G, if it wasn't for 3/3/3/3 comeing two weeks after. Which, makes me not want to use an Assault Mech. Because, I do worse with them over Heavy and Medium Mechs. I do better with Medium and Heavy Mechs, because they are smaller and more agile.
