I'm just happy to see the arrival of Clan Mechs. But I'm also happy that they won't completely dominate Inner Sphere Mechs per se. I want the best of both worlds.

Actually i think they are taking the worst of both or, at least, they are making both Battlemechs and Omnimechs wrong. The former are too buffed (compared to how it all worked in lore) and the latter too nerfed (again compared to how they are supposed to work). .. I realize it may be necessary if they cannot find any better solution..

And as some have mentioned, the old legs were perhaps a bit TOO thin to hold up ~75 tons of 'Mech.
Yeah... what a lot of people seem to forget is that
- The Mad Cat masses at 75 metric tons - equal to 75000 kg or 165346.69 lbs, and roughly 25% heavier than the M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank (which masses at 61.3 metric tons).
- The legs of the Mad Cat must believably house the actuators needed to move 75000 kg of 'Mech at 81 kph (50.33 mph), house the structure needed to survive doing so for extended periods, and carry enough armor to survive multiple impacts from 150+ mm HEAP cannon shells (e.g. AC/20s).

Horrible?
Be REALLY careful with your answer. You might lost your credibility...
i was being sarcastic highlighting why somepeople think it's alright to mock makebeleieve designs in the futile attempt to chase the "realistic" design. just like alchamists you know nothing of how it could be possible whilst being fixated on how it might work. the tie fighter is a great imaginative design, so what if it bends the laws of physics and how it works, that what's great about sci fi products, you can advance into great asthetics whilst dispencing with some of that annoying reality limitations. especially important if you have no idea how it could be implementated in the real world.

the madcat is the same, it deserves some leeway for being a fictional stompy bot. let it look great while it defies mechanical understanding for our 21st centurary minds, stop enforcing ugliness cause you think it might work or be beleivable in the real world. like the maths covers the lot... over a scifi design. maybe we should have 5000M range ac's as well while we're at it. it's a nonsense argument to make in this fictional universe and we're making things uglier for it! i can understand the meta humpers wanting thier "most practical for MWO" arguments but to be more believable??? but a 75ton 13 M tall mobile gun array?

Or you can have an enormous centre torso and complain after it gets cored too easily, which no doubt you would.
But since we're on the topic of realism, how about we factor in the prospect of there being copyright concerns with the original model. Now sit back down and accept the new model quietly and be grateful you'll be getting it at all.

Be glad we have the models we have, they are good. How about in exchange we trash PGI about being behind schedule in development of features? At least there we have some solid ground.

Over two years since I signed up, and all we still have is a BETA game engine with Mech-Death-Match.
WHERE IS THE GAME WE WERE PROMISED? I could play that game with just the Hunchback, rather than have this crap with a zillion mechs.
I went back the other day, to see what had changed since last time (like six months ago)
But I was NOT surprised to see that basically NOTHING HAS CHANGED.
When the game started, it was like a flashback. A blast from the past. Forest colony TDM with silly bases. JUST LIKE MY VERY FIRST TIME, IN CLOSED BETA.
Same map - same game mode - same mechs, same mechanics.
This game is going down the tubes and I can not be bothered to care about it anymore. Beefy Timbylegs or not.
It is sad really.
They had it all served on a dinner plate for them. They almost COULD NOT screw up.
But somehow they did.
Amazing

P.S. That will lower the GM and give much more realistic view of stability .
P.S.S. When standing its need to look squatting , but when its running the legs are a bit stretched .

This is more like what I was expecting.
I was immediately disappointed when I saw the legs in the screenshots. They don't need to be stick thin like MW2, but the angle is too high (the 'Mech sits upright) and it just doesn't look as dangerous (read=badass). Crossing my fingers for some adjustments before release.

Actually, several of the prominent running birds are rather upright & relatively straight-legged when they're standing, as well as when they're walking or running, as opposed to the "squatty-run" people seem to be asking for.

Not saying I dislike the current legs btw. Just trying to add to the discussion.
(BTW, I know that birds and timberwolves have one more joint at the hip, so if you want we can say that the birds have three leg joints including the hip and timberwolves two.)

Easier to say that the birds are true digitigrades, while the Mad Cat is a plantigrade with back-canted knees (as opposed to the humanoid 'Mechs with their forward-canted knee plantigrade design).
Imagine a human walking backwards; this is technically closer to the Mad Cat than the birds.
Also, it should be noted that each of the Catapult, Cataphract, and Stalker are also relatively upright/straight-legged versus what is being asked of the Mad Cat.
EDIT: The Raven also stands fairly upright.
