Ahhh, yes. VoIP is finally coming. A standard in online gaming since 2005, and only about 1 year after initial "launch" are they announcing to be working on it!
I for one cannot wait to see how much a of a failure VoIP will finally be two years from now when finally makes it in game and its "working as intended"
Let's be clear about what Russ stated, it was, specifically, "...seriously considering...", that means they ARE NOT actually working on it. It means they are "possibly" researching it and trying to figure out what they want to do.
If this is a properly "PM'd" product they aren't even at the 'Gathering Requirements Stage' of the process yet.
Which means if they decide that "YES - We will add fully integrated, common VOIP", you're probably looking at a minimum of 6 months FROM THAT POINT before there'll be even a potential for a release, but I'd guess (from what little I know about software development, project management, and VOIP integration) it'd be closer to 18 months, depending on how many resources PGI was willing to throw at it.
This means that if the decision is made TODAY, "Yes - We will add fully integrated, common VOIP", you're probably not going to see anything until closer to 2016.
One thing PGI needs to get better at is managing expectations.
