This is very nice. That TDR variant was present in the leaked info and I was very upset that it wasn't present in the patch. A very potent variant and now I get it for free, yeay!

PS. If only it had JJ's, it would be a solid competitor to the CTF-3D. Unfortunately not, 3D is still the only heavy to ever use in serious battles.

Hmm....odd, if so, why the devs announce as a unreleased Phoenix Mech. Why not just say a unreleased variant of the t-bolt /w free garage. They make this version like it has the 30% booster /w color. Sorry, seems to me more words than needed.

I understand as marketing schemes to get people to play to get a free mech and garage, but honestly, the could just stated "unreleased" standard of t-bolt from Phoenix package and not with missing leading words, he difference between the one with the 30% booster and the standards. Like they announced the win a champion mech /w free garage is exactly we got with exact wording.

PS. Still will go for the free t-bolt /w garage , just to get he necessary XP unlock, then probably sell it, considering other t-bolt can be config almost te sam way as the unreleased variant.

A mech is as good as their pilot.

Great event - drum up some more interest for the remaining Phoenix versions, create a relatively easy competition for players to get a free mech - makes sense to me!

This is also timed nicely with the coming 3-3-3-3 limit, so most people will at least have something other than an assault mech lying around in their mechbays, lol.

But if the same pilot gets more results with mech A than mech B, what can you deduct? Btw, just yesterday we had two 12v12-battles against quite possibly the best team this game has to offer. Lost one, won the other. Only heavies used were 3D's. As is the matter in every 12v12 battle every day by any team. So I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to say by that useless piece of philosophy.

Your first sentence was all you had to say. And the philosophy you're referring to is completely true, it may not really be a counter to your point, but it's far from useless.

However, let's not look a free Mech in the mouth - thank you PGI!

Does this mean on the full launch of star citizen we are all getting free founders packs, phoenix mechs and a gold clan mech?

Thank you very much for the Thunderbolt and bay PGI. I enjoy the TDRs and am looking forward to this variant.

Just like many others that have posted here, things like this make me feel less reluctant to spend money playing this game

Based on Sarna.net 9S has 6E 1M 2B hardpoints. Equipped weapons will be an ER PPC, 3 MLs, 2 Flms, 1SRM6 and 1 AMS. No mention of ECM or JJs.

Still waiting on for ECMs on Mediums and Heavies..

There is Cicada 3M already in Medium class. As for Heavy ECM carrier, I would prefer Dragon DRG-1GKDC over any other. Maybe someone can ask Russ in his comfy twitter about ECM heavy?

Sweet... its great to get a new TDR

One Question though is this a solo Challange like the cent or do the 5 wins count when you are in a group?

I just hope it's not a ''MWO server permanently offline'' error

Tbolts ARE phoenix Mechs... Mechs that literally ''rose from the ashes'' after being Uneen for so long.

I can see why someone not versed in the lore might find this confusing. But still, it's a free Heavy Mech. That's pretty cool.

So, um, did they fix the bug where despite you've mastered 3 variants, you need to have 3 in your mechlab to advance?
Going to be kinda bummed if I have to buy a Tbolt to master this one.

Thanks PGI for the Free Thunderbolt and bay. Thunderbolt's are part of my arsenal already, so having one more of these bad boys will just be even badder! Can't wait!

9S right?

  • TDR-9S Based on the older 5SS model, the 9S is built with off the shelf structural components and armor. The 'Mech is armed with an ER PPC for its primary long-range firepower. This is supported at closer ranges by an SRM-6 launcher and three Medium Lasers. Finally, the Mech carries an Anti-Missile System for missile protection and two Machine Guns and a pair of Flamers for anti-infantry use. BV (1.0) = 1,244, BV (2.0) = 1,494[18]
That's a little Dakka!
