Free mech and mech bay, YES PLEASE!!

I love my TDR-5S with 2x ALRM15s 4x ML and 2x MGs as an all round support much but the 9S with say 6x MLs, 2x AC5s with 4x tons of ammo, STD 270 Engine, 4x external DHS for a total of 14, max speed of 74 KPH with speed tweak, and near max armor sounds like one mean machine to me.

Hero mechs on sale, giving away free stuff, and doubling the GXP conversion rate...would this be further proof that PGI is grasping at retaining a shrinking player base? That would be my supposition. Too little too late PGI, you've already turned off 50% of the folks on my friends list. And let's not even bring up extended matchmaking waits/or match fails.

Well it's working, on me anyway. I was ready to quit this for a month or so, but I can't resist a free mech in a game where they costs 15+ dollars.

My supposition is they are just giving away free stuff and great deals on premium content. It is all marketing at the end of the day.

For the new players, this is great. Even us that have been at this since 2012 a new mech to play with is always interesting. This gives players a way to test new builds, weight classes and maybe play styles. The new players it is a heavy mech that they would have to grind for a over a week or two depending on how many games they play.

More interest or even renewed interest is being developed. Some players that are taking a break from the game may come back for a weekend here or there, and see some changes, like the LRMs. Last weekend I had one game where a player asked what has changed in 6 months.

Don't know if you got answered, but... Nope.

It's a 9S Thunderbolt. Twin AMS. 2 ballistic.. Shoulder cannons (good spot to shove PPCs on for hill humping if that's your thing).
