I finally get it. I finally get why you keep refering to yourself in 3rd person and bringing up the fact that you are the OP. I think most of us understand the slightly negative connotation associated with OP's. Dude there's better ways of coming out, support groups and stuff of the like. You should try one of those instead of dropping subtle hints on an online gaming forum.

Introduction of Artemis brought another lrm reign.
Introduction of ECM removed Lrms as viable option. Reign of the ECM raven began streak cat disappeared in 1 night and everyone rejoiced.
ECM remains the best 1.5 tons in the game forever despite many proposed fixes.
Introduction of the new fast spider prompted changes to hit registration.
PPC's have new hit registration issues. Projectile speed doubled, heat was lowered.
PPC's registration fixed the adjusted weapon values left as they are. Making it OP.
Highlander released. First JJ Assault mech makes name for itself as a JJ sniper.---------this is all nice and all but what is it telling me. Its not really getting into his thoughts, his reactions, their impact on his game play, how he handled it. take the sentence Highlander Released. All he gives me is a description of the mech............okay what did that do for you? your teamates? people you talked to. How did it change the game for you and if i didnt do any of those, just leave it out. We all know those things, but there is nothing that is gonna engage me into reading that. There is nothing that is gonna let me see the game through his eyes.

I can understand those things, but i just dont want that here. It tends to derail from the OP and what this was meant to be. You guys get on me for deleting the post but if somebody logs in here at page 14 and sees 2 pages worth of side conversation he/she might be inclined to join the conversation instead of taking notice of the meaning of the thread. Someone advised me how to go about that but i feel as if i shouldn't have to remind anyone. i saw a lot of nitpicking and under impressive analysis into my words. A game most seem to be able to play well.Now that i have explained in detail my OP there can be no misunderstanding. you know now exactly what i meant. by each sentence. You want an honest opinion about where we are at? Well don’t show bias by deleting , I may have jumbled or missed points, screwed grammer through haste cause its uber long but that is the fairly rough memories of the honest average joe recollection 2011 to 2014 for the MWO experience.

2010-11 The pitch was for the first time bring the most accurate representation of battletech to the fore with the mechwarrior franchise. this time focussing on the political and territorial struggles of the innersphere. nobody knew whom piranha was but after the MW5 with Jorden weisman fell through and an alternative showed up there was optimism all round that at last a stable and modern league play would be at a huge old fanbase’s fingertips. the glory of an overarching economy towards an inventory of mechs, ships and vehicles in the persistent territorial struggle of factions in the innersphere.

There would be 4 pillars of gamedesign, one would focus on a sim like experience through the pilot only to be the main gameplay brining back skill to a FPS. Two; there would be roles for all mechs with a system that helps you focus on a desired role and no class of mech would be a dominant go to force. Three; community warfare where everyone has a say in a territorial struggle and especially merc corps will be able to have it’s own identity through customising it’s visual appearance bid for occupation fights {sounds like eve} and four was information warfare where team play and the components to gain knowledge to be used against your eneimies is paramount to success. All walks of MW and BT fans from channers, goons to fan podcasts no guts no galaxy and guilds could at last enjoy a detailed and immersive version of mechwarrior after microsft abandoned it for practically a decade for pc mecha fans. Mechwarrior online here we come! Even Before access so many questions were asked about how to play and use the game guild-wise. So many questions I can’t track down and list but still today we don’t have the answers.

the fun times ahead bit...

We started with a few mech designs, few maps, primitive ingame interface with an ugly but usable UI. features and componants glitch but enough there to show potential. Armour was doubled from the original values to make time to kill drag out appropriately however questionable was the lack of radar and hud factionality compared to ten year old MW instalments, a heat threashold and customisation which was sketchy for PVP but usable in its infancy and of course the main features of faction warfare role warfare and such was to be defined with the coming soon after open beta community warfare. A little bare but this was our favourite franchise and it really looked like a strong return, the art was gorgeous and we’re still in beta it looked so sweet. People were happy to get in on the action from 30-$120 to gain access to a beta key. So many cashed in to 5 mill and the proclamation of greatest kickstarter was made, a few months before SC took the crown. With everyone in mechanics were explored and the potential looked better than ever. Then signs of the mechanics being typical of an alpha was showing, the knockdowns cancelation {still in the works for whenever} and the work to defeat many bugs was long and painfull, the overall condition was not worthy of open beta. However the reality of what needed to happen started sinking into the devs as more monerterising was made after the most succesfull game kickstarter was made to keep going.

It would be the only cash in game mech the devs assured us, whilst taking a mech design away only to bring it back for money, the yen lo wang for CN9-AH appeared and the first seeds of doubt of the projects intentions and the devs capabilities were sewn. The first founders a few at a time left. Still the timeline was on track but we were seeing the last of the innersphere news updates. It was still acceptable, cockpit trinkets you didn’t really need and heros were to be the only cash mech in game, still some people wanted resources to make more maps and bigger ones. The devs have to eat right? Keep the project going, but they were going for open beta too soon for the game quality but just intime for a greater net of players than the founders to start buying hero mechs etc. the pitch was 4 pillars of game design, and already it was looking shakey, this was the road through 2012…

the first of mistakes, design neglagence bit...

The customisation was starting the rear its flaws as a few more mechs became available and people had figured out game breaking combinations. These are; synergy boating, pinpoint damage for lowest heat cooldown time and an armour by manuverability ratio. Your mech tops all of this then its god. fair enough strategy but with little other gods counter options these designs began to overly dominate all levels of play unsubtle for an PVP enviroment. The swayback and awesome were the first to achieve something like this {discounting dragons as the best at using knockdowns} mounting much speed and multiple laser hardpoints. Swift nerfs came, cutting engines and even hardpoints back but then the devs started to consider this style of solution to solve any problem.

The role warfare mech levelling tree was remaining untouched instead “quirks” or little ability buffs/nerfs were coming to the table. The gauss cat was one that stuffed 2 gauss in ST’s, in SHS days no other system could out do the combo breaker described above, even hitboxes were negated as the original design was still used, no huge side barrels to shoot. The problem was clearly that such guns shouldn’t be capable of being fitted to such a mech, we all knew the jager was coming and that would be the mech to go to but instead the weapon simply received a nerf. The customisation tweaking would be too much effort and didn’t suit the short sight principle the game has always been built upon. It wasn’t scrutinised that the gauss received an destruction nerf as it was sighted as canon and was fitting the earlier principles of the game designs intentions, the problem however is that it still left a system in place that gave certain mechs the ability to combo break against many others…

the consequences of neglect bit...

The biggest problems remaining overall however was engine/server performance and code. This was mostly lag, ping and other latency issues which made some weapons broken, ppcs were miss timed and miss fired so it was hard to aim if at all with them. there was also the compounding of DHS introduction to the heat threashold algorithm which had to be toned down right out the door, much complaints about 1.8-1.4 DHS were made. The devs made up the 2 second jenner rear torso atlas destruction, later to be proven more like double the time but from this it was clear that there was a fundamental system in place for things like customisation and the heat threashold sytem, and the devs could see it was flawed so DHS got a value change, the devs didn’t want nor ever will touch these systems again.

so due to the flawed customisation rules for how extras heatsink capacity could be added to engines without the loss of crit slots {3 slots over a mech reduced to 1 per engine heatsink} made the tonnage comparison for using SHS a no brainer, an exponential gain for DHS. Then you get more save slots in engines as well as faster twist movement the larger your engine is which makes the efficiencies gain even more. heat containment grew exponentially on top of an manuvering advantage for not a great deal comparatively to pay for tonnage wise. Then levelling up your mech provided doubling the efficiency figures, another exponential gain. this was the day stock mechs and SHS died.

These flaws were becoming more obvious and more people began exploiting them as the protest to not go open beta was only a short delay and many people came to not test a beta but to win a game. The lag and easiest unbroken weapons became a flood, lagging medium laser boat jenners became a bane and were rounded up by streak cats as the only counter not to the mechs but the hit registration which proved usefull as an point anywhere all CT destruction boat. This was the first time the playerbase was coming together as a disappointed force demanding things needed to change, although pitched before more debates were struck about the most important things, tutorials, lobbies, in game communication and the main features of community warfare. In the meantime More buffing and nerfing occurred as the network situation, one of the main causes was unable to be a short term fix so crazy balance was compounded more with some weapons being fixed but missiles also being broken needlessly many times over. the pointless splash damage which fudged the damage distribution no matter what they did was all conducted whilst the network code was in bad shape.

the first big design mistake bit...

This struggle coincided with the finale of 2012, MM would change from classes to ELO and groups were changed down to 4mans. The devs were slowly understanding synergy but were not willing to look at the core just shuffle the deckchairs. It was commented by a dev that the management of this game was to be an “minimally viable product” so already we were seeing designs grow stagnant and cutbacks being made whilst waiting for development, bug kills, to come along. Then there was the sudden and mysterious end of MWLL {theres still contention whether it was an enforced shutdown or not} and the first whacko adaption to MWO the ECM. So that’s where development was going, whether it’s description was taken out of context or again a system’s function involving radar was built like the heat threshold and customisation was a one time never to be reviewed or fixed system we received an OP weapon. Much protest was made about the jenner receiving one as this mech’s lag and use of streaks would’ve made it unstoppable, the devs knew this too so the little known raven and for no reason an atlas variant were the only ones to get ecm. What it did was make mechs invisible to radar as a bubble, the only counter was another ecm and all lockons were dead.

Team chats were cut as well as radar if an enemy ecm was close to you, it conveniently stoped lrm wars but gave exclusive access to skilless CT destroying SSRMs on a mech which could also make some use of lag. The streakcat died and “nevermore” or murder chickens took over. this was the first of the 100+ page complaint threads. This was the start of a tedious nerf buff cycle when really just some missle mechanics and the server network needed fixing. This combined with the sudden axe to MWLL left people thinking that a skeleton crew for a skeleton game was trying to cash in whilst any form of competition would be stopped, the first mass ejection of players started, not a huge deal but then this was where nutters started spamming their hate of the company and bans were being handed out.

the playerbase carries on trying to stay positive about it's fav franchise, into 2013 we go bit...

The early days 2013 the ingame interface got some facelifts, stability slowly improved, maps and their graphic physical shortcomings and hud bugs were being dealt with slowly but surely. Training grounds was delivered and was well received as hopes were that this will become the tutorials arena or something. Demands for bigger maps were met but the state of weapons and mechs then weren’t suitable, cap racing became a common trait. Trying to see a Brightside in a growing list of problems was something being repeated in the forums, whether it was PGI trying hard to collate and tackle what the players were reporting or a way to break up the toxicity the general forums were split into subheading under subheading. Communication {or lack of it} showed it’s ugly head with any form of disappointment receiving arrogant replies, not unusual from player to player but moderators and even devs were giving the overall impression that those whom complained don’t count.

A lot of discontent spiralled to another mile long thread of hate as it was felt alongside censorship, bans and “an act against freedom of speech” the forum change made more people leave to slowly build up their own blogs of discontent else where, later this would spiral into a cacophony of trouble for the franchise anywhere you look on the internet discontent for the management followed. A podcast group “no guts no galaxy” {a quote from battletech} became further enamoured with the duties of promoting the game and the lack of acknowledgement of the situation at hand began their label of being PGI’s fox news. The other problem with the forum change was of course it was a bad way to organise information, many people couldn’t understand where to talk about a subject and many people didn’t bother, only the patch feedback was a sensible source to work from.

the things were still okay dispite everything bit...

All the while though for the game itself HSR was starting to offer relief but it wouldn’t last from patch to patch and in the meantime the ecm functionality didn’t change. The ecm merely got a few things disabled and all the while weapons got buffs { ppc disrupt} and stuff it didn’t deserve to stack the chances of it’s success against ecm {high velocity lower heat} all whilst the core remained flawed and the network was still flimsy. many bugs had to be squashed from the hud, disappearing info rainbow effects for some video cards, Tons of them came went and came again, a few are still around such as a blank template wwwwww hud blinks up just as you overheat and force shutdown. First rumours of a madcat was discovered through the bugs as one time two square hitboxes appeared on the sholders around feburary-march of that year. We’ve yet to see how armour distribution will be for the cat but this year old glitch reveal may give you an idea. A reveal like this was rightly so canned away to the new graveyard of hate threads kaetotae or K-town. It was a sign of unwelcome to some members re-inforcing the misgivings of the forum change but worse was any talk of community warfare for sometime was erased or sent there. CW and it’s development remained silent for months.

It was this time that balance as a whole was no longer about mech construction or role warfare, customisation as generalised hardpoints was here to stay and the mech tree of specialisation didn’t grow in fact the convergence perk is still a useless button on the same system as it was 3 years ago. This was disabled long ago at open beta, the breakdown for easy play had begun. the devs became mere fire spotters on “meta” builds, whack pults and splatcats were the combo breakers as lasers were too hot and not pinpoint fire, gauss were too risky, ppcs were the next power to be reckoned with but balanced by th brawlers and other missiles were screwed by combinations of ecm. However the great balance debate turned on the catapult. Brawlers and 90 alpha strikes were all the hatred and major groups were making every point to nerf this one mech in one way or don’t do it because who knows where it would end. Thus the last of the missiles were nerfed.

the long drag of 2013 bit...

Mechs like the jager were being introduced now, more maps too but QA was deemed to be nonexistent, this mech suffered from badly configured hitboxes {the spider is still contested for this} and it was compounded by the server issues still being bad to worse as HSR wasn’t functioning like we hoped. Dubbed “all cockpit” this was the first mech which had to go back for major hitbox changes, stuff like this would follow other mechs the kintaro, orion and spider. it was at this point past problems compounded by the new ones were really stumping pgi but they soldiered on to do as much as possible. Obvious bugs were being fixed, but performance never would seem to improve no matter how much the graphics were altered or simply degraded, Dx11 although should’ve been implemented by now was deemed to not be suitable {it still hasn’t changed much}.

The community was still intact though via tourneys and basically something to play for whilst waiting for the CW that was, we were told due for realease after falling short of a few due dates by now. There were ideas that to do CW the UI would need to be remade which meant more delays. Then the announcement of unseen phoenix mechs wet the apatite of the fanbois once again. The problems were a mere cloud on the horizion as the proposition of mechs coming back to MW after 15+ years and hints of CW elements such as affiliation and faction loyalty points was yours to purchase with this second backers style pack. There were maps and mechs still coming, more hype about CW on it’s way, we were allowed to discuss it again.

There was lots of arguments made about tutorials and the notion that 3^rd person view could achieve this. The community almost unequivocally condemned the idea time and time again. The reasoning mostly is that it would break the design pillars of the sim-like pilots experience in a mech as mwo was pitched for. it would corrupt information warfare and would go against other founding principles of the design trying to be built as modules and other equipment. Do tutorials instead it should’ve been out by now and at that position in time The devs assured us it was only an idea and wouldn’t be considered. So integrity of the core gameplay was still intact and the game was still on it’s pitched track but It wasn’t all rosey however. being unchecked the ppc for the effectiveness of overcoming the terrible network and being a promoted counter to ecm instead of just fixing ecm now found itself with little opposition and a nerfed movement to the catapult came the use of jump sniping on cataphracts. The 3d became a short time troll mech until tourneys upped the competitive anti and boating this HSR improved and buffs it never deserved ppc lead to hill humping stalkers being a meta followed by the armour+manurvering combo breaker of the highlander joining the phracts as jump snipers.

At this time the majority of the playerbase were becoming angry, poptarting had become the meta play with all other counters either disappearing in bugs and poor network code or nerfed. battlefields were made of lagging lights filling out for hill humpers and poptarts. there was also more money makers on the horizon as pgi pitched for ideas on champion configurations, these would then contradict that heros were the only type of in game cash mech. There was an expansion on modules, coolant gate erupted as getting rid of heat at a snap was something deemed would ruin the heathreashold system, but it was launched anyway helping to add more alphas to ppc meta mechs. Leaks of pay to form merc units too came about which stands today as the private match. However after months of considering what to do instead of going back to all the core construction which had precipitated and promoted the gameplay dilemma the worst concept in the franchices history was born…

the biggest game mechanics blunder, problem, oh woe bit...

Having created a heat threashold, mechtree levelling system and customisation combination also being compounded by the coolant that would break it and convergence on sole spots of armour that wasn’t designed for such abuse we were able and had made meta supremos. However none of these flaws were cited for being fixed but a nerf to end all nerfs was introduced. It was a system that stacked ontop of the current heat system, one rule ontop of another rule which was the least gracefull and didn’t stop any of the meta but narrowed the usefull designs even further towards 1 mech to rule them all. That system simply added an abstract multiplier to combos of weapons, the devs had finally figured out the build a best mech system as explained near the beginning of this articel but all they did was clamp down the surface of a few builds. The jump sniper was reconfigured and still reigned supreme at the loss of lesser and legit builds. The customisation people sternly wanted to keep it as was in protest of overhauling the general hardpoint customisation but had their builds ruined anyways and another bout of 100+ page hatred continued. The system dubbed ghost heat started driving people to deaththreats and such demining insults that a huge wave of bans and backoff letters were issused. All advice for making other equipment better or overhauling systems were ignored no matter whom said it from newbs to tourney champs.

So already the game was in a stale state of deathmatch as a poptart domination was lasting months. People were taking breaks because of the monotony and forever trying to fix the netcode. It was covered up as burnouts and being confronted with this the devs were saying just how great the state of the game was, saying you’re not liking how things are? you’re on a bit of an island. some vets of 2011-12 saw this as a death nail to the game pgi already made up stories to try and prove their decisions {the 2-3second jenner} when they knew it was their core systems {heat threashold} which created unbalance and a lack of diversity. Now they’re trying to pretend it’s non exsisting problem and have gone full dictator to those disagreeing, the king has no cloths… still the game did carry on well enough, the game was still fun to a point though the playerbase would seem stagnate. More problems were being solved, more peoples sytems were becoming playable but the netcode was still the biggest thorn in the side. Modules were coming as fast as mechs, UAVs and such were the only fair modules made though. the closest the game came to P2W was the sudden 400% buff on airstrikes and seismic following after nerfs and buffs favouring builds which sometimes only a $hero could utilise. Luckily skill defines the outcome and even the best performers lost as teammates could sometimes drag you down. carry harder was the cry of veterens.

Also in a weird state of making up for things a poll for buffing srms was cast, the devs thought it was wrong but wanted the playerbase to tell them what the damage value should be… the players got it right. Even so the SRms were still debated as poor because the network code was still in bad shape since the last missile nerf {we may see an increase and nerf again from this value if the hit reg is really fixed up} so with another backer style pack on sale and the stale play lasting months people perused over the 2011 adds involving bases and turrets and CW role warfare seeing none of it insight for the proclaimed launch coming up. Nerfs and buffs continued as was becoming a routine and communication was considered poor if non existent, how was CW doing?

Before recovery from the outrage and depression for wanting faster development could be addressed there was still the contentious problems of the matchmaker. ELO wasn’t in favour although it had some support to start but with less samples balancing matches more often teams became weighted by the skilled players clashing with the newbies, complaints of meta play and what was useless became compounded and again tutorials were considered the first choice and a must have alongside in game VOIP and better community creating tools such as lobbies in game to relieve this. It was becoming an embarrassment that a game pitched for strategic teamplay found itself reliant on outside sources to achieve this via teamspeak and mumble. Groups were being vilified when they were the core audience according to the pitch and original design and it wasn’t their fault pgi couldn’t help newbies train up and join groups ingame because all these functions had been neglected for a year at this point. Although many times it was said like it was originally pitched there would be no 3pv system and at worst we would see a separate queue for the competitive 1pv over the 3pv players instead of tutes to help newbies. It was bewildering that such decisions were contemplated, overwhelming negativity for it alongside the poor idea of splitting the playerbase just for that. It was set up in the old UI, a greyed out slate of hardcore modes which seemed to try and be faithfull to the original pitch.

It happened anyway. We received a UI changed back to one list of game modes and everyone received 3pv as default along side fixed arms and speedups in walk animation cycles, all things vets hated “more like COD” which had been banded around had suddenly come to fruition against every devs word of assurance. To go back on their word, a statement made so many times for a feature voted down so hard, the rage storm was greater than ever. news sites and blogs fired up now standing as reports in protest to the companies conduct saying everything that had happened thus far generated interest in pgi, in a negative fashion only. it didn’t help that the only apology was a ramble of business choices and that it was other people’s fault like the community manager, quiet simply all the talk and pitch for an 1pv experience as a pilot was their position at the time even though it contradicted advertisements. Quickly the front page description was altered, a week later 3pv was deemed successful and a camera position tweak later so vets could no longer peak over stuff and ruin information warfare like they said would happen and the issue was put solemnly to rest like fixing ECM or core systems etc etc…

At launch there was no fanfare, just a line in the sand for the devs and trial mechs consisted of only champions, the final admission that the heat threshold was always a broken formula and that adherence to battletech was merely a sales pitch. Tutorials be damned, try 3rdperson with DHS bypassed bad heat mechanics {except the second ghost one} mechs instead newbies. However the launch threw up more talk about community warfare and more proposed dates for its arrival, they were selling phoenix mechs based on it’s features after all so the “loyalty points” must be relevant and coming right?

It was then the shocker for 2013 was made with the state of the innersphere address when it was finally admitted that CW although pitched with many release dates via the website, even hints at phase one been given in public addresses on camera all boiled down to lies as no work had been applied to getting these things into the game due to concerns over how long the licence would hold out. Jading the community further compounded by suspicious practices “they tell us now why couldn’t they before? Why keep lying to us!?” and “the island exodus” which was prepped after 3PV began. On top of that a 3^rd backers style pack was introduced, in names and concept art only, nothing else but pricetags higher than ever. Now the playerbase felt betrayed that what was being down went totally against what the game was advertised for, that little was being made, nothing was known about what you’re buying into after a years worth of delays and all whilst making more outrageous sellables contradicting the original pitch. N.O.P.E and no clans before community warfare added a fire to the negative internet fuel MWO had received from previous shortcomings. Now MWO was actively seeing potential customers being turned away by the news. This was the first notable outgoing of players as veterans in the field and older names were becoming scarcer than ever before.

however the player base wasn’t falling short, a period of longer waiting times was just that, a period of adjustments but damage to PGI was now spreading and activities of the devs were becoming an interest, jarhead and rabbit hole being but a few. It is what happens when a lack of honesty and communication is dealt to a fanbase, the cynicism and negaitive curiosity becomes almost insurmountable. there were many reasons the toxicity occurred it was definitely not spontaneous but an build up of delays, disappointments and corruption of the original vision many felt their money was going towards. Star citizen cashed in as it’s sticking to cater for the demographic attracted by the sim pilot persistant world player even though it had yet to deliver a playable game but the transparency and communication was an eye opener for those whom weren’t allowed to see a playercounter since closed beta via the say so of investors… whom ever they be.

As the game carried on slowly improving but not realising one set of weapons bypassed all the bandaid solutions ontop of flawed systems, the autocannon now came to the front, everything else had been nerfed. ecm got another counter, the bap received ecm capabilities it shouldn’t have had so ssrms were back again but this time at last they weren’t CT killers, their damage however was still lumped with the missile nerfs from earlier so the change made them too weak to be levelled up to other weapons. so the strategy gameplay change was logical and poptarting gunslingers continued being supreme. the flood of meta though was drying up as more vets became disillusioned at the amount of time it was taking for things to show signs of progress or for some even an “improvement” and took breaks or gave up altogether. more newbs who knew not what a meta was brought diversity back, albeit the most unco-ordinated mess of a shooter diversity. Of 3 backers pack of mechs the clans always anticipated as the most popular was showing signs of failure due to such ridicule of presentation, which wasn’t much and still is unclear, alongside those whom would’ve been interested having been long gone thanks to the company performance and outlook for the product thus far, casting all doubt as to what game are you getting for all this expenditure?

Now into 2014 Like the CN9-AH we find stuff being sold back to us, gyro for earlier patches without so much screen shake, hill climb module to recover the rocks you used to be able to walk over, range boost costing you heat {current range nerfs make range modules more desirable?} c-bills for MC etc. we find the need to pay becoming greater with earnings nerfs and the people most likely to not notice, the casual solo being attended to whilst the groups continue to be on a backberner like CW the main selling point for the game’s existence. even though MM and 3pv **** and rumoured VOIP will get solo newbies to speed how are big premades evil then on such a similar footing? Yet still no sign of pulling back the 4 man nerf deemed a temporary condition whilst the MM was analysed, that was a year ago.

Tutorials remain a stand still other than NGNG filling in for pgi media. Though consider in game tutorials you’d be remaking them if you keep buffing and nerfing the weapons involved with them right? The tutorials would need to be remade for the gauss as it received a charge mechanic making it a totally different weapon to handle. jumping and shooting would’ve needed new commentary explaining the new reticule shake, or if that’s not an excuses why is there no more than a movement tutorial and vids on the website over a year outdated not explaining the default armlocks and 3pv can be changed back? It’s a beta style mess. The IS news dropped long ago and the timeline has became so befuddled via mismanaged delays that nobody knows what will define it on CW’s rumoured release. it’s been jammed and been calculated wrong in the past and we don’t really know where it stands. It could be honoured to the original game pitch and be wound back, locking a few mechs out from CW like the aws 9m or again the advertisements are changed and the game has a generic anything goes feel so what will faction war matter beyond values on a map?

we’ve seen many more mechs but the art work has slowly been corrupted {catapult, hunchback and weapons fitments in general. lacking in following concept art, 5 finger banshee and the madcat spring to mind} so even the artwork is under a willow of disappointment, anything and everything is finding an MC next to it whilst freebie giveaways keeps the pokemech arena open. We started with teams and leagues anticipating the greatest community gathering of all, the civil innersphere wars soon to be followed by invading clans. we got collect the stompy bots arena dual instead, like it or lump it. The concept of the project and the relevance compared to what is available has fallen into trivia but MWO always survives via the formula made good from the game’s originators, FASA and those programmers of Activision. with it’s cockpit, hud and weapons mechanics organisation for a FPS which still shines through this project is still an enjoyable gaming experience in small sperts but theres no reason to be dedicated to it or belong to it. For all these messes that is how this game has survived, by what it can still hold of it’s roots, what the reviewers call the core gameplay, even though the devs and us know of the flaws they’re riding this old formula for all it’s worth.

However we’re seeing more change {karl bergs thread} general discussion is back where a post like this may survive {me hopes} that looking at problems and tackling them isn’t something to push under the carpet but something to be seen and tackled. After all that’s happened the componants here could still show potential. Discussion can still be made, it isn’t over yet but it’s incredibly hard to consider how things have carried out and still consider the viability of the product. The trust is gone and where are the features pitched all that time ago?

I can only feel that IGP is all business and didn’t understand their customer base at all, the clan pack screams of it from pricing to release management {a shadow cut out of concept art for a trailer!} I feel PGI was mismanaged and though not intentionally out to ruin things and get at fan bois and their wallets, they were just well over their heads in maintenance, planning and designing and have been playing for time ever since. They needed to lie about what they were doing and strining people along to try and keep interest and money in a product they struggled to understand what was needed and keep building. I don’t hate the devs as such but I pity them for trying to conquer the world using the hearts of the faithfull, a source who’s scope is so vast and glorious that it is has carried on for decades as a popular franchise and the ladybird book of how to be a minimally viable product and get away with it. this is all the mechwarrior we have, it could be more but this is where reality is at as people have said too little too late.

we are dissapointed but are still here waiting.

Your OP says one post only no need for back and forth yet you posted 5 times on the first page alone. Shooting yourself in the foot there. if you are going to lay down guidelines then you have to follow them yourself. If you can't respect your own rules no one else is going to either.

You say you will write your own response and you will use facts, please remember that using FACTS means that you have to have the RAW DATA available for all who want to prove your findings. Further, that RAW DATA has to be in its original form from the original source with all parameters and the scope of the data gathering process also shown and open for review.
