Financially it made sense to me:

My guesstimated Maths:

4 months premium @ $15 a month = $60 + $80 in in-game credit + 4 mechs guesstimating worth at $20* a mech = $80

$60 + $80 + $80 = $220 total guesstimated value in my book.

Not too bad for $120.

*Mech cost guesstimated by looking at STO ship costs (around $25 USD) and WoT vehicles costing from $3 to $50 each in gold.

Not to hate, I DO think I'll spend the $120 when I learn a thing or two more, but I think a Dev put it more around $170 but the value of the mechs isn't in stone. Looks like the premium monthly will be less than sto, although he could be using a longer-term sub price for instance my STO is 20% off or so from when I signed back up on a recurring plan with a special offer.

I bought "Elite" for a couple (more like 3) reasons:
  • I wanted to kickstart my XP and C-Bill earning from the start. Since I will probably binge on MWO for the first couple of months, I might as well be earning XP and C-Bills at an accelerated rate.
  • I know that no matter how much I like this game, if its developer doesn't realize a profit from it, I won't be able to play it. Buying a Founder's Package offsets development costs, and helps to insure longevity (the game's, not mine. For that, I consume a balanced diet and get regular exercise).
  • I didn't go "Legendary" because I didn't feel it was a responsible purchase for me, considering my wife is a stay-at-home mom to our twin 14 month olds, who down a gallon of organic whole milk every two days.

Truthfully, I was planning on getting myself into a Hunchback and continuing my long standing tradition of backshooting assault pigs and being a general nuisance.

That said; the 120.00 was a lot--wife still doesn't know--but I felt it was a proper thank you/ donation to the keep Battletech alive cause. Although, if the Stalker was one of the founder mechs I wouldn't have waited the whole 30 seconds.

I've been reading a lot of the posts and have been dissappointed at a lot of the negativity. Battletech is about Battletech. Its a basement genre fanboyed by a lot of old guys and I'm up for donating bone marrow to keep it alive. Dollars are nothing when the water companty is abusing me like a blow up doll every month.

Anyway, I encourage all you guys on the fence to contribute to the cause. The more they make the longer it will live.

Because I remember playing BattleTech on Genie.net in the mid 90s and it made me happy! Plus the $120 is the best value since you get 4 class of mechs right off the bat that have the additional cbill bonus. And hells ya to get my name in the credits! lol

I have to say that I did. And here is why. Upfront cost $120. But you get $80 of in game currency, so now cost is $40. And you get three months premium, figure $15 a month as is common, and now we are at -$5 Then you get the mechs.

So since I would have spent money on premium and the in game currency most likely anyways I come out $5 ahead, and get 4 great mechs with customs skins and cbill boost, and get my name in the credits. Its a win win all around.

I always liked Battletech/Mech games and frankly I spent $350 on dinner last Friday so what's $120 for a game I'll play at least 3 months.

BattleTech has been, and always will be, a major part of my life. From the wide-eyed kid who saw giant robots and thought they were cool twenty-four years ago, to the man now who has tracked down practically every supplement, book, and bit of paraphernalia for the BattleTech universe...purchasing a Founder's Pack made sense for me.

They honestly should be giving everyone the closed beta access, waiting until Aug 7th is crazyness :)

Aug 7th is fine by me! Less time will pass between release date and day i get home, so not quite as far behind the power curve!

...I know everyone's gonna hate this, but it could go a little ways to the right on the calendar so then I could play on the release B)

No, there's only one of those......

MPBT:3025 got me hooked on the MMO playstyle, $120 is a mere pittiance for the opportunity to conquer the galaxy again. I've been playing the franchise since it was made of paper, and called Battledroids. I've spent far too much on the BattleTech simulators, when you could still find them around. I much preferr to melt face with my PPC's from my own computer.

I'm in because I want to throw money at the developers to encourage them to make a kick-*** game. A little monetary motivation never hurts... :)

I spent many hours playing MW2 on PC, and loved every second of it. I've also played table top a bit and had a blast.
