I chose Kurita after reading a ton of fluff and seeing how they weathered the clan invasion and came out guns blazing!

Yeah, our 'Mech production really gets turned up to eleven between Tukayyid and Operation Bird-Dog.

Something like two dozen new 'Mech designs or some such.
Not to mention the first Inner Sphere-made OmniMechs.

FedSuns use salvage to fix the Bushwacker, we use salvage to design the Avatar.
I think we know which is the better choice.

Erm, let's see what we get:
During Invasion:
3051: PNT-10K/PNT-C Panther, WFT-1 Wolf Trap, KTO-C Kintaro, MAL-C Mauler
Post-Tukayyid:
3052: RTX1-O Raptor
3053: DMO-1K Daimyo, KIM-2/KIM-2A Komodo, QKD-C Quickdraw
3054: WHM-7K Warhammer, VTR-C Victor
3055: HM-1 Hitman, PNT-10KA/PNT-CA Panther, BHKU-O Black Hawk-KU, DAI-01 Daikyu, NG-C3A Naginata
3056: HM-2 Hitman, OW-1 Owens, DMO-2K/DMO-2KA/DMO-3K Daimyo, CRB-C Crab, AV1-O Avatar, MTR-5K Maelstrom, SD1-O Sunder
3057: SR1-O Strider, FS9-O Firestarter, BJ2-O Blackjack, CRK-5003-C/CRK-5003-CM Katana
3058: HER-4K Hermes, DMO-4K Daimyo, KTO-K Kintaro, CPLT-K2K/CPLT-K5 Catapult, NDA-1K No-Dachi, OBK-M10 O-Bakemono, AKU-1X Akuma
3059: KBO-7A Kabuto, TBT-9K Trebuchet, KTO-21 Kintaro, NDA-2K No-Dachi, HTM-29T Hatamoto-Chi, CP-12-K Cyclops
Operation Bird Dog, Operation Bulldog, Task Force Serpent.

So yeah, we got our act together.
41 new variants/'mechs post-Tukayyid in only 7 years.

Because you're on the other side of the Sphere from the Goonswarm.

To be honest, I'd consider Clan Smoke Jaguar to be a bigger threat.

I think it'd be a good idea if I'd play Shogun: Total War 2 a bit more and write them all down for posting @ housekurita.org.

Weapons and mechs aside which honestly are all the same in the end(comes down to pilot)... Theodore Kurita was an amazing leader who peacefully superseded his own iron fist father even while dear ole dad refused to surrender his nifty title.

Talk about turn around for an entire culture based on this one man. He arranged deals with Comstar to gain an advantage in battlemech technology. Turned a weathered and losing Caste specific military (and society) into an amazing fighting force that brilliantly recovered from clan invasion, becoming stronger despite feeling the most impact form said invasion. Theodore also turned the barbaric thought of using mercenaries into an excepted idea in both Kurita space and the DCMS. Later on FIRST OMNIMECH Innersphere style!!

Nerding aside... Free Dental = win. PPCs on 90% of mechs = win. Swords! come on every mech deserves and sharp looking object!

Clearly you shouldn't and I need but say two words on way not, Kentares Massacre.

http://www.sarna.net...ntares_Massacre

If anything you should strive to punish these heartless monsters and wipe their misbegotten nation from history!

The leader who made that call is dead and gone. It is nothing our current coordinator or his son would do. It is a stain on the honor of the Dragon to be sure, but it is a stain we work daily to remove.

And that massacre was the result of the FedSun's doing, not our's.
If that sniper from the 7th Crusis Lancers didn't assassinate Minoru Kurita, then Jinjiro would never have snapped and ordered his bushi to "kill them all".
Furthermore, it is all because you FedRats didn't want to be conquered peacefully.
Why couldn't you just accept Minoru as the new First Lord?

((I like how the two previous posts perfectly illustrate the split within the DCMS concerning any feelings about the Kentares Massacre.))

I choose the Dragon because :

- Honor and Pride are more important than money.
- We are not coward like most of the warriors of House Liao.
- We fight for something greater than our "little" person. we fight for a great goal. We are most of the time solidary !
- And finally, we have the Akuma

We are the warriors of the Dragon! We require courage, loyalty, and skill- we will take on any enemy and fight to the bitter end.

Besides, there's the anime, sushi, and sake. All great things.

Because life is but sakura petals...it's brief but beautiful so let's make flowers bloom on the fields of war.

And by flowers blooming I meant exploding enemy mechs.

Better question: why not choose House Kurita?
For one, ours is a warrior's culture.
And the clans deemed us to be the most honourable of the "Inner Sphere Barbarians" that it was considered a great honour for the Smoke Jaguars to win the right to invade us.
Next, if you're a loyal Kuritan, you'll have friends on every planet.
Third: we quite nearly conquered the FedSuns back in the first succession war, and had the CapCon almost begging for an alliance.
Fourth: We called a bluff on Hanse Davion and he didn't find out until a decade later.

PS.
We got anime/manga industries, the other factions don't.

Damn its a toss up between House Steiner and Kurita.....beer or anime?

You capture the spirit of it exactly. I submit a small haiku to explain to the others:

Choosing a faction
reduced to one question:
Beer or Anime?
