You capture the spirit of it exactly. I submit a small haiku to explain to the others:
Choosing a faction
reduced to one question:
Beer or Anime?

Psh...I prefer japanese beer anyway so it's a no brainer for me. :D

Anime and sake? Although the birru does work too. And sushi!

Join for the Geisha's dude!

Agree with the others points on Bushido and such but a Gaijin has to recognize where his priorities and motivations ...lay.... :)

The Great House Kurita is built upon the foundation of honor and discipline, the very cement uniting the people of the Draconis Combine, which we seek to export to all of the Inner Sphere. Service and loyalty are our credo, and the code of bushido paves the way to victory and glory. At the same time, we maintain that warfare is a form of art, to be perfected like any craftsman in the Combine seeks to do. We have a rich culture extending back thousands of years, all the way back to ancient Terra, which ultimately makes us superior to the other nations of the Inner Sphere whose existence is plagued by corruption and treachery veiled behind the stench of cheap perfume and decadent luxury.

If you are a warrior who seeks a purpose greater than monetary gains, if for you, piloting a battlemech is not a "job" but a lifestyle, look no further than the nearest DCMS recruitment bureau.

If I wasn't a dedicated mercenary I'd pledge allegiance now. I respect this house more than any, but the thought of complete power and trust into one leader makes me uncomfortable at the least. Best of luck, I truly hope I'm not on the other side of the guns with this house due to respect.

I wouldn't chose House Steiner or Liao even if they were the only Houses left. I didn't like Kurita either, but I grew to like Kurita when reading the novels and Theodore started to loosen up & started to get friendly w/House Davion. (of course, it didn't help that his daugher, Omi, fell in love with Victor Davion. so in short, for me it's either Davion or Kurita, which is why I'm a merc, as of now.

I'm pretty sure that the Japanese started to brew their beer as an alternate punishment for those who thought ritual self-evisceration was "going easy on them."

Seriously, I'd try German Sushi before i drank that crap again.

Hai, that is how we are. Always concerned with grace and dignity, even in death. ;)

For some strange reason, I have a feeling this might actually taste quite well. As weird as it sounds.
