why would you be upset about this? we don't know if we can even put clan tech into IS mechs, because if we can it would invalidate the Entire IS armory. everyone would be running clan tech in IS mechs, so whats the point of IS tech then?

because i can just wait until CTF-3D running ultra AC-20s with ER medium lasers, or K2 UAC20s or UAC40s boom jagers

you can see what kinda a problem this is going to cause

Ummm...what? Your post does not logically follow from what you quoted. I said nothing about putting Clan weapons in IS mechs. I was saying that the changes they were making for the Clan UACs and LBXs are exactly what they need to do to the IS ACs as well, but they don't seem to be doing it.

I'm basically accusing PGI of leaving the job half done. And for leaving the IS LB-10X a piece of junk.

Well, the clans don't have standard AC's, so they aren't afraid of eliminating their utility by making the clan LBX into a non-trash-tier weapon.

IS LBX is being left a PoS for absolutely no good reason, If a LB-X is better than a AC, why do we Need the Standard AC. FYI Clan's have Standard ACs that are 1 crit, and one ton lighter than the Ultra variants. Why don't people use em? Cause they are antiques!

Clan Ultras a being Ruined cause players got no stomach for a fight.

FYI, This info was in the back of the original TRO3050. If PGI can use rules from a outdated single print boxset, they can use the info from that book as well!

Good luck with that.
...I expect their response to you will be "We announced a phased implementation"

Thanks, I'll let you know their response. To my reversal of charges.

PS: just asking for my $240 back for the Masakari package, not the Founder or Overlord or Phoenix or MC purchases this whale has made.

Just for the goods that have not been delivered.

And ne'er another pfennig will they see, from me. Too bad I can't donate the 90MM c-bills and 19K MC still lurking on the account to some wide-eyed new, or some other worthy. Those funds have a fork in them now.

They are DONE.

Sometimes the Devs make it really hard to be on their side. How is it that the weapons are close to being 100% balanced? Do they even play the game these days?

30-35 damage alpha are fine to deal with but not when that alpha only hits 1 location. We all have been complaining that mechs die too fast and many think that it is suicide to bring XL engines. PGI's solution is to add ghost heat which would be fine if it addressed the total issue. But it does not; instead it punishes energy and missiles while leaving ballistics untouched except for the AC2/20. So the meta shifts towards twin AC5s/PPCs or an AC10 with twin PPCs able to dish out 100 (AC5s) and 80 (AC10) damage in 10 seconds without coming close to their heat cap. Better than 4 PPCs without the heat.

Weapon balance is not close to being viable when the go to weapons are ballistics. Energy weapons suffer from heat, weight (some), burn over time, lower DPS, shorter ranges, and ghost heat. Ballistics suffer from weight, ammo, and slots. Over simplified but the point is that ballistics have less drawbacks than energy weapons. "Well ballistics suffer from risk of ammo explosion" you say; when is the last time that anyone has worried about an ammo explosion killing you while carrying 5-8 tons of ammo?

Granted I like the direction where the Clan balance is heading but poor design decisions and lack of future planning has been hurting the current balance.

I'm sorry to say, but listening to top management just deflates whatever hope and goodwill is gained from the insights shared by the engineers and programmers.

This game is still good in spite of all the design failures, and will somewhat improve, but it really is a shame it will never reach its much greater potential that could be so closely within reach, even for a small company, if there was a more logical approach to testing and design.

I had this epiphany about a year ago, but I actually only just uninstalled the game yesterday. I did originally plan to wait until "The Clans" dropped and then grief my way to a ban by TKing gold mechs but after this final CW "frack you" I've given up.

I'll still pop in here from time to time to check out the meme thread and the flaming though.

Well, halfway there on the ACs, just need to realize that you need to do that to the IS ones as well.

Agreed. The IS ones need burst fire too. Dual AC20 certainly does not require any jumping through hoops to achieve 40 damage. People just eat the extra heat and its not a big deal.

IS LBX is being left a PoS for absolutely no good reason, If a LB-X is better than a AC, why do we Need the Standard AC

In tabletop, standard ACs can use different ammo types. LB-Xs can only use slug and cluster. And some of the standard AC special ammo types like armor piercing and precision ammo were pretty good. So the only reason to keep standard ACs is if they plan on adding special ammo types.

Well, I'm a little jaded by all of this but I take a few things from the interview (if I can call it that):
  • The NGNG are terrible players and just as bad as doing interviews. For the most part, they ask questions and answer questions based on personal bias. And that is assuming that they come up with this stuff on their own versus having it scripted by PGI or IGP.
  • Paul said that the AC2 change was essentially a testing ground for further changes to come (he said it in a round about way) so we might end up seeing that applied to the other ACs which leads me to point #3
  • If the AC2is a test and it goes through, who is to say that the Clan ACs won't act as a test for IS weapons? We can only hope.

listening to Paul talk about AC2 just confirms that PGI has no idea what they're doing with regards to game mechanics. When "balancing" the ACs, they COMPLETELY ignored the fact that AC2 generates massively more heat/dmg compared to other ACs and it's more DoT than other ACs aka AC20 front loads 20 dmg.

They also ignore the fact that a "suppression" weapon NEEDs rate of fire and the AC2 is now worse at its only job

Let's also ignore the fact that why nerfing the AC5 DPS does NOTHING to the meta, cause the PPC cooldown is longer anyway. And the fact why AC5 is good and why it is paired with PPCs is because it is heat neutral and the projectile speed matches closest to PPC projectile speed.

But sure, let's ONLY look at DPS scaling.

Yup. Clan Pack refund requested. Too bad I didn't see through these charlatans before. Truly sorry that I sank any money into this train wreck. Lesson learned.

You shouldn't have an issue with getting the Clan Pack Refund, I got a Phoenix Refund. You can get a refund as long as none of the content that you bought was used. So hopefully you didn't use your "free" premium time that came with the clans.

I put in a support ticket on refunding previously and as long as none of the content was used you are good to go and can get a refund up to a three weeks out. So just watch out for delivered content related to your purchase.

I refunded my Phoenix Package when Ghost heat went in, and honestly every time I kill a (P) in my name that (F) I'm happy. Honestly mechs are just skins and you can make any mech out of several different mechs so why bother buying so many skins. Real content needs to be delivered. And paying for premium time for private matches is just a money grab, and honestly not so much on the content side.

Clans can be counted as content only because they are delivering different weapons systems, but it's getting to be who really cares? So many players have left that my friends list is a wasteland of inactive pilots. We have 500 or so members and have a small active player base in our group now. We've been purging inactive accounts and all.

I love BattleTech but MWO is wasting away slowly but surely.

On what Paul does

On the Heat Scale;

11:25 - Heat scale was all Paul. Original problem was high damage alphas' - all MW's had this issue. "Heat scale stopped high damage alpha", ignoring pinpoint damage.

12:50 - Heat cap doesn't stop this because you can cool down and do it again. Heat scale works better because you can die from it.

First, I haven't read the rest of this thread, so apologies if this is a repeat that others have already capped on...

What the eff world does Paul live in, and what version of MWO is he playing?

Seriously - A 30 heat scale cap allows you to fire *more* high alpha damage strikes than a system that allows a 70 or higher heat cap? WTF? What warped math is this? The 4 PPC/6PPC stalker was *created* by heat scale, this build can't even function with a 30 heat cap. This has to be some mistake, but I went and listened to this section of the pod cast - that's what he says. I can't even fathom how he imagines this true, but it explains why there will never be balance or a working heat scale in MWO. Paul can't add.

So [Redacted] disappointed now.

Heatscale of 30 doesn't stop high alpha. People shoot with 30 pt scale, shut down, then fire again. All it does is stagger damage.

Paul, while it might SHUT a mech DOWN... When it is SHUT DOWN... what can that mech DO?

Hint:

DIE

Where do you come up with your logic, man?

Yeah, hard heat cap of 30, and even 2xPPC shuts you down on the 2nd salvo. Then all you have to do is institute actual heat penalties, and rather risky/punishing ones for exceeding 100% heat, and firing weapons until you shutdown would become a major gamble and something reserved for desparation, not standard-operating-procedure. Especially since jump snipers can fire, shut down in mid-air, and land behind cover, but non-JJ mechs can't do that.... if you fire and shutdown you're gonna end up stopping yourself in full view of all the enemies to kill you.

I mean, Jesus, but can Paul even do elementary-school arithmetic?!

yes they are, and as i have said multiple times before the only one to blame is themselves and no one else. missing 2 deadlines and lying to the community more then once didn't help. But HEY we have mech sales and mechs right

OK guys no reason to get personal.

We know that his statement is wrong - and so the explanation to support a wrong statement has to be wrong - but what do you expect?

"Yes, the Heat Capacity and the Ghost Heat, heat damage at 100% no matter if you override or not are horrible systems - and we look to replace them with those hundreds of thousends of feedbacks by the MWO forum community?"
