the abilty to put out as much dps as the is assualts do on a 75 ton mech personally i think the thor is more iconic

As someone already pointed out. MW2 cover art... Its a classic great payloads and its a mad cat.... Also favorites... vulture thanatos heck id even give some Love to a Nova cat with some bomblast lasers lol... And even the little LRM tanks lol

Because I first got involved in this whole thing with MW2. I chose clan wolf over falcon (simply a matter of animal of choice for me) and never looked back. The Timberwolf came across as THE mech of the game and I loved using it. It all stuck.

The cover is a Timberwolf but THE HEART is a Mad Dog.

I remember playing mechwarrior 2, play the wolf campaign they start you in mad dog.
I think the best theme of the game was a Mad Dog.

Its like you were in clan wolf and your just a freebirth the real wolves get timberwolves your *** is in a Mad Dog.

So a TIMBERWOLF is a mech your always sopose to WANT.....but never get. Your just a Dog not a Wolf. (later in game theres a trial of position then you earn your wolf)

When clans come out I'm not going to get a Timberwolf.....I'm going to get a Mad Dog.

Personaly I liked the hellbringer(loki). It was light armored but packed a nasty punch for a 65 tonner in it's prime configuration.

For me and lots of folks my age the Timberwolf was our into to the imagery of Battletech/Mechwarrior. I don't honestly remember what came first for me, the BT Pods or Mech2. But I distinctly remember looking at that Timberwolf as a 4th/5th grader thinking "holy crap this thing looks like an A10 Warthog that grew legs and arms"... On top of it all, the cover of mech2 had a giant fireball behind the Timberwolf. If that image does not excite a 11 year old kid there might be something wrong with him.

Because it's a fast 75 ton mech with enough slots to house just about any setup you could want. Think a heavier dragon than can actually hold enough weapons to be a threat by itself, many of which are arm mounted.
